Not a big surprise but still nice to see. We would have likely seen many games with CSU in all sports even if they had stayed independent. Still, it's a plus for UND and USD to have a conference mate that is at least reasonably near by. And now they won't have to worry about working out contracts every time there is going to be a game between the schools. On a side note, when they announced the conference I remember reading that the website would be completely redesigned by mid-Sept. Hopefully that is still soon to come.

I don't want to start a flame war but NBC showed a wide screen shot of the stands and there were ALOT of blue NDSU fans in the third.

This is the first year that I have had the expanded sports package from Midcontinent. I have to say that the 3 Fox College Sports channels are a college footbal fans best friend. They are great about showing DI games that feature teams you wouldn't usually be able to watch on ABC, CBS or ESPN. They show alot of games featuring lower level DI FBS teams as well as many, many games featuring DI FCS teams. I have even caught a few DII and DIII games. Right now I am watching FCS teams Sam Houston State and the University of Central Arkansas from the Southland Conference on FCS Atlantic. Both of the SUs have played quite a few Southland teams in the last 5 years. I am sure we will likely see alot of Southland teams as well. They seem to be pretty willin to sign home-and-homes.

Texas Tech scored to go ahead with about 2 minutes left in the game. Nebraska made a quick drive to tie with with under a minute to go. Going to overtime. Neb 31 TT 31 Overtime.

The ladies were up 2-0 until SCSU scored a short handed goal with 3.7 seconds left in the first. UND will start the 2nd with ~1:30 power play. SCSU 1 UND 2 End of 1st.

Indiana State 7 Southern Ill 60 FINAL. Lennon just managed to use about every coaching cliche in 30 seconds. Haha. "We're where we need to be." "We control our own destiny." "We'll enjoy this one for 24 hours and then move on."

M S&T was driving down the field and threw a pass into the endzone. It was bobbled and intercepted by USD. They ran it back to ~20. They got the touchdown and for some reason went for 2 and missed it. M S&T drove down and got a field goal on their next possession. M S&T 3 USD 20 End of 3.

Mr. Lennon and his Salukis are taking on Indiana State. The game just started on FCS Central if anyone wants to watch. SIU scored a long touchdown pass on their first play from scrimmage. 7-0 I'm heading to the Mayville State's homecoming game against Dickinson State so I will be unable to follow the whole game.

Game Notes: North Dakota opens WCHA action against St. Cloud State Hopefully the Sioux can begin to better their all-time series against alot of the WCHA teams this year. Getting a few points from SCSU would be a good way to start the WCHA season.

UND owns the rights to the logo. If UND decides that the Ralph isn't going to use it anymore or sell items with the logo on them, that is UND's decision.

You might want to check out the third thread down titled "Big Sky?" The fourth thread down titled "Great West to become all sports conference?" Or the sixth one down titled "DI conference speculation." Just some thoughts on where to start.

For anyone who says that the herald and other local newspapers don't have very slanted coverage of the Sioux name needs to go read the herald's article about this. Why did they have to title it Protesters contest REA flag-raising. What would have been wrong with Tribal Elders and members show support for Sioux logo? It seems to me that there were more American Indians inside the arena supporting the name than standing outside protesting. I still can't figure out why none of the news agencies that cover these protests never ask them why there aren't more protesters that come to these events and why it is always the same handful of liberal arts professors.
