  1. They are gonna be going w/Parise, bet on it. At the least he will get the 1st start. I called it last night that he would likely play today also considering his performance yesterday. this is really all playoff hockey from here out so there is no more "giving chances." You really just want one guy to stick with during the end of the season and you keep him in to keep him hot.
  2. The player who made the biggest impression on me tonight was Parise. There was one goal he had a good look at and probably should have saved but man, he really took care of business late in the game. Tonights 3rd period was perhaps the best period I have seen from a Sioux goalie this season. Nothing against Lammy, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Parise in again tomorrow. Its time to pick a guy to ride through the playoffs.
  3. Federov wins the thread That said, its kind of late to go with a goalie who hasn't been getting time. Its too bad our situation couldn't have been resolved earlier. I agree with those wishing we had goalies with size. Talent gets you only so far in the net unless its an extremely exceptional netminder (KG). Sometimes its just nice to be able to let the puck hit you instead of vice versa.
  4. This has got to be one of the most stupid rules ever. These are the plays that often determine the game and as fans we obviously want to see them - whether or not they go for or against our team. We all know (or should know) that questionable calls happen, but at least let us see how the play developed! And as for PC, its not like the refs are not used to getting boo'd anyways
  5. the UND v. AA game doesnt start until very late according the UND athletic page - 10:05 central so should be on in 5 mins
  6. zajac gets his 2nd! 2-0 Sioux
  7. I am watching the game on dataflix-first time I have tried it. So, for the rest of you who have done this before I have a question: is it supposed to be impossible to see the puck?
  8. AND NOW STAFFORD SCORES!! 2-1 sioux lead!
  9. Well, I don't know JP personally, but I respect him more if he said that. I think he is a good player - but I also know what little bro meant to this team I think its important that hockey players - good ones and bad ones both - know how to stay humble despite playing the BEST FREEKING GAME IN THE WORLD!!
  10. *ahem* Game 4 1st period intermission report courtesy of Sweeny~: asdfasdfasdf!!!!WTF!!!!! /gasping for breath Bolts up 1-0 but I think the flames are playing better. Tampa's last powerplay was just UGLY - flames had 2 good shorthanded scoring chances...TB is looking a bit sloppy and calgary - as usual - is looking intense. Its too bad about Commy's penalty... And WOW, that knucklepuck at the end of the period??? I thought for a second it was in the net - Khalibuilen (sp?) bout gave bolt fans a collective heart attack...I tell ya...its a good thing I root for calgary because if that was Kipper I would have dropped over dead right there!!!! 2nd period: more of the same. GO FLAMES!!!!!! 3rd period: Its a rare game when I can say the team I like lost well. Calgary almost did it. Nieminin....I love ya...but....man. That penalty was killer. My first instinct on that play was OUCH. Then I saw Lecavalier get up a bit quick and I thought, hmmm. But then they showed shots of Vinny getting med treatment on the bench and it sure looked liked he was bleeding from the head pretty good, so I really think the play and the penalty was legit, as much as I hate it. On a good note, this series is the best playoff final I have seen. Ever. Give me a few days to cool down and let the streams of adrenaline flowing in my blood recede a bit and I will be ready as ever for game 5
  11. Doh! his penalty 1st period hurt On a cool note, they showed a little profile thingy of him - and the last line: "...Won NCAA championship with North Dakota in 2000" hohoho
  12. goaltending situations are hard to predict. Knowing blais he is going to - at the very least - give all em a chance to compete for the job. If there is a clear winner then that one will get the time. If there isn't, then they will share time like last year. That's how it is - it is entirely dependent on how the goalies play. Its hard to ignore looking at the politics of the situation but in the end - as the old saying goes - "Scoreboard, kiddo."
  13. yeah I was hoping for the same. To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if it happens - last game he had over 10 mins ice time not to mention he was out for the powerplays a bit too...
  14. Calgary W (3-0 game, 2-1series) was a good game. I was only able to listen to the game not watch it today - but man, though I wasn't surprised to hear Iginla challenge Lecavalier, I was surprised that vince dropped the gloves so my question: was the fight any good???
  15. This whole logo/name thing is silly. I am from Dickinson...our mascot? A midget. That's right folks. The Dickinson Midgets. Now, anyone who hasnt heard of us may be going "OMGOMGWTF!!" right now but really its not that bad. Our nickname isn't derogatory - and our name isn't even an issue anymore in my city because fans know its history. We based our nickname off one of our earliest basketball teams. They were all short little squirts, but they kicked butt and their nickname was the midgets. The name stuck, and we kept it in their honor. Now, several years ago - as was bound to happen - the name DID become an issue. It took awhile for all the sensible people to find all the stupid people and slap them all upside the head until they got some sense themselves...but the cooler heads in Dickinson did eventually prevail and we remain the Midgets. And we are darn proud to be midgets. In conclusion, my response to those who want the name changed: "STFU." I would say it nicely though, wouldnt want to hurt any feelings or anything of course.
  16. Man, you are not kidding! Tonight's game was awesome!!! I admit I came into this series with high hopes - I have been rooting for both these teams since the beginning of the playoffs. But man, I for one could not be more pleased with this final
  17. I did not refer to fighting in my post skatesshatrick - I referred to the physical play. Most severe injuries in hockey result from bad checks - not getting punched in the face so fights are an entirely different issue. As for Mario, I would like to hear it from him. If he actually would say something like that, then my reply would go like this: "Hockey has always been physical, and should stay that way. It is a young person's sport - and we like to play it rough. If you are too old or cannot handle it, then you are welcome to find a different more gentle league."
  18. PCM, nobody HERE may be saying hockey shouldn't be rough perhaps. I should have been clearer - my statement was directed to the general public, not avid hockey fans
  19. I, for one, am glad that hockey is a rough sport. Frankly, anyone that thinks physical play drives fans away is clueless. Don't agree? Just look at the NFL. 'nuff said on that theory. In addition, from my standpoint as a hockey player, I will say that a little violence is not all a bad thing. People see ugly injuries on their TV's and their politically correct conditioned response is to react with shock, disgust, and - eventually - outrage. All those people are sheep. You will not find a single real hockey player who would say that it is an excessively violent sport. And the players - not the fans - would know. We are the ones who are taking the punishment.
  20. AC/DC or - and I cannot believe this hasn't already been mentioned - 'taking care of business' - BTO. Plus, 'fuel' by metallica is good too. Classics, all - old, but good.
