UND (4-3) vs Cal-State Fullerton (4-2) 11/27 1PM (North Dakota MTE)
SD UND replied to SWSiouxMN's topic in Men's Basketball
Great weekend for the Hawks. Hold teams under 60 is a good recipe. I agree that Nero had a good weekend. Didn't try to do much and passed the ball well, especially in Utah Tech game. Ajahni had a great weekend...really happy for him. BJ continues to grow and T had a great game vs. CSF. Hopefully they can get some things straightened out on offense as we move forward here because it gets really stagnant in stretches... but when you defend like they are right now, it doesn't really matter. School is not too much for Mitch.. UND just finally has other guys around, to make minutes competitive. Ajahni, right now is better for the team than Mitch. If Mitch wants minutes he's going to have to play the 5, but if T and Brian continue to play well, than he needs to get comfortable with the bench. -
UND (2-3) vs Wisconsin Stout (2-3) 11/22 7 PM

I'm sure the story will come out at some point this year. It's not going to come from me as it is something that we all would like to think we would do. it's for a good reason. No worries on where he's been. -

Stout does have a kid that just scored 70 in a game... Brody Fox, younger brother of Parker Fox, who played for Coach Sather at NSU... -
Good road win last night. Sueker finally did some things that emulated a college basketball player. good team win, a lot of guys did some nice things
-
Do you think that had anything to do with getting beat by 20?? Do you think it had anything to do with it being the 3rd game of the season? Do you think it has anything to do with being a young team that needs guys to define/fill roles? There isn't a coach in college basketball that "wants " to play 12 guys in a half. 8-9 guys will fill the majority of the minutes by the end of the year. Is it frustrating to lose at home by 30? yes. Was it to a much improved WCC team? yes. Should we all overreact and jump off a cliff and fire the coach mid-season? no. Relax, pal.

Like I've said before... he doesn't shoot, because he is not a shooter at this point in his career. He needs to work on it, yes... but he's not going to be in the 30's this year for percentage... I'd be shocked if he shoots 15 3's this year.
-
I'm sure it will get better once they let him go and some other guy comes in.. UND will jump right to the top of the conference then.
-
Youre right... he has no idea what a D1 player looks like.... he's recruited two FOTY in the league... the jump from Northern State isn't as big as what you want to think.
-
Who is USD's or SDSU's big portal gets from outside the region?
-
Their portal kids are from Lincoln, NE and Yankton, SD.. try again.
-
You are a 19-22 year old Division 1 athlete... you are looking to continue to play college basketball... your two choices are Grand Forks, ND or Stockton, CA... You people that think UND is going to be able to just pillage the transfer portal... and get the kids you NEED to get out of there to compete with NDSU, SDSU, ORU... it's not going to happen... I'm sorry, Grand Forks and UND is not a destination for recruits... save me the "well volleyball did it" "Well football did it" that is apples to oranges. UND has to do it the way they are doing it and they have to strike gold with a couple of these guys.

another phenomenal showing by Sueker as well. He’s so good
-
Right.
-
I think we all should give it a try.
-
Because they are both bad players. They both are bad rebounders. Bad defensive players. And if they are not scoring, they kill the team.. That's why.
-
Norman had 14 points and 5 reb. Other than the two late TO's... which were almost catastrophic... he played a good game. He brings more to the table than Nero, and it's not close.
-
Great win tonight. best lineup is : trent, bj, brooks, Norman, T. Norman had two really bad to’s late but was good until that point. He will be just fine. By the end of the year Treysen will zap #0’s minutes and we won’t have to watch him anymore- him and sueker are a total liability on both ends, especially defensive.
-
I guess we will see.. I hope you are right.
-
I don't think we want Brooks to be a willing shooter- he is not a shooter as that is not part of his game... He is a driver/slasher, hopefully he can fill the stat sheet and average about 8-10 pts 6 reb 2 steals 4 assists and shoot a high percentage. IMO that would be a success for him
-
I would argue that kids from SD would rather go play at NSU than UND.... Plus UND is basically recruiting Michigan and that's it.. for the most part.
-
Generally exhibitions do not have highlights because you don't want film out for your first opponent. UND has the film, Waldorf has the film... that's the only people that will see it.
-
My guess is either abdur-razaaq or Bothun

I don't think UND will miss Bruns as much as they think they will, he will be a nice player at USD, but won't win another award while he's down there. UND will be more talented this year, but young, so there may be growing pains again but I think we will see a better version of UND basketball than we saw last year. Biggest question is whether they will be able to keep the talented class together for at least 2-3 years... history tells us that that is going to be hard so those guys need to grow up quickly and they need to play. Let's do our part as fans and get to the Betty and create an environment that kids will be excited about. If they fail on their end, then we can question them. At the end of the day... Sather is a good coach... he didn't all of a sudden forget how to coach. Yes, the results have been below average to mediocre at best... If anyone has been hit by tougher luck in the last 3 years I would like to know who it is and then I would call them a liar... He will get it turned around, just might not be as quick as @gfhockey wants it to be.

You hit the nail on the head. Kid is from 15 miles away from USD... after 1 year they wanted him, so he went there. Because if they wanted him his senior year of HS, UND wouldn't have gotten him. In college basketball right now, you are building one year rosters, at all levels. UND has a chance to erase last year by having a better year this year....and at the end of this year, players will leave and they will try to build another team next year... welcome to the real world of new college basketball... fun
