I don’t know enough about the grass surface but the facility itself looks dreadful when you drive by it. As I said the high school stadiums in town are better they should play their home games there Or just eliminate soccer altogether nobody would notice.
-
I agree that could be a big part of it. Up until the title 9 reports in the media I would suspect a lot of people didn’t even know there was a soccer team at und.
-
The high school setups for soccer are better in this town than what UND has. They would be better playing at Cushman field if UND is too lazy to build them a proper facility IMO.

2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Is this due to a case of people needing to step up and help more with NIL, or is it more that grand forks is a smaller community and doesn’t have as many donors as colleges in bigger cities? -
2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Do we have any idea how UND’s NIL deals compare to rival hockey programs? -
I didn’t know there was only one win in two years. If this is connected to the investigation though it could be an issue for the university. Plus I think it would be hard for a coach to recruit athletes that could win any games when you look at the shocking state of their field. Hopefully one day we are able to discuss winning about any of our teams but right now the whole athletic department is a dumpster fire.
-
Yeah I think you are right. So is it related to the title 9 investigation? Once again this shows why we need a change of leadership at the AD position every week there is something else with this department and it is never good.
-
Is this related to the title 9 thing with the girls soccer team?

He wanted her to stay but she was adamant she was leaving and didn’t see the coaching change as a reason to change the decision.

2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

You do realize that Jax was also a part of these decision making processes? Berry was the person ultimately in charge but his staff played large roles in recruiting, and regularly made recommendations about whether or not to take a kid. The idea that everything was Berry’s decision and not a staff decision is nonsense and that is why it is still hard to understand the hire if we want recruitment to truly change -
He’s been busy online. Social media coach. Let’s see what type of product he can put on the court. I’m a little skeptical simply because if this guy is so good why was there still an exodus after season and how was he not able to prevent a prominent player going to Ndsu?
-
Out of curiosity how many coaches at UND in the last 10 years have gone onto a better job? Is UND only capable of hiring bad coaches? Or is Grand Forks a death knell for coaching careers? I’m curious.
-
Thank you. So it’s not really a plan, it’s just what most coaches say they want of their athletes.
-
I haven’t seen the press conference what were the bullet points of the vision for the program if someone would be kind enough to indulge me?
-
New coach wasn't able to keep the best player. Not a good start.
-
You're forgetting the part that Jackson supported Berry with bringing Mitchell in also.
-
Yes this article just shows what a clown Chaves is. He doesn't seem to have any control of his own department and his justification of this hire is just a justification for another lazy hire.
-
Chaves doesn't care about womens sports that has been obvious for years.
-
This just embodies the cringe of an athletic department we have where they’re having to justify their own hire.
-
Whatever way you look at it, moving to a local rival is pretty low. I’m sure she is a nice person, most people are, but when making a move like this you are going to have to live with being a villain to people who care.
-
This is all just fluff that people put on social media. If this coach was that good the portal players would have stayed.
-
The whole department
-
As with many people I have sent my disapproval of Chaves to the president. This is the worst shape the department has been in. If Armacost has the funds to pay out his contract Chaves should be dismissed rather than letting him continue this mess until the inevitable expiration of the current deal.
-
More than ever. Should this not be the hottest topic in UND athletics? Why is Chaves still here?
