More than ever. Should this not be the hottest topic in UND athletics? Why is Chaves still here?

So Chaves fires a coach just to hire the assistant? This is an embarrassment as least football brought in someone from the outside to generate some energy

I believe they are charging extra now because UND sports are no longer just a series of games for the fans to attend we are now given daily entertainment in the form of a comedy show coming from the front office with Bill Chaves being the 2025 version of Michael Scott.

I don’t know enough about Title IX or about the soccer field to know how good or bad it is. Driving by the high school fields they look better than the UND soccer field but those fields also have other teams using them so naturally would be nicer when football plays there. I think the big piece is that during Chaves tenure at UND sports have generally got worse, all of a sudden there is a shotgun reaction of firing multiple coaches which to me suggests the problem lies above a department full of bad head coaches, and the cherry on top is a Title IX complaint. is there an athletic department in the country in a worse state currently regarding leadership?

My question is why are all of these sports struggling? At some point it is a culture issue that starts with the AD. And on top of all our sports struggling there is also the Title 9 investigation that is happening on Chaves watch. If there was ever a time for a new leader it is now.

And somehow Chaves is still in a job. We need a completely new administration.

Regardless of your experience hiring/extending here are the facts regarding Chaves: - Jeremiah Tiffin was a disaster - Mal hire was a disaster - Sather hire has been poor - fire the soccer coach and hire the assistant- this is looking more and more like this was due to the Title IX case against Chaves - Fire Bubba after just renewing his contract- disaster you are paying him out hundreds of thousands of dollars - Jesse Tupac hire- looking like a disaster so my question to you: does Chaves know how to hire and extend good coaches? If so, where are the results. Alternatively, and in my opinion there is no way ALL these coaches are bad. Which leaves the alternative- the hiring of Chaves has been the downfall of the department. so which is it?

How much are they paying Berry, Bubba, and Mal out to not coach at UND?

Possibly but the last few years have been rough, now we need to sit back and expect a couple more tough years on the hope that after that maybe basketball will be better? I don’t see anything within this athletic department that gives me hope changes in coaching will help. None of Chaves hires have been good. If we are going to have a rough few years Armacost needs to find a leader that can energize the entire athletic department and create some excitement across the board.

Agreed. With all of this going on most Presidents would have removed the AD by now.

It’s time. Don’t let Chaves ruin this department anymore and let a new leader come in to right the ship.

With all that coaches being fired when is Chaves being dumped? I don’t see how an athletic director can survive this unless he has some dirt on the president.

Can we really trust this administration to handle anything properly at this point?
