  1. Does any one know what time UND will find out whether they made the regional tournament or not???
  2. I'm pretty sure it was his dad who got the job. I remember his dad being really controlling with his son's hockey career. I would of had no problems if Spooner would have left at the beginning of the year, but he wins a state tennis title and then he's in Grafton playing for the spoilers.....hmmm
  3. Alright time to talk about Krebsbach, GOOD GUESS GUYS!!!! 1. When he lived in Grand Forks, I believe that he lived by himself. He got a house or apartment or something like that, or maybe his dad lived with him a little bit because his parents were divorced yet, his dad was in Minot a lot. I don't disagree with him going to Red River though, the kid did great and is playing DI hockey, I still talk to him, great guy!! 2. Samson made a huge mistake cutting Krebsbach. As Freshman our team took second at state in Bantam A to Grand Forks South....aka Red River, and the next year there is no way Nick shouldn't have been on the first line in Minot, Samson didn't want to cut seniors, and it cost us our best player.... 3. Our team didn't make state as seniors, probably because we didn't have Nick.
  4. This is an interesting topic. I played with a kid in Minot who transfered to Red River right after tryouts got over. He didn't make our varsity, so he went like the next week to Red River and he made like their second line. In his three years at Red River he helped them win two state championships. Red River is just as guilty as the private schools of recruiting players. Grafton Park River got a kid from Williston when they won state a couple of years back. The kid won a state tennis title at Williston in the Fall, and then won a state hockey title in the Winter, sounds pretty fishy to me..... I don't really mind when private schools have in-state transfers, but its when they go out of state that it starts to bother me.
  5. The Gophers will win the national championship though....
  6. I miss Zach.... Okay Deeks, a lot of us are upset but I don't think that any of us were ready to jump off the deep end. I told all my friends that UND will be an even better team next year with or without Zach. I'm going to predict that UND will make the NC game next year, hands down. We should all get free pizza though.
  7. Ziggy is probably going to leave from what I've heard.
  8. Yeah, but he'll be getting paid to take it in the NHL.
  9. I'm a little nervous as well, but I'm darn proud about the defensive effort put forth. If the Sioux do lose, it won't be because of shaky defense, it will be because we couldn't put the puck in the net...
  10. Hats off to Holy Cross, they played great. I'll give out three stars of the game because I don't really want to get into depth on UND's lack of quality hockey. 1st Star: Jordan Parise 2nd Star: Tony Quesada 3rd Star: Zach Parise
  11. Here's a Sioux fan that would like to see Parise in the net against HC and then if he plays well put him in against Miami or Denver (if he plays well the Sioux shouldn't lose). Then I'm thinking in the frozen four put Brandt in there against Duluth or Minnesota, and he'll win that game, and stand on his head in the championship game 3-2 win over Maine.
  12. If Voce, aka "Academy award winning DIVER" win the Hobey Baker award I will put absolutely no more respect whatsoever into the award. There is no way that he should be in the top three finalists...
  13. Which is a nice rink if I do say so myself. I had the privilege of playing there once or twice in my career and I can't complain. Tech should be happy that they get the chance to play their last couple of games in a nice rink. (Englestand, or XCEL Energy Center)
  14. He is by far the most dangerous player in college hockey on the power play. When he gets a chance at a one timer from the top of the point there is a good chance that the puck will go in (see CC series, BU series).
  15. I believe that Ballard is the Gopher version of Mike Prpich. A gritty hard working player, yet takes the time to pi$$ the other team off occasionally. Of all the players on the gophers, he's probably the one I hate the most though for the jersey thing he did to Lundbohm at Mariucci in the playoffs a couple years ago. Like my roommate at the time said: "If it was my last shift of my college career and Keith Ballard was on the ice I'd make sure to two hand him at least twice before getting off the ice."
  16. Tech @ UND..........UND in 2 Mankato @ UMD.....UMD in 2 UAA @ UW.............UW in 3 CC @ Denver.........Denver in 3 SCSU @ UM............UM in 3
  17. Actually Warroad played at noon every day of the tournament last year, but in years before that you are correct.
  18. thank you sir
  19. Is it on TV in Grand Forks?? Thank you.
  20. Where was the vote to eliminate this thread completely?
  21. Justice is served, congrats to Jake!!!! Both of our goaltenders have been players of the week, and they said goaltending would be a problem....

    Jake Brandt

Jake Brandt definately deserves to be the WCHA Defensive player of the week and the national player of the week as well. I paid pretty close attention to other games in the WCHA and the only player who has a chance to dethrone Jake of his rightful place is Bernd Bruckler, who only gave up one goal this weekend, but played at Alaska.....
  23. You betcha it does!!!! The thing that really tickles me though is that UND only lost those two games by a score of 2-1, and one was on a questionable (note* I said questionable, not wrong) call on a goal at the end of the game.

    Jake Brandt

The bigger the game, the better Jake plays. Jake was absolutely outstanding at Mariucci this year and at the NHC against some very tough crowds. When you look a the series at Wisconsin it wasn't really a make or break series. Yeah a lot of the blame went on him for losing the first game of that series (I lost my confidence that game, but it wasn't his fault) but you expected the Sioux to have a letdown at one time or another during the year. This weekend I expect Jake to get the nod on Friday night and win a share of the McNaughton cup for the Sioux. If UMD loses on Friday expect to see JPar in the net on Saturday, but if UMD wins, I think Jake has earned his chance to win the cup for them outright.
  25. I'd just like to start this thread to formally apologize to Mr. Brandt. After losing that game in Wisco I kind of lost confidence in the kid and I deserve to be reprimanded for it. Jake is the starting goaltender for the Sioux for the rest of the way out in my opinion, and can lead this team to the promised land. Stats his last four games (all on the road) GAA-1.5 Saves-98 Save percentage-94.2% Forgive me Jake!!!
