  1. Depends what you mean by free. Having paid $300 for my staff tag I can park for "free" in A lots that haven't been closed to allow only paid parking for an event. However with the no shuttle policy more A lot spaces have been captured for paid event parking Hence, my neighbors who work at the U and never take the shuttle are being asked to pay 10 bucks a game for the same spot where their A tags were previously sufficient
  2. $300 for a generic A hang tag for UND. That won't get you in the ramp for events or most of the work day.
  3. Good for you, 82. My work around is to walk the two blocks in whatever conditions North Dakota can throw at me for the next 6 months. I'd appreciate it if you see a 61 1/2 year old woman with double cataracts, a bad back and an arthritic hip (me, btw) toddling down Columbia Road in the rain tonight, you try not to splash her. But if you do, please know how comforted I'll be by the adage that that's just the way the world works sometimes. Allow me my outrage, huh? I'll afford you the same courtesy the next time your personal ox is gored.
  4. Interesting anecdote regarding underutilization. My impression as a shuttle rider for every game since 2001 is there might be more than that but I guess we'll just have to wait for the data. Someone asked about shuttles to the Al for football. Just ran out to Hugo's and passed 3 empty, running buses waiting on the side of 2nd Av N ---maybe they will be utilized to transport the team rather than fans
  5. I believe those were the facts and figures I have asked for. I'm sure it's heresy in a stingy state like ND but sometimes government needs to provide a service without counting beans.
  6. Noted. It has been more than 3-5 business days since Parking said they were forwarding my email to Lucke.
  7. Yes, associated expense and underutilization is what parking office told me
  8. Tonight at the game, when REA asks you to text re any concerns or issues, I will text "Put pressure on UND to bring back the hockey shuttle."
  9. I hope everyone adversely affected by this short-sighted decision has registered their displeasure with UND. The parking office referred me to Peggy Lucke, one of the finance veeps.
  10. I am still waiting to hear from Peggy Lucke about the figures that justify this decision. Rather than jerk the bus out from under its users what would have been wrong with an intermediate measure? Sell a season pass at a nominal charge for shuttle to defray some of the costs. Run fewer buses , e.g., every 20 minutes and only when full. Don't run buses in the 3rd period, wait until game is over. All of the above. Or, how about this, first ask those who use the shuttle for suggestions re: how to make the shuttle runs more efficient and less expensive.
  11. Had an umbrella and still ended up wet. Very Mickey Mouse and second-rate of you, UND. Meanwhile, I get an email from Tim O'Keefe touting the $324-some million hauled in by the Spirit Campaign.
  12. For my money, which is the only money I have to spend, the logo and lettering pop best on the gray.
  13. I asked the parking office where I could find a list of expenses associated with the hockey shuttle. They kicked my email upstairs to Peggy Lucke. I'll let you know what she has to say.
  14. Instead of Prohibition there will be....a new martini bar
  15. UND's response to my email: It was a difficult decision for UND to make and I assure you it was not made without taking many things into consideration, most importantly the impact it would have on our Go Green permit holders. Unfortunately, the amount of expenses far outweighed the cost of their permits. My knee-jerk response to their response: if you care so much about the impact on us, why didn't you solicit our input before the decision was made?
  16. Haven't heard back from the Ralph. Here's UND's explanation for why they bailed on providing shuttle service: "UND will not provide shuttle service between the parking ramp and the Ralph Engelstad Arena this season as a result of increased transportation costs and lack of sufficient utilization to support the service." Underutilized? Buses jam-packed after a game is more like it. And I sent UND parking an email of displeasure for their part in this bad decision. That address: und.parking@und.edu
  17. Terrible decision that impacts me personally. I live 6 blocks east of the Memorial Stadium parking lot. Park there, walk the gerbil tube across Columbia, hop on shuttle at ramp and get whisked away to the game. I choose this system precisely for safety and convenience. Don't have to fight any traffic anywhere. Don't have to walk 3 blocks in cold and dark. Terrible decision! And, yes, in my younger days, I did walk to and from games at the old Ralph despite how dark 2nd Av N is. Just sent an email to the Ralph asking them to reconsider this revenue-enhancing, misguided decision.
  18. One more toque delivered in GFK today. Two more to deliver and my job will be done. Shout out to NDH for schlepping hats to Grand Forks and taking lanyards back across state lines.
  19. I have enjoyed meeting all the GFK Sioux fans I've delivered toques to, even Goon who I already knew. I've got only 3 deliveries left to make: LeftyZL (waiting for rendezvous arrangements from your local surrogate); Siouxcia (see you this weekend) and Cratter (you don't call, you don't write, what gives? check your PMs for crying out loud!). Thanks, MafiaMan, for making our personalized fleece dreams reality.
  20. I have made initial contact with everyone who asked for Grand Forks delivery. Get 'em while it's hot as hell outside.
  21. If you asked to have your toques delivered for pick up in Grand Forks, I am pleased to tell you that they arrived yesterday. Would pick up on the UND campus, say at Stomping Grounds coffee shop in the Union, be convenient for everyone? I don't have the hats with me at work today but I will bring them tomorrow and you can pm me with contact information. Let's put a sick lid on it, Grand Forks!
  22. I am the distributor for the toques being sent to Grand Forks. They haven't gotten here yet, if any of you were wondering.
  23. And, in other news, the NY Rangers just fired John Tortorella
  24. If the Sioux are in the regional that might be hosted at Scheels, how is 5k seats enough?
