  1. There's another tribute to you on the wall of the men's room too. No reply back yet from my dad regarding hopping on the bus in Belfield...

As they say, "there's no such thing as bad publicity"

  2. The two goal lead is the most precarious in all of hockey; it's really hard to hold onto. I said that to the Sioux fan next to me between the 2d and 3rd periods. And the boys proved me right. What a great fan experience this was! Our section (106) was almost solid Sioux fans and the GWG was scored in the net in our corner of the rink. We went nuts! Hugs, high fives, screams, jumping up and down. Hakstol then slid across the ice and saluted US, the fans.

We were loud almost the entire game, though we had to pick our spots so we weren't drowned out by the Go Red crowd. I thought we'd get our heads handed to us when we started chanting "Let's Go, Sioux!" during the Wisconsin crowd's rendition of "Varsity."

Wisconsin was Kohl'd but North Dakota is Frozen. Let's go get number 8!!

  3. Call Al--Maybe your dad joins up at the Copper Kettle?

You do realize that Belfield is my hometown, right? Sad, but true. Highway 85 runs from the Canadian border all the way south to the Black Hills. I've been on that route many times.

Anyways, I am asking because the return-trip is most important. I'm trying to talk my dad into going on the trip with me - I'd have to drive to Fargo to catch the bus and he would board in Belfield. If the return-trip is different, that causes some issues.

  4. I jerry-rigged a Ride the 'Stache to Denver Button at the last minute before the Princeton game (Thanks, Sioux-cia for the safety pin). I bought the last green moustache at Party America, stuck it on my jersey, tore off part of the package illustration of a goofy face so that I had a pair of googly eyes and a nose, used the flap of a hotel envelope to write the "Ride the 'Stache" legend on and pinned them right above the green moustache. I'll smooth out some of the rough edges before Denver but it's staying on the jersey as an amulet.

  5. The driver said west to Belfield on 94 then through Rapid City and overnight in Deadwood then into Denver on Thursday morning. I thought he said shortest possible route. I haven't Mapquested it but I'm sure Al knows route details or can find out. It would be great if we could pick you up in Fargo.

I was waiting for this post, YaneA.

I believe the bus is heading west on I-94 and then taking the Belfield exit and Highway 85 south, correct?

Is the return trip following the exact same route?

  6. Al Pearson is taking a fan bus to Denver. It leaves from Grand Forks the morning of Wednesday, April 9 and stops overnight in Deadwood. If you want Al to get you tickets, the total (not including meals and hotels) is $340 a person. For more details, call Al at 218-779-5740.

  7. How about this for the Princeton game: "We may have beaten you today, but we'll likely be working for you tomorrow"

"If You Can't Beat 'em, Hire 'em"

    "Princeton vs. UND:

    The Upper Crust is Toast!"

  8. I've been working on some ideas for signs after I woke up from a dream in which the Sunday sports page had the following screamer headline: "Oshie Elevates Game; Pisses All Over Princeton"

    Here's a few:

    "North Dakota 4-cast:

    Kohl'd in March

    Frozen in April"

    "Hop on the Handlebars:

Ride the 'Stache to Denver" *

    after win on Sunday:

    "Sioux Join

    Mile-High Club"

    or

" Sioux Win 'Kohl War' "

    * Thanx Big for the inspiration

  9. Al Pearson asked me to post the following information:

A fan bus to Madison will leave from the Ralph at Midnight on Friday and return Sunday following the game. Cost is $190. That's $125 for the bus, $65 for tickets. Al will set up hotel rooms which are not included in the $190 price tag. If you want to go, call Al at 218-779-5740.

  10. For Princeton game....

    "It's Midnight for Cinderella

    Bye Bye Tigers"

    "Princeton Founded: 1746

    Losted: 2008"

Did one like this when Yale was here a couple years ago:

"ECAC= I.V. League" illustrated (by my artistic neighbor) with an arm in a, in this case, Princeton jersey sleeve, getting a blood transfusion

  11. Love it!

This gives me the opening to ask: what are the lyrics to the "Force to be Reckoned With" promotional jingle? "[something something something] Go far [?] Feel the pride, feel the win, feel the force to be reckoned with"

Can anyone fill in the "something something something" part of the lyric?

  12. My niece sent me a vintage copy of "Sniglets" by Rich Hall. This is a collection of words that aren't in the dictionary but ought to be. My favorites are "hempennant" (any article of clothing that gets caught in the car door and travels down the highway in said condition), "idiot box" ( the printed square on return envelopes that shows you where to put the stamp in case you can't quite figure it out yourself) and "fenderberg" (that solid chunk of ice and snow that accumulates in the wheel well of an automobile). It was one of the books that my niece and I would read together when she was a little kid.

The neighbor kids gave me a Sioux keychain with my name on it and a light-up Sioux hockey player wall decoration which I will plug in for mood lighting while listening to away games on radio. I got a gift card to Hugo's (everybody eats), and Christmas cash which I converted to a Jeopardy DVD game, a new coffeemaker (actually 2 new coffeemakers because, on the the third day of using the first new one, I cracked the decanter and there were no replacement carafes in that model) and a George Foreman grill. Also, JFR was kind enough to send me genuine salt water taffy from the Jersey shore. Once it thawed out, it was delicious!

All in all, an embarassment of riches.
