I get accused alot for sticking up for the Coaching staffs on message boards, and it is probably so. If a Coach does it the "Right Way", teaches, keeps kids in class, helps control and handle off the court/field issues, I know success is measured by Wins and Losses and as long as we win more then we lose I'm happy It's Great to compete for Championships, but now that we are D1 those are going to be alot more difficult to obtain. What I do not understand is that it is alright for UND to beat a higher level opponent, to achieve a victory or a win when we are not suppose to, but it is never alright for this to happen to us...? Now if we were losing to the Sioux Falls College's and Mayville State's of the world on a regular basis, then I would say we need a change. This however is not happening, we may not be a dominate as we were at times, but we still field competetive teams. ( with a bad loss every once in a while) This years MBB teams is struggling because of injuries and some new personal and trying to compete at a higher level on a regular basis. I'm hopiing the Mayville State game was just a one time thing that seems to happen in the world of athletics......or yes, supposed to happen to everyone except our Sioux...?

I apologize, if that came off as harsh, it was not intended that way.... My point is that it will be extremely hard for anyone to come in to UND and catch lightning in a bottle. Maybe one of the most promising Coaches to do that in a similar situation was Greg McDermott. He was able to win at Wayne State (D2-Independent), then back at his alma mater in UNI (took him 5 years), and is now struggling in the Big 12 at ISU. Those kind of Coaches do not come along very often, and we will miss on some, before UND hit's on one. Maybe Brian Jones is it...? I think we should at least give a guy 5 years before we judge his work as a success or it's time that we need to move on. This D1 one thing is going be a success (imo) only if we can find a decent conference to compete in, no matter who is Coaching the boys.

Which one of these is lighting the basketball world on fire...? and what makes you think they could do any better job at UND...?
-
Yes your right, I miss understood his response.... both games UNI at home, and ISU in Ames are going to be kind of name the score type senarios......
-
The idea behind the Princeton offense is that it is easier to recruit the talent to make that work, then to try and recruit the talent we would need to run up and down the floor with the likes of Texas.....

Hey don't take that experience away from me, I witnessed the Minot Miracle with my own eyes, great road trip...NOT http://www.fightingsioux.com/ViewArticle.d...p;ATCLID=774999 Game is actually in GF in about a week, part of a 2 for 1 deal with UNI....

No we should not lose to Mayville State, but I also remember a UND team losing to Minot State with Jerome Beasley, it happens. Did not go because it was Mayville State, and I'm saving my money when Duke comes to Grand Forks.....but looks like when you get out rebounded by 18 (no hustle) and you have 13 assists and 15 turnovers (no teamwork) bad things will happen. My point is going forward you will increase your odds of success with a fatter check book, ISU budget is 2x what UNI's is and 4x what we probaby have. Then you have to get the young man that wants to play at UND (on the road for most big games) and in Grand Forks, if he knows where we are located...?

It's transition, with transition their will be growing pains. It is not all Rainbows and Bunny Rabbits for Tim and Craig at CSU, 16-47 last 2 years, 7-3 so far this year...? It will take time to grow a program in Grand Forks. There is alot of difference right now between the 3 programs in BBall that I follow closely ISU-Big 12 with all the money, resources and tradition they have it is still hard to get the great athlete to Ames. UNI does more with less than any mid-major I know a tribute to both Mac and Jake and what they have built there with little resources, but it took a long time to get to the bottom of the Mountain. UND has a long, long way to go, it will take time.

Family.... Not saying he would take it, but Family is big with Coach Dauber

I got to put a little of Jake's play on the Coaching Staff. I really thought we could have got Jake some more reps earlier in his career, aside from some emergency duty at Grand Valley, he really had no entensive playing time or regular snaps. He was throw to the Texas Tech Raiders in his 1st start with a broken hand and 9 new offense players.... I think this next year he will have a much better comfort level....

Congrats to the Sioux Football on a Good Year, and we will miss those Seniors.... Anyone that listened to the post game interview with Coach Kelling and Hammer at he end could tell by the heart felt emotion in JK's voice what these young men have meant to the UND Fighting Sioux Football program. As a Fighting Sioux Fan, I say Thank You!.... You could also tell what kind of character, constitution and make up of these Coaches that we have. They are genuine and care about the growth, well being, and future of these young boys they helped turn into young men. I have said this many times before, it is not always about wins and losses with me, This group makes me proud they are from UND..... Nice Job

I agree the pressure will be on. I believe recruiting is based upon connections, hard work, and a sucessfull program. TB seems to have or be able to do all 3, but results must come soon, with the new title Associate Head Coach comes that pressure. The season we our having now can ot be easy on the Buck, heck he was not a good (happy) winner, he certainly will not be good at losing....
-
I would hope with Travis Brewster back into the fold we would expand our recruiting base a little more into Iowa, Chicago, Wisconsin, Colorado, and more.... If I recall correctly we have only had a couple of girls outside the North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa area in the last 20+ years...?
-
Not sure how many of these have been mentioned on the main board...these are just my opinions Offensively we have 2-3 Good Prospects at OL, but Joe Kleason out of Cretin-Derham Hall really stands out as a Big Contributer next year... The WR postion is the next I have noticed, because we are thin this year... But Greg Hardin from Nebraska looks good, as does Blair Townson (QB- Moved) has great hands, quickness and size... Defensively is where we really pick up some talent and depth with... OLB's Dominque Bennet and Cordero Finely will be good.... Garrison Goodman as a Inside Backer On the DL Look for Broc Lundeen....at DB"S both the kids from Florida Chris Hall and Chavon Mackey will be in the mix from day one... The Future looks good these young men and many more have some Athletic look and can not wait to get their chance...

This is why are scout teams sometimes handles the number #1's. There have been more scuffles between the scouts and the starters then in years past. The group that is red-shirted are going to be fun to watch. We are on the right track, just takes some time.

Box Score... http://www.fightingsioux.com/downloads1/36...DB_OEM_ID=13500 You can not have the point gaurd 5-TO/2Asst line, 19 TO for the team compared to 4 for UMKC... The Sioux shoot well enough to win any game they play 60%, but you can not give the ball away... I would hope the TB would make a difference being a Senior, but DM is a Senior also... To DM Credit he was our only aggressive offensive weapon at many times in this game...

Sioux Men played hard, but not very smart...? 1st half they shoot a incredible 10-14, but have 11 turnovers....? 2nd Half came out with better intensity and grabbed the lead, but missed at least 5 layups and the turnovers continued... Can not critize their lack of effort, it was there, but they need to be smarter and hold on to the damn ball.... Enjoyable Game to watch, but the wrong team ...Won

You really need to get a grip......(reading comp may help) Are we 0-11...? Seriously We just won our 600th game in program history! But guess what at the end of the day, it is just a Game, that is all a Game, Not Life or Death, not going to War....It's a GAME! By the way GO SIOUX!

You guys still mad at Jimmy K dropping that ball against UNC, Shannon B fumbling in the mud at Indiana, PA, Bowenkamp missing that reciever in North Alabama......? Dale, Bubba, and Dosch leaving....how could they....? I know I still send them cards every year.....

I do not see one, it's call transition for a reason. Given time (couple years) we will be fine. I do not have to have a 30 point blow out win to be entertained. I also try and remember that this is a secondary by product of why these young athletes are here. They primary reason they came to UND was for a education, their performance in the Athletic arena is secondary, and mostly for enjoyment. I do realize that the Coaches are getting paid, and as long as they are helping teach the athletes the values that help them enter into society as responsible people, I guess I'm happy. I only wish we could grade out each week our History, English, Mathmatics, and Science Professors...? Then again we could hire Bill Belichick.....

I did not know we needed one....? We have 2 now, you want 3.....?
