It would be nice if college hockey or the NCHC adopted the NHL’s colored jerseys being worn at home and whites on the road. I remember there being a short stretch of trying that out. Not sure why it didn’t continue.
I wish the NHL would go back to white at home. Nothing better than seeing the road team’s colors and knowing who’s in town.

Minnesota thought the same way about Union College a few years ago too.
So what’s your prediction?

Except it wouldn't have been knee on knee had the Omaha player not tried to dodge the hit. You see JBD pull his own leg back so the impact was minimized. This hit was a non-issue.
Exactly.

I think Donato has helped the Wild turn their season around. Also, the Bruins are doing great with or without Coyle.
I’m not much of a Wild fan, but I pay enough attention. With that team I’m not sure if it’s as much a result of the players added/subtracted or if simply shaking things up has injected a bit of life/newness/uneasiness to their core. Things were getting pretty stale and that team was downright boring.

Coyle has 0 points in six games with the Bruins. Donato has (2g-7a--9pts) in 8 games.
So What do you actually think of the trade? I like it as a Bruins fan because Coyle fits at multiple positions and gives them a more legit 3rd line option at center. They may have moved on from Donato a bit prematurely, but they had to give something to get something to help them win this year.
Edit: Forgot it this was the Wild thread, so mods feel free to move to the NHL thread if needed...

Actually, reading this board kinda sucks right now.

Hey, Hoff finally took a step forward. Against Canisius!

I don’t disagree that the PP we’ve seen this year is a mess, but I’d like to know what the PP% needs to be before we’re satisfied. Do they need to get it above 20? 22? 25?
To me it just seems like our talent depth up front is the biggest factor this year. We normally aren’t an outstanding PP team, but it gets the job done most years. Seems the type of players we recruit may be a factor, as we’re usually very responsible in our own zone and have a good PK.

Hoff, Smith and Casey Johnson. Pretty sure a lot of this team is Hakstol recruits really though.
As soon as Berry took the job he was in charge of their development.

It’s nice to see that at least the message board is unifying in disdain for the product on the ice instead of bickering about other things.
Brilliant ploy by the team.
“Maybe if they hate him, they won’t have time to hate each other.”

So just seen Brads post about Blaisdell having 6 points last night and it got me thinking is the coaching staff choking the talent out of these players when they get here? Most of these guys scored in juniors and now they can’t find the net, Guch, Weatherby, Adams etc.
Berry’s systems block creativity? But we have culture and history that should be enough to spur us on. Something is way wrong with this team and this is the second season of it. These players don’t just stop scoring ?
Maybe it’s the “culture” that’s holding them back?

More meaningful on-ice contributions from the guys with championship rings. JJ needs to step up the offense and Gardner needs to stay out of the damn box.

Clearly the NHL should go to 162 game seasons.

Didn’t Lee Goren play a game or two in the W and have to sit out his freshman season?

Ya know, I laughed for the first few games after the name change, but then it started to get old and it just adds to the problem/s...this coming from a guy who once thought I’d wear sioux gear till the day I die. I still will have and sometimes wear it, but will stand with the new name from here on out. Ugh. The points given above about changes and atmosphere change do make sense, however, when the arena is full, we need to be all on the same page to make our atmosphere the best atmosphere in college hockey, and we are so far from it. We just have the nicest arena...
It almost like our fan base is suffering from from a lack of chemistry similar to the hockey team this year...

I’d be ok with changing the goal song at REA, but I’m also careful what I wish for when college kids are left to make decisions.
Can we please go back to the Bruins discussion? Marchand for Hobey!

On the bright side we killed Gardner's penalty at the end of the game. Positive!

3-1 heading into the second, we outshoot them by double, and we’re losing 4-3 heading into the third. This is different than any other year than I can remember.
Yeah, our PK usually isn't a big steaming pile of garbage most years.

Now we are just being stupid.

It’s either Shaw sucks as the PP coach or the guys aren’t quite good enough to pull off what he’s trying to do or a little of both. It feels like most of the year this team has been on the same step as everyone else and not a step a head like we’re used to seeing. And it hurts even more now that Jones isn’t playing. On the PP it feels like once we get the puck the opposing team is right on us, we need to be a step or 2 ahead of them and I havnt seen it.
Likely a little of both. They aren't scoring 5x5 either. Nine periods without a goal by a forward.

But....depth. Remember that talk? Code for zero bona fide offensive threats.

Goehring or no Goehring, I just don't see goaltending as the major issue given the lack of goal scoring and poor special teams play lately.
That said, Karl leaving certainly could be a noticeable effect down the road, but right now it may be too early to tell the impact given Cam's a veteran.

Well, the unintended consequence of giving the students the “best seats in the arena” is they can’t act like students.
