  1. The early semifinal slot is nicer in case, God forbid, we have to turn around and play a 3rd place game Saturday.  This could be part of the "historically better" Saturday results for the Friday afternoon participants.

  2. They're safely in playoff position due to their lead on the 9th place team, not the 8th place team. Aren't you smart enough to know that? There aren't very many games left. It would take a MONUMENTAL collapse for the Pens to miss the playoffs, almost as monumental as blowing a three games to none series lead (maybe even more so). However, I'm not saying it isn't mathematically possible.

My bad...I got confused by your "head sewn to the carpet" comment regarding the B's probability of finishing ahead of the Pens.

Rank these three items in terms of likelihood of occurring please:

    - A team blowing a 3-0 series lead.

    - A team blowing an 11 point lead with 13 games left and missing the playoffs.

    - A man having his head sewn to the carpet.

  3. It's funny because it's OK to proclaim that a team is safely in a playoff spot with only a 6 point lead on 8th place and 13 games left; but DON'T YOU DARE proclaim that a team with a 3-0 series lead will safely advance to the next round of the playoffs. HOW COULD YOU BE SO FOOLISH????

  4. Our suspended "source," gfhockey, asked that I "alert the boys on the football forum."

      "More trouble for playas."

I'm just passing this along for him.  I have no other information.

  5. Don't the Panthers still have three head-to-head matchups with the cheap-shot artists from Boston? If so, I think Florida controls their own destiny (which should make Boston fans extremely nervous). Funny how their fanbase can still run their mouths as much as they do when their team is clinging for dear life to the 8th and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Outside of NDSU football and the New York Yankees, is there a fanbase more obnoxious than the Bruins? I don't think there is.

    Wait...wait...wait...let me get this straight...

In the three upcoming head-to-head match-ups between the Bruins and the Panthers, is it only Florida who "controls their own destiny?"

    Please explain.

  6. Now I haven't watched a lot of games in the other conferences, but do the number of reviews the officials are doing seem excessive in comparison? It seems like overall we are seeing waaaayyy too many reviews. Maybe they're legit, or maybe the guys on the ice are using it as a crutch, and aren't being as sharp as they need to be on the ice. Call me synical, but sometimes I wonder if they are just going to the review so they can get their story in order for why they blew a call.

  7. Ideally, I'd like to ditch the shootout...the PWR doesn't recognize them anyway. But, if we have to have them I'd be in favor of going with a 5-point system.

As for the booth official, I'm guessing it would be something that would have to come down from the NCAA, but it would be interesting to see the NCHC pioneer it with a couple exhibitions. I just wonder how Andy Murray would deal with one less person on the ice to complain at.

  8. Unless they trade Subban.  It could be that they brought up Subban now to showcase him and see if they can get any takers.  Chiarelli is looking make a trade soon here for the stretch run.  If Subban gets dealt, that makes Zane all that more important to the Bruins.

They brought Subban up so they could send Svedberg down for a conditioning assignment.  Niklas hadn't been getting any playing time and they wanted to get him a couple games in Providence to knock off some rust.

  9. Outside of the officiating let's not over look the fact that the 2 goals Zane gave up where hardly snipes....he got a piece of both but didn't stop either. UNO had maybe 2-3 good scoring chances in the final 30 minutes of regulation.

Massa got lucky a couple times but he was the difference last night.

To his credit, Zane held down the fort pretty well from 5 minutes into the first through the end of the period.

And I think he only lost his stick once last night! :-)
