It seems like Thomas is making a lot of people mad lately. He also doesn't appear to get anything done effectively until the general public knows. I don't know any of the inside details, it just seems lately that he can't get the job done until everyone knows about the particular situation.

Thank you. You just proved that you have no idea what a compromise is.
-
Do you even know what a compromise is? What have the season ticket holders been willing to give up?? NOTHING!!! If they gave up their seats in sections 105-106, or something on the correct end, this discussion might be over. You sit and complain that the students think they deserve seats, but why should they not deserve seats compared to the season ticket holders? Feel free to attack the students all you want, but you are just showing your ignorance and your double standards.
-
Of course that happens, I've seen it several times. The students try to get the crowd going during EVERY game. It dies out when all of the season ticket holders are sitting on their a$$. When the team is losing, they are even worse about cheering and standing. I guess when you donate money you only have to like the team if they are winning. Before anything is said, I know there are student fans that jump on the bandwagon as well, but the student section is still always full even when the team is doing bad. That is not something the season ticket holders can say.

From tonight's game: "The fans have been on their feet for the last seven minutes." What?? I thought they weren't allowed to stand there. Maybe you guys better go take care of the situation. We don't want this epidemic to spread.

There was a policy, but it was not reinforced as much as the first year. Interesting......everyone said the atmosphere last year was better than the first year. Why stop the improvement, allow standing the whole game. If you want to sit, watch your boring sports like baseball, basketball, and tennis. More exciting sports like hockey, football, and NASCAR involve people standing up a lot more.

I have said all along that I will give up my student season tickets if there is a loss of seats in the lower bowl. It has nothing to do with a boycott, but rather I don't want to pay money to sit in the upper bowl. There is a waiting list to get tickets, so there would be someone willing to take my spot. I believe the idea behind the boycott is that if the students are gone, people will see what is missing without the students. Unfortunately, the atmoshpere sucks already with the students present because of the no standing policy. I agree that the boycott would make the situation worse, but with how many people in the AD department and regular season ticket holders trying to ruin the atmosphere for their comfort, it might not matter. It is time for UND and REA to decide what they want. They can have a fun place that supports their team, or they can have a money-maker. Supporting the team with your money is helpful, but if you are going to just sit down, want comfort, and not cheer, you can do that from home. You would see the action closer on your big TV.

There has always been the concern that the students do not lose any seats on the lower bowl. I do not believe that demand has been met with any offer, let alone any concerns on which end we are on or assigned vs. general admission seating.

What I was questioning was why everyone assumed it was a done deal. Obviously it wasn't. I agree that some bad PR is going to come about if anything is forced.

Nobody ever answered me, but I just saw a clip for the news that said the Student Senate REJECTED the option to move the student seats.

We don't have Uncle Ralph to scare people out of town anymore.
-
Maybe the wrong Minnesota team is being punished for a bogus penalty call in OT of the 2002 NCAA Championship.
-
Yeah, the students get sections 106-111 and we get to stand, or Parise, Bochenski, and Murray are not playing.

I'm guessing the camera had a more powerful zoom than the human eye. I'm not trying to be a jerk about it, I'm just making a point about the difference of view.

As I look at the picture and how small the players look, it reminds me what it would be like to watch from the upper bowl. Other than the first row, it is pretty hard for someone to watch a hockey game if they like to see players up close and be a part of the action. There is nothing wrong with people that like to watch from higher up so they can see all of the ice better, but I would be surprised if any of those people sit higher than five rows up.

Am I missing something? The Herald article said that moving to the corner article is the choice and the UND Student Senate can decide if they want to move. It doesn't sound like anything is decided yet. I'm curious how the Student Senate will seek opinions from the students. It is still a loss of seats, so if it happens, I think I'll just invest some money into a big screen TV. It will be better than watching from the upper bowl and there will be more atmosphere.
-
The question is what can students do if they lose the seats on the bottom bowl and are put in the wrong corner. If we are only given one section, I will not bother to renew my tickets. I have to get their early enough now to get in one of the bottom two sections, so I'll just watch it on TV. Will REA or UND care if I don't get tickets? No, they have waiting lists for student season tickets. If I say I will not give a penny back to UND will UND care? No, they can't look into the future. If they could, they would have designed the arena so students could stand as they did before. So I would say that the students have nothing they can do about this situation. UND will pay for it in the long run, but they only see the present. With the tuition increases and future plans to get rid of tuition waivers for grad-students, UND is going to have a lot of problems in their future. For now, having an arena that has less atmosphere than the Gophers, it is bad enough.

That was a concert for people in college 10 years ago.

Most of the people that I know want to be on the sides, not the ends. People do have different preferences though. When they first picked the student seats, they were in sections 107-110, 308-309. Had they kept those sections, there probably wouldn't be a problem with seeing. From what I had been told, the suite holders can see if the top few rows are empty. If we have to be on the end, give us 103-106, 303, and 306. The fans in Wisconsin are on the end and have a great time. It is unlikely any of this will happen because they have lied to the students about almost everything. Students were supposed to be allowed to sit in their seats any time on game day and not be forced to wait outside. There was also going to be a suite given away in a drawing to a student for each game. They also talked about getting good college concerts (e.g., DMB). It was all lies!!!!!!!

That's great that REA is making a profit. It is too bad they have to screw the students and can't do it in more positive ways. It will be nice to refer any of UND's attempts to get donations to the money they made at REA.

I'm from Fargo and now go to UND. I could live in Fargo for the rest of my life, but I could never live in Grand Forks. Grand Forks, however, is a much bigger hockey town. Fargo is going to have a tough time trying to start all D 1 sports, especially hockey.

Does Kunitz know how to play defense? I wonder how he will make the transition to playing with the Ducks. Instead of skating near the offensive blue line when the other team has the puck, he will have to be by the red line.
-
I think this thread needs to be put on top as important so everyone knows that he is a liar.

I don't agree that they are a good team. They are very cheap and would not do well if they received all of the penalties that they should. They also have several guys that just suckhole. CB should have been able to coach them around it, but I think CB has had one of his worst coaching years. He blew the goaltending choices all season long. I hope he realizes that as he evaluates the year. I hope nobody leaves the team early for the NHL because there is nobody on the team that is ready.
-
If anyone is keeping them in the game, it is Hansen. How can you call a penalty for receiving 5 punches? The same way you can take down Parise without a call I guess.
