  1. I only agree with this when we are playing a quality team that plays clean. Too often clutching and grabbing is not called. Other times they will call the first penalty, but refuse to call more because they don't want us on the powerplay the whole time. Of course in other cases, the penalties for each team must be the same for a game that was called well.
  2. I remember when everyone thought Adam was the worst ref. We have two guys in the poll that are much worse. My guess is that Adam has been spending some quality time with his goat.
  3. I can't vote. I can't say either one is actually a better ref than someone. I never expected a rookie to come in and compete in his first year.
  4. It was in the side notes and not in an actual article. It said he suffered torn ankle ligaments and hopes to play next weekend.
  5. Actually I normally am restricted by HIPPA, but according to the Herald, Jones will miss the game because of injury.
  6. So tonight's game will be a chance for us to get our scoring going. Hopefully there is some defensive practice since Jones is not playing. We don't need any players suspended for fighting though.
  7. The show will be taped ahead of time, so we won't have to try to read the guest's lips.
  8. I am in shock. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/columns/story?id=1632492
  9. There was music, but it was too quiet to understand what song it was. They must have used the guest mic to record it.
  10. I'm sorry, but I can't get excited for the band to play "Stand up and cheer for North Dakota" when we are forced to sit down.
  11. I'm sorry, I didn't specificy that he worked with hockey players. He has worked with other sports as well of course. So to answer your question, the Winnipeg Jets.
  12. I agree with that. The whole rush procedure is a pain and it would be much easier if every seat was taken by someone with the ticket. On an unrelated note, a sports psychologist talked at UND today about working with a former Jets player. It was pretty interesting.
  13. I believe the rush seating system is still needed. I don't know how many games will actually be sold out, but there are many seats open in the lower bowl that should be filled for each game. It is also important to realize that if a student with lower bowl seats can't go, they may not give/sell their ticket because he/she is still responsible for that person's behavior.
  14. As of now, it is true. They will have to buy the tickets every week, they will pay more money than the price of a season ticket, and they will have to wait early for their choice of seats. It could change.
  15. It is too bad I didn't know that then. That is too bad about the girl. Did someone buy the ticket for her, or was everyone already getting two tickets?
  16. I knew the people right in front of us, but then I think the next tent was three women and a guy. There was just one girl that studied out front most of the day Friday, and hooked up electricity Saturday night or something. Was that your group?
  17. I think I was behind you because of the number. I was in a Cabella's tent. I was right ahead of the frat tent that had the fire going in the grill, music, and TV. I also had a TV going and was playing hockey on the PS2.
  18. The Dakota Student reports that 465 red tickets were given to students in line, and there were only 574 tickets available. There are 120 students on the waiting list.
  19. What tent or area where you in? You must have been close to me if you were 250. That is good that they worked out the time issue, but it sounds like it went until at least 4.
  20. I agree it is a choice on going to class, work, etc. However, I don't agree that people should have their spot held in line for that. If it is going to be that way next year, you might as well set up a tent two weeks early with a large group of people. All you need is one person there at a time.
  21. My point is that the UND Student Body will not want to reward people for skipping class in the future.
  22. Thank you for the concern, but don't feel bad for me. With the electricity I had (I mean didn't have if anyone comes with a bill) and where I actually ended up in line, I think I played the system better than anyone in line. Again, it was due to the help of some people that occasionally post on here.
  23. I haven't heard anything on that yet. Someone told me on the news that they claimed there were 1,000 people that camped out, which isn't rue. I know people who came that morning that had tickets in the 400's, so I am guessing some people got turned away that came in the morning.
  24. Here are my thoughts on the process. The first problem is that people started camping out on Thursday, so people missed class. I'm sure the student government won't want that to happen again, but people are already planning on going earlier next year. The second problem was that there were no rules. Basically you could set up a tent and as long as one person was there at all times, you could be holding that spot for 20+ students. According to one security guard, people could find friends on Sunday morning and get in line then. It was the students job to enforce the budging. If that happened, there would have been a lot of fights. Of course the Sunday line scramble was helped a lot by giving out tickets at 7 AM, since many people would try to sneak home at night and then come back in the morning. So basically when I started out I was probably around person number 80. When people had everyone over and partied, I was probably around number 400. An unofficial list was made early in the evening on Saturday, so then I was around 300. More people were gone on Sunday morning, so my ticket placed my around 260. Thanks to a few people on this forum, I ended up closer than that and got my desired seats. So basically it was everyone for themselves. I don't know if any fights started over people cutting in line. I agree that things were OK when we first got into REA. Everyone filled out their paperwork. The woman said I was free to pick out my seat, but then the security stopped me like I was crazy for trying to get my seats. So we waited and lined up by numbers again, and then we walked the Green Mile. Each person was given a five second start to pick his/her seat. The payment process was a mess. There were only 3 of the 5 or 6 windows being used. They should have had all the windows open. The printing of tickets seemed to delay the process as well, so it might have been better to mail them out or have people pick them up later. Overall, I would have so say that I am unhappy with the system. I was getting screwed by the system, but I was lucky to take advantage of it in the long run. I got the seats where I sat every game last year, so I don't feel bad for anyone that I got in front of. People that were at tent 10 or back got a bad deal, and people that couldn't wait in line this weekend got a bad deal. REA or the construction company will have a high electricity bill, so they will not like the process either. If the system is mainly unchanged next year, I believe people need to sign up as they get there. Random checks of people in line need to be done with people only being able to miss a select few (due to getting supplies or something). The bathrooms were overflowing on Saturday night, so that needs to be considered as well. The missing of class will probably cause the biggest problem, and I'm sure people who have tickets now will want seniority. I will be gone after this year, so I am very glad that I will not have to experience this mess again.
