Which of those in any way demographically compares to the United States?

They're likeminded democracies whose leaders benefitted from Covid for various reason.  Add the UK to that.  Just like Johnson, Trump had a political opportunity set up on a tee-ball stand.  Trump blew it because he can't get out of his own way.

This idiocy is what Shapiro is alluding to.

Which world leader would you point to as a success story?

Merkle, Morrison, Marin, Moon Jae-in, Adern, etc to name a few.

I mean UK's Johnson received a gigantic popularity boost when he was diagnosed.    But, unlike recent GOP Presidents (Reagan, HWB, GWB) Trump does not have the ability to unite both parties, nor the nation.  Even when it's in his benefit to do so.   His entire Presidency is predicated on exploiting existing divisions within our country......and then everyone else follows suit, even on the left.

It's perhaps a smart political stance when times are normal, but in times of national crisis it's a disaster.   As such, our country is a $hitshow right now.

Nah, Trump’s response to Covid was the gift to the left.

Trump could've politically seized the moment like many other leaders did. Trump, instead, turned the situation into a circus.  Even pundits like Shapiro are seeing the writing on the wall.  Trump's stupidity, narcissism, lack of control and ceaseless need for attention is the problem.

Fair enough on the international consequences. So why even release that he's gotten dexamethasone? The mixed message is what has everyone going.

The standard is to project an image of strength, and/or craft a message that’s in the President's best interest.  It's been the standard since forever.  WH doctors aren’t, nor have they ever been immune to playing (or being forced to play) the PR game.   We recently witnessed the same in Britain with Boris Johnson.

But, unlike in the past, it's more difficult to do in today's world.  This leads to mixed messaging and non-answers, which opens the door for stupid conspiracy theories.

Imagine a little harder then.  Generally speaking secret service will tell you that behind the scenes the Republicans that they are assigned to are muh more gracious and down to earth than their Democrat counterparts, which is ironic given the national perceptions that exist for each party.  Gore, Clinton (mostly Hillary) and the Obama's were pain in the asses while the 2 Bush's were universally liked.

    Whataboutism.

That said, you're probably correct in what you stated.  I wouldn't doubt it.    But it doesn't nullify this particular single incident.

    This is quite the scandal.

Quite the missed political opportunity you mean.   Trump could've shifted some points with the sympathy vote; it's on a tee-ball stand for him.  Worked for Boris Johnson.  I thought Trump potentially 'got it' after his video yesterday.

Then he pulls this stunt.  And here we are, the circus is back in town.

But that's just Trump being Trump.  Sometimes his dire need for positive reaffirmation supersedes common sense.

I don't agree with the language but the reason you see this is because of the media bias and corruption of the political elites.  For instance the obama/Biden administration spying on Trump with Hillary and Comey.  Hunter making deal worth billions and selling out America.  Dems have lost the election and don't realize it.  You sure don't

My comment was in regards to the GOP's stance on social values, expression and norms.  Those shirts are a reflection of that.    Hence why it's hilarious to see the Trump followers do a complete 180 now that Trump is the butt of the nation's jokes.

You know what’s wrong with the video the President put out tonight?

He was humble, showed humility, and appeared human and vulnerable and truly thankful.

His opponents can’t have that. He must remain the big orange bogey man.

Perhaps if Trump regularly acted like he did in that video he wouldn't have so many haters.   It's super easy to be humble and thankful in a time of personal crisis/need.   Maybe if Trump wasn't such an obnoxious bully his entire life people wouldn't be pointing and laughing right now.

Yea I’m sure López Obrador is shaking in his boots at the prospect of paying for the wall.  .:silly:

How ironic the most divisive, vindictive and ‘renegade’ President in recent history is tweeting about unity and LOVE! now that he personally is facing the Grim Reaper.  Funny that.

funny thing is....this is exactly why he was elected president in the first place.

Yep.  It's easy to project an image and be a tough guy.....until **** hits the fan.

Trump should tweet he's at Walter Reed because his bone spurs are acting up again.  Ha!

Please.  I don't doubt that his advisors wanted him there right away.  You think a stubborn person like Trump just went along with it right away?  Or like most guys did it take some convincing before he went dragging his feet?

A person like Trump (who doesn't adhere to protocol and is deathly afraid of looking weak) isn't going to the hospital unless he has serious concerns about his health.....particularly when it entails making the walk of shame to Marine One with a mask on in front of the world.   Trump knows PR.  In this case he chose health over optics.

Point being, good luck with the "I had Covid, it was nothing!!" shtick when you admit yourself to the hospital.

That U17 lineup is loaded.  Wow.  But then again they are the best 17 year olds in the USA.

Should make for some great international competition in the coming years.  From what I'm reading Russia U17 is thoroughly loaded (including that Michkov phenom) and Canada is always stacked. What a fantastic opportunity for Spicer.

You really don't have a clue do you?  An abundance of caution is always taken when dealing with the commander chief, regardless of who it is and that doesn't just apply to illness.

If the decision was predicated solely on safety protocol, Trump would've been in the hospital the second he tested positive.  Same for the 1st Lady.

His symptoms dictated the move to Walter Reed.  And, in the end, it was Trump's decision.   He put himself in the hospital.

Advisers made last-minute push to get reluctant Trump to Walter Reed

    When was Hicks’ condition confirmed?

Do we know Hicks is the source?

Apparently Hicks tested positive Wednesday.  Trump (and/or his handlers) was notified Thursday before he set out for Bedminster.

His administration, knowing full well Trump was exposed, still commenced with not only the fundraiser, but also an indoor round-table policy discussion with 20 people before the main event.   Eight hours later Trump tested positive.

I fully understand not wanting to bunker down, fine.   But refusing to adhere to minimal safety protocols? - Even when you know you're potentially putting other people at risk (without them knowing)?   Trump's hubris and painstaking disregard for others is why people are laughing at him now.   Womp womp

  15. Turns out the Trump Admin was keeping Hick's info quiet to the public.  Her positive test only broke via a leak to Bloomberg news.

This means Trump still went ahead with that indoor fundraiser knowing he’d been exposed to Hick’s coronavirus.  This is essentially validated by Trump's doctor who is now referring to his Covid timeline in terms of 72 hours.

Is not 'personal responsibility' the main talking point of the Cultists in regards to Covid?    The Trump Administration doesn't even have that.

EDIT:  Welp, there you go.    Imagine being one of those attendees after hearing this.

The White House learned of Hope Hicks' positive coronavirus test -- and exposure to the virus by President Donald Trump and others -- before Trump arrived in New Jersey for an indoor fundraiser on Thursday, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows said, but allowed the event to go forward anyway.

We view the people celebrating the Presidents hospitalization the EXACT same way we viewed the throngs of pestilent slime that celebrated the towers falling on 9/11.

If Trump hadn't been such an ruthless jerk towards the suffering of others, he'd receive mountains of sympathy.   If you're a decent person, people will reciprocate.  Unfortunately 'born with a gold spoon in my mouth' Donny has acted like bully his entire life, with no regrets.
