  5. you're gonna get this to work
  6. so true. When I first heard about the FSSN I couldn't believe it. A sports team showing their games FOR FREE! (well, you need the setup or have cable) but as a viewer outside of ND this is great. Love watchign the games (and before someone says it...yes I am a UMD Bulldogs fan but I like watching the Sioux also). There have been some UMD games that the only way to see it is with the FSSN (Friday games...Duluth doesn't show alot of them unless its UMTC) a couple years ago they showed the Sioux Sports Weekly show on Thursday nights on FSSN. I guess they can't come up with the money for 1/2 hour no commercials? But yes it does cost money (thats why the GVSU game is with the "home" announcers. WDAZ would have to pay for 2 uplinks (one with Sweeney doing audio and the FSSN feed with commercials). Why couldnt they show it Friday before the game? Turn on the transmitter at 6:45, show the weekly show then the game. so true. Montana pre-empts all CBS stuff for the games and Mont State is ABC. They even post the satellite coordinates (they change weekly). maybe a couple non conference games and the rest be conference. agreed on both accounts anything that DAZ owns the rights to would be no issue. Its the ESPN stuff that is an issue. But I guess the big thing is how much money this would cost. Satellite space does cost some money but I wonder if you get it monthly if that costs less? Maybe they could accept donations like them religious chanenls do? (just a thought)
  7. no cable only in Michigan
  8. uh oh did you throw it off the roof or did HockeyDad fall off the roof?
  9. yes its on the FSSN 11:30 AM
  10. too far away.
  11. didnt you take a tape measure and measure 30" across to see how big the dish is? you and hockeydad will do fine installing it
  12. for most people, the co-exist just fine. the recever has both A/V plugs and a coax out so depending on the setup of your TV, you may have an extra set of a/v plugs available. If not, you can use the coax connector If you have too many sets of a/v plugs, get yourself a A/V switcher. Radio Shack/BB/CC carries them. They allow you to hook 4 sources (FTA box, DirecTV box, DVD player) into one set of A/V plugs on your TV and you just push a button to switch between them. Radio Shack's version
  13. The S-1 is a stationary setup designed to pick up one satellite (like the satellite the FSSN is on). The receiver that is in that package is one that I have and it is a very nice box.
  14. you're right. I am a UMD fan first, but I also cheer on the Sioux. If I wasn't a Sioux fan, why the hell would I watch the games? To come back and rub it in saying "ha ha you guys lost"? Last I checked I didn
  15. Sioux/Badgers was on Dish Network UMD/Wisco was on free to air (different satellite than the Sioux though) The Anchorage games were on C-Band (the big 6 foot dishes)
  16. in DAZ's defence, they figured with the win against USD, they would have stayed #2 and A. had a bye in 1st round B. Been at home last week who would have thunkit that they would drop to #3
  17. so true I watched the Sioux/Badger hockey games with thier announcers I watched the Sioux/Anchorage games with their announcers I watched the UMD Bulldogs/Badger games with their announcers This weekend I'll watch UMD and Anchorage with the UAA announcers as long as the game is on. Thats all that matters. Heck, give me no announcers, just the raw feed with sounds of tghe crowd
  18. free to air satellite. HockeyMom posted the link to the systems. Its for people who cant get the FSSN because they have Dish or SirectV or are ouotside of the cable FSSN area.
  19. we're getting the game...isnt that good enough? As noted above the bouncey ball games were at home where eveything is setup. If they sent somebody to Allendale, all it would be is for sideline reporting. We're getting the feed. If you don't like the announcers, turn on the radio me...I'm happy the game is on
  20. no problemo. I'm here to help
  21. its on the FSSN
  22. The FSSN will not be on Dish or Direct ever. Couple reasons -Midco is part owner and since they are a cable company -It is not a full time sports channel. Dish or Direct will not add a sports channel unless it is 24/7. The one exception they did was Sportstime Ohio, which is home to Cleveland Indians games. They started just as a station for Indians games. Now they are close to full time. so the only way to see the FSSN is to get cable or get a free to air system. DaveK, why not get a FTA system? They run a couple hundred bucks for a basic system and there are a few people I know who have it just for the FSSN. When the season is done, the box gets unplugged until October. Well worth it in my opinion. Here is just my thought. Why can't WDAZ put the FSSN on a subchannel of their digital station? That way if you don't have cable but have an antenna and can get the HD/digital signal, then you can see the games. For the uninformed, a digital TV channel can have more than just one channel. As an example here in Minneapolis we have 24/7 weather on the NBC (11-2...11-1 is the main NBC station). The ABC station has 24/7 weather and news on their -2 channel.
  23. nope Comcast local (its a cable only channel)
  24. fine by me. I just want to see the game
  25. SWEET Smart thing for DAZ to do by just taking the feed. So they only have to pay for one uplink (FSSN)....the uplink from the stadium to the station in GR is already paid for and they don't need to send a crew
