  1. UNO announces candidates BASKETBALL: Four finalists for the Nebraska at Omaha head women's basketball coaching job will interview this week, athletic director Bob Danenhauer said. The four who were selected from a field of 79 candidates are Annette Wiles, head coach at Fort Hays State; Tony Hobson, head coach at Hastings College; Patricia Shearer, head coach at Fort Lewis College; and Amy Gusso-Williams, assistant coach at Oklahoma State. Lisa Carlsen resigned in February. Anyone heard about the Mankato job? Did they hire anyone?
  2. Well, here ya go since the link did not work on the GoBison.com website. FARGO, NORTH DAKOTA--North Dakota State batters rapped Minnesota-Crookston pitching for 31 runs and 30 hits while the Bison pitching staff allowed the Golden Eagles just three hits in 14-0 and 17-0 wins here Tuesday in college baseball.
  3. What day is this? NDSU vs UM-C Some Bison? Don't be throwing the first stone when you live in a glass house.
  4. USD got rid of their BB team back in the 80's also I beleive. Notice in the article that they give out 2.3 scholarships for BB, but yet are adding 19 to women's sports. WHere is the money for the other 16.5 coming from? They say that cutting BB will give them $100,000. Maybe someone out there knows, is that the budget for typical NCC school BB team? Seems to me the BB team is the scape goat, just the Men's Swimming was at Mankato.
  5. Hey Nuc. Apparently you know about half of what you are talking about. If you knew more, you would know where I am coming from. I am not raging on Z-man as you imply. Though my wording does sound that way. I have seen the guy coach and work and he is very competitive. He wants to win and wants his guys to win. I realize that college coaching is not an ideal situation and you have to coach/make decision based on what you have for a staff. I just hope our starters last the season. If they do, they should have a very good season. And you are correct, I see these guys come and go all the time, so I do have an idea about their injuries/arms.

    Und Track

Does UND have Track? I thought we were a Hockey school? J.K. Didn't Tyler Stotlz break the record in Javelin last weekend in Missouri? They are on the road again. Back to Missouri. What a ravel budget they must have. They go down there 3 weeks in a row.
  7. The Hobey Baker is for College Hockey is it not? What Zach did at the WJC should not even be considered in the voting, granted it may be hard not to consider it. If it did make a difference in College Hockey's MVP, then shouldn't Al Montoya of MIchigan beaten out Danis? I hope Zach wins, but the numbers in college hockey favor Lessard. Quote from HobeyBaker.com "Since its inception, the award has become recognized as college hockey's premier individual honor." Besides, remember where the Hobey is homed............Mn.
  8. Did anyone see that they did a poll to rank the teams after the Elite 8? What is up with that? From Fightingsioux.com- "In the final USA Today/ESPN/WBCA poll release on March 30, the North Dakota women

    UND vs NDSU

Biosnfan1234 Tell that to Amy! I am sure those rings she has mean something! Even if those were the only sports that mattered, even by the NCAA, the Bison will not be adding any rings for a LOOOOOONG time.
  10. Did anyone see the recruit who was in visiting on Tuesday? According to Swygman from his radio show, he was impressive. He is from Columbus, Ohio I believe. He can flat out play I guess. Must be a JUCO. He may be someone who does not fully qualify academically or whatever for DI. Anybody got details?
  11. UND would never get rid of CB for his coaching.
  12. It is great to see the hard work of these guys pay off. Imagine how good they could be if they did not have to practice indoors until April!! It has to be tough to come and practice indoors for 3 months . One thing that I hope does not end up hurting us is riding the pitchers arms until they are shot. What is wrong with using relief pitchers? JJ for example has a career history of arm problems. He already has pitched 3 complete games. At this rate how long will he be in the starting rotation? I wish we could develop a rotation that used some relief to preserve the arms of the starters. It seems that we have a ton of pitchers. SOme have to have some ability to keep hitters off balance for 1 inning (or more). Plus it gives the younger pitchers experience. I know the pitchers want to go the full distance, but think of the big picture (no pun).
  13. Good point about Koupals defense being a weakness. She never guarded the oponents best post. If they switched screens on defense, we tried to match her against Boese b/c she could not stop her. Crouse could have defended Boese.
  14. What is the deal with Bowenkamp? He needs to sit out to keep his eligibility for next Fall? Is it grades he needs to concentrate on or did he red shirt too many times? I recall him only redshirting once. Anyone know?
  15. Who cares? No one even knows who is in that made-up conference. Is there a post-season tournament in FB? I didn't think so.
  16. "Koupal is national player of the year The University of South Dakota's Mandy Koupal has been named the State Farm/Women's Basketball Coaches Association player of the year for NCAA Division II. The senior from Wagner also was named this week to the first-team Kodak/WBCA All-America team. Koupal will be the only Division II player to participate in the WBCA Night of All-Stars on April 3 in New Orleans. She will play for a team of college all-stars who will take on the USA Basketball Women's Senior National Team. Koupal's teammates will include Naismith Player of the Year Diana Taurasi of Connecticut, Lindsay Whalen of Minnesota, Kelly Mazzante of Penn State and Alana Beard and Iciss Tillis of Duke (providing their teams are not in the Final Four). The 6-foot-1 Koupal averaged 24.2 points and 11.4 rebounds a game for the Coyotes, who finished 25-8 this season. With 2,496 career points, Koupal ranks sixth all-time in Division II scoring. She is the only player in North Central Conference history to earn three straight MVP honors and just the fifth player to be named All-NCC four times." This is quite an honor for her and NCC, but I wish she had not gotten it. Yeah her numbers were very impressive. but that is because she was the team. She did not lead her team to any championships nor to the finals of any championship. I guess IMHO, it is easier to look that good on a team that is loaded with talent. I predict a Sioux will again earn this honor within the next 2 years.
  17. Check out this headline from Sioux Falls Argus Leader.... I think it sums up what SDSU is going through.... All thought I am not sure 1 NC is a reign. If it is, it is a very short one, at least they got 1. See ya!!!!
  18. Jacks bow out of Elite Eight, 96-79 The #3 team stomps SDSU with a 20-2 run in second half. Jacks had 27 turn overs. Sounds like Sioux kind of game. Where was that tough SDSU defense? California PA shot 74% in second half. SDSU did outrebound them, which is a surprise since Cal, PA leads the nation in rebound margin, outrebounding their oponents by 12 per game! They must be a legit team. No title for NCC this year.
  19. It is also on the MSU-Mankato web site. I guess no Amy Ruley, Chad Lavin or Aaron Johnston as it was rumored. I cannot see Stromme taking it with all the baggage that comes with MSU-M (no bduget etc). But any of the other 3 could take the job. Fish does not have head coaching experience. She may have to go outside the NCC and get it before she gets a posistion such as this. I think it will be either Nelson (good for her) or the CSP guy, who has done a good job there.
  20. Maybe they will want in NCC again? Hope not. That is a jv league school.
  21. He does? Who Rip? That is one. MJ, well he is hard worker, but not go to guy. AJ, it it easy to see who got the talent in that family. Evan, he will be All NCC next year again. I see the Jucos as being unproven talent. Can they play as a team? The thing these guys need to do is work hard in the off season and dedicate themselves to MBB. I have yet to see a Glas team that is dedicated in the off season - to weights, running, improving game, etc. I think the off season will decide on how well they do.
  22. The officiating in DII WBB is absolutly terrible! I do not know where they get these people. I know some do high school games. I was watching the Mn State Girls games on TV last night (Jennifer Hoffner's (Wagner) team was playing) and saw who we call Big Butt Vicki on there (when she runs, she kicks her big ass). She made some of the same terrible calls she makes for NCC/NSIC games. The guys are just as bad. The thing that kills me is the inconsistency. Then when they make a bad call, they make up for it by making a second bad call. 2 wrongs do not make a right. Lets get some consistency and let the teams decide the games!!!!!!!!!!! How can we win when 2 players foul out with 5 minutes to go??
  23. I saw their web site also. The part about 4500 seats was bolded to stick out. Apparently this is not always the case and people are concerned about enough seating. Since it is all general seating, they will probably keep selling tickets until everyone is sitting on each others laps! Or standing room only! What a joke.
  24. 2003-2004 All-North Central Conference Women
  25. Having just looked at the virtual tour of the arena, I see that it has seating only on one side. Talking to one of the asst coaches, they did have seating on both sides for the NSIC tourney. But still, what a JV league set up! NOthing like what an NCC school could provide.
