  1. I am still haunted by the Prpich open nets in that game.
  2. I've followed the team since the early 90s and I can't remember it happening. Maybe 1997? I know the 2000 team had 9 or 10 contributing upperclassmen and that turned out well.
  3. I really find it funny that the cities take potshots at each other. Both cities are so similar. Fargo has some more to offer, just because it is bigger. Really both communities have it very good. I mean just compare them to just about any city in South Carolina. The community of Grand Forks should take a back seat to nobody after what that city persevered through in 1997. It was at that same time that the people of Fargo did so much to help. I'm not too concerned about what some idiot says.
  4. Before you give that answer, you should see Spamalot...
  5. It's not in Minneapolis...
  6. In terms of scoring, really we lost Porter and Toews and we bring in Malone and Trupp. Not a 1 to 1 trade off by any means, but not devastating to a team that was scoring well at the end of the season. In addition, and always neglected by fans is that the rest of the team comes back 1 year better. Also, if we can get something out of Forney this year, we look to be loaded. This may be the best offensive Sioux squad since Parise / Bochenski / Murray.
  7. I would say this is different because Gregoire always had the opportunity to go to UND. Also, UND getting kids from Winnipeg is alot closer to home than Minnesota getting kids from the Iron Range.
  8. Hmmmm... Where there is smoke... Still I'll hold off on that judgment until I see it official. He is young, but the Sioux REALLY need him behind Phil. Phil can't play 45 games. No way in hell, Kyle is a hard nosed, hard working player who will do whatever is asked of him. We will need him as a senior leader.
  9. I think even the "experts" will favor this class. Except Bob Norton, he's going with BU...
  10. Gregoire is an 08, Fink & Kristo are 09.
  11. F*&(#$# Ducks... Go Sens!
  12. I agree that playing time will be tight, but I think that he will come in, practice, maybe get into a few games, and be ready to go as a Freshman or Sophomore in 08.
  13. Marto has a signed LOI and can't play juniors, therefore it is a safe deduction that he will be here. AND while we are loaded at D this year, we will be hurting next assuming our 3 top 50 picks are gone. I don't believe the Hamilton stuff, unless I see an official roster. BTW, next season is 2007 and Gregoire is a 2008, so I don't think they are forgetting him.
  14. Graves, rhymes with saves. Well, it worked last time... Also, Eskimo, thanks for posting. It means alot to here from someone close to the family. I appreciated having it reaffirmed yet again that Hak and staff are fitst class all the way. Welcome to UND and your new extended family Jason!
  15. Based on stats and stats alone, he appeared to be Shattuck's top player at the end of the season.
  16. I guess this is now more official: http://www.grandforksherald.com/articles/i...mp;section=News
  17. Not funny...
  18. Mattson is likely a 2010, Lamoureux may be a candidate to accelerate.
  19. I only post this know because there is alot of talk about 2008 recruits and I wanted to point out just how limited space will be for additional players. Players that may still have eligibility but are likely to be gone: T.J. Oshie, Brian Lee, Taylor Chorney Joe Finley Returning Players Forwards (12) Ryan Duncan, Andrew Kozek, Ryan Martens, Brad Miller, Matt Watkins, Shea Hamilton, Chris VandeVelde, Darcy Zajac, Michael Forney, Brad Malone, Evan Trupp, Brett Hextall Defense (4) Zach Jones, Chay Genoway, Derrick LaPoint, Jake Marto Goaltenders (2) Aaron Walski, Anthony Grieco I also put 5 forward in italics since if any of those 5 were to have a breakout year they could also be a flight risk. Elite Freshman Class (likely to be tops in the nation) Forwards (4) Brett Bruneteau, Mike Cichy, Matt Frattin, Jason Gregoire Defense (2) Ben Blood, Joe Gleason Goaltender (1) Brad Eidness This means at present we have 16 forwards, 6 defensemen, and 3 goalies. I have no doubt that we will make room, somehow for a Toews or Lee (likely coaches will know what other players will leave early). We also have no need for another goaltender. There is a chance that we could find another defenseman (or 2).
  20. Well in that case let the articles of impeachment roll...
  21. Gregoire is an interesting case. He had a serious injury this year playing for Lincoln and missed a ton of time. As a result his draft position may have taken a hit. But when he did come back the kid absolutely lit the world on fire. He appears to be a natural goal scorer. If you want to see his stats go the the Lincoln USHL page. Gregoire is now projected as maybe a 5th round pick, but has the potential to go far higher. I suspect if he had played the entire season as he finished it, we may be looking at a top 2 rounds pick.
  22. Added some players, Removed Fink from the "prospective" list 2007: I think this is done give the number of returning players. 2008: Almost certainly some 2008s will defer to 2009. Right now I would contend that there is room for 1 maybe 2 more players at the most. Forwards: David Toews - Shattuck-St. Mary's - Obviously Derek Lee - Salmon Arm BCHL - One of the Top Forwards available Cam Lamoreux - Drumheller AJHL - Family Ties Kelly Zajac - Salmon Arm BCHL - Family Ties, not as highly regarded as Darcy. Justin Johnson - Eau Claire N. HS - I know nothing Defense: Brett Kostolansky - Shattuck-St. Mary's - Top defender, but I'm not sure we will have room. Maybe room for another defender? 2009: (Likely a HUGE class with many forwards) Forwards: Greg Lamoreux - Elite Canadian Player Zack Budish - Edina - lets hope Finley and Gleason are doing some talking Ben Hanowski - Little Falls - Gopher fan with a Sioux coach, if he gives us a chance I think he will see that UND fits his style and development needs better. Sam Alfieri - Shattuck St.Mary's - yet another great Shattuck Forward Tyler Landman - Roseau - Smaller dynamic forward. Danny Mattson - Holy Angles Defense: Nick Mattson - Chaska HS/USNTDP Matt Bruneteau - Yup, that family Ben Hughes - Shattuck-St. Mary's - I know nothing Ben Montgomery - Shattuck-St. Mary's - I know nothing
  23. I wonder if we will get another underage Canadian in 2009?
  24. So who do we have to send to Denver in exchange? Will they take Lives-to-Annoy? The Sioux 2008 and 2009 classes are looking VERY solid.
  25. I am really interested in the whole story. I am happy to have a talented kid like this come to UND, but he comes here with a target on his back.
