Nicholson is no longer on the team correct?
No, I don't think he is even enrolled into school anymore.

Wow would that be dumb to transfer to a transitioning school. Any desire to make the NCAA tourney?
Yes and no, depends on what you are looking for I guess. Couple of his best friends play for St. Thomas

You really think his parents are going to straight up tell a random person they just met their son hates UND and has his bags packed? lol I really hope you are right tho
Omot's parents attend all his games. Roundtrips to St. Thomas will be much easier than Grand Forks

Do you know something or just assuming based off the past?
All rumors at this point, but I guess we will see starting next Monday

They can announce their intentions to leave at any time, but the portal doesn't open till April
Portal opens 3/15, the day after the tournament selection. Get ready, it’s going to be rough.

Guessing he ends up at that position?
Went from the assistance 9th grade football coach at Red River to UND.. nice promotion I guess

I mean if we are going to compare dumpster fires, at least playing for a bigger program comes with bigger perks. If this was a competitive UND team, I may understand the concept. But c'mon. What has this team/program shown in the last handful of years that would really make someone not consider other options?
I'm not saying it is right. I am old school and think if a school is giving you an opportunity and an education, you should be grateful for it and show up ready to work for 4 years, but that just isn't the way it is right now.
Along with NIL money that wouldn't be available around here
-
Trey isn't going anywhere, his best friend from Bismarck (Ryan Erickson) will be here next year. There is some thought this was the only reason they offered Erickson, but that's for another discussion I guess. Who knows about BJ. Even though the Gophs are a train wreck, the chance to play for your home state program, close to home and on a bigger stage has its advantages.

Did something just happen?
A certain high level coach is leaving the program, sounds like it was his decision.

Loyalty.
Maybe...TBD I guess. Just imagine if his home town MN Gophers offered him spot next year or the year after along with say 500K from the booster club. Loyalty win out???

This team definitely has talent though is the only issue. With a different coach and a different system we are a middle of the pack Summit team. Sather absolutely needs to go, but they need to try keep Omot, Eaglestaff, Brooks, and Norman for sure.
The new NIL agreement in college sports will forever change the landscape. It will be hard as hell to hold onto high talent moving forward. Greisel from NDSU was given $250K when he signed with Nebraska last year, Scheierman from SDSU was given around 500K when he signed with Creighton. That's big money- life changing for most college athletes. Cant imagine what Grant Nelson will be offered after this year, certainly more than what Nodak Insurance is paying him. Omot has a high ceiling and I am sure big offers will be coming his way. Realistically, what keeps him around here???

We challenged the wrong thing?
Yes

I see Kraft (PG - Red River) has dropped 30 in 2 consecutive games

Nothing against Norman, but I just watched his Midco feature and in it he said that no other schools wanted him. That only UND was recruiting him. Seems like there are a lot of guys on our roster this year and in years past under Sather that had similar situations.
How many guys on our roster had 0 other D1 offers or even D1 interest before coming here??
Add Doppler and Erickson to that list for next years recruits

Two of those players aren't PG's... Mason Klabo is the only PG listed
Dissette may be a combo PG/SG, kraft is listed as the top 2023 PG in prep hoops
-
Looking at the top PGs in ND high school right now… Klabo, Dissette (Minot) and Kraft (Red River) could all be upgrades to the PG position.

Not blaming Poolman but for some reason this team has looked gassed at the end of games. It was 2-2 half way thru the game and how did it end up?
Maybe the reason lies with Joe Blacks and not Poolman… sorry did I say that out loud ?

Bids have been sent in a bit ago.
Our bid is believed to have been the 2nd and 3rd highest bid. They were only concerned with Montana and Idaho bidding more. Montana should now be out. The bid time we requested was a 2pm game
