Wouldn't it be ironic if D1 hockey took off in the SEC before it ever does in the PAC?  With ASU going D1 we hear about other PAC schools kicking the tires, and hockey has really grown out West, but the PAC schools are hurting for money because of bad TV deals.  The SEC is flush with cash and there are some ACHA club programs in the SEC with good followings.  I could legitimately see some SEC schools starting D1 programs.

You can only build so many football and baseball facilities.  At some point you have to spend that money in order to keep your tax exempt status.

I still think the Big Ten needs to really put some pressure on Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, and Indiana to start D1 programs.  All schools have facilities in place, under construction, or have plans for facilities in various stages.

Did the Big Ten ever or would they consider UNO for Big Ten hockey membership?

Good to see Drake Caggiula skating again with the Blackhawks after concussion time off. Two points last night for him.

Great steal and breakaway goal by Drake last night

Our power play is horrendous. It doesn’t really appear much improvement has been made. Goerhing needs to rethink this one. Perhaps we are doing the reverse Hakstol where we do great in the first half and fizzle in the second.

A little early for that thinking!

  4. RIP Wooger

i am sure I am not the only person on this board who heard Woog during a broadcast of one of the last games the Sioux played the Gophers before they left the WCHA.  Woog cautioned that the Gophers better tighten up their chin and jockstraps because the Sioux always come to play.  And play hard. He went on to say that “I can’t believe we are giving this up”, referring to the Gophers imminent departure from the WCHA and specifically, the rivalry with North Dakota. He had immense respect for us even though he really wanted to win against us.  He loved the rivalry.
