Wrong! Had the school handled this proactively, I may agree with you. They made a bad situation worse; by handling this retroactively.

This decision should have reviewed long before this kid ever set foot on campus. The Coyotes botched the way they handled this, and UND has followed suit. UND just showed there lack of leadership here; had they cut the cord on this in June or July, it would have made way more sense. Deciding half way through the first semester, and a day after the coyotes cut them, show that they are just following suit and appeasing the status quo.

To be clear, I am not making an argument for this kid to be on the team, and I'm certainly not going to defend what he did. I don't give a rat's a$$ if he is the #1 draft pick. MM issues are 1 part of the equation here. UND's handling of the situation is the other. They accepted the risk on the kid, knowing what they were taking on, then changed course.

I'm not saying anyone should or shouldn't feel bad for this kid. He has clearly done some terrible things and I have no idea where is head is at now, but I cannot even imagine the rollercoaster of being 18, going to UND to play hockey, starting school, making new friends, getting drafted, then having everything pulled back like that. What a mind

Amen to that.  If the kid has turned things around and there is evidence from his recent coaches that he has, they should have held their ground.  I hope there is more to this than it appears, because it looks like we took the chickensxxt way out.  Probably won't see any press releases from Chaves or Berry thanking Armacost for having their backs.  Armacost should take a look at the edition of the Alumni Review in honor of President Clifford's passing and read the testimonials from kids who Tom Clifford took a chance on.

  2. Jost signs minimum one year contract to return to Avs. Forecast in the Denver Post is that he will have to fight for a spot on the 4th line. Trade value is about a bag of pucks and a few sticks.

I have to check but I believe they have already spent more for less in return. I may have read that worng thou... so many tweets and signings.

Sounds to me like he took $1.7 per year to play for Detroit.  He was making $2.3 in Vancouver.  I'm assuming those were both quoted in US dollars, but I'm not sure.  Anyway, he got a job with a good organization, although they've been down for awhile.

    Yeah, it looked, not good.

Back? hip? it's definetly not the normal Brock Boeser.

Boeser taken off first line in second period. Looks like his ice time going to be seriously reduced.

  5. Just got on Google and was reminded that he had a likely season ending injury back in Feb. torn rib cartilage.  He came back about a month earlier than expected before the season was called.

i agree.  He is playing hurt.

    He is obviously playing hurt.

I'm guessing it is his back the way that he is laboring as he skates.

I was kinda thinking that might be the issue. But haven’t heard any commentary to that effect.

A total of 21 players from this title game played in the NHL.  UND (12) sent James Patrick, Craig Ludwig, Troy Murray, Dave Tippett, Rick Zombo, Phil Sykes, Jon Casey, Dave Donelly, Gord Sherven, Darren Jensen, Jim Archibald, and Dan Brennan to the NHL.  From Wisonsin (9) came Chris Chelios, Bruce Driver, Brian Mullen, Pat Flatley, Marc Behrend, John Newberry, Phil Houck, John Johannson, and Terry Kleisinger.  That's incredible!

Thanks Blackheart for giving me all these gems to watch during the lockdown.  You should get a Sioux Award for your work!

He looked good, didn't he?  Could turn on the jets.

And the Cooperalls Driver wore.   Never seen those in a college game  before--and only a few in high school years ago.  A little surprised Bob Johnson allowed it, but I guess it says something about the man.

I googled Sherven and he had a few years in North American hockey and then had many years in German hockey. He is a community leader in Calgary in the investment business and works at the same outfit as Perry Berezan.

Is the Mike Stone on that 1982 team related to the current Stone in the NHL?

that 82 team was really loaded.

This Gord Sherven was a very good player. Not one of the more recognizable names to me as the others but a helluva player.

  10. Always great to watch a win over DU.

While watching I’ve been busy trying to see what has happened with some of th players fromUND Michigan and DU since then.

Does anybody know if Matt Shaw has landed on his feet?  He had quite a resume before coming to Grand Forks.  Not that we have missed him at all.
