Especially fine line with refs who have been turning the western game into a figure skating contest.  The games back east are getting more physical than the NCHC.

Well that looked more like the hockey we are used to.  I thought the refs allowed a fair amount of physicality and didn’t seem to be making up the rules as they went along.

Result was was consistent with our problems throughout the season. Rather than taking a step forward from the good play the past few weeks we played at about the same level.  Not horrible but not enough finishers to get the job done.  SCSU tic tac toe goal was remindful of our top line in 2016.  Nice play nice goal.  Not Cams fault I didn’t think.   Was screened pretty good. Cam played great.  Will he get the start today?  I assume so.

As the game went on I thought our passing and trust in each other went south. SCSU speed had something to do with it I suppose. Hak used to preach shorten up the passes and tighten up on pick support in these situations. Who was supporting Rieger on the game ending turnover?  Last guy up the ice should not be the guy with the puck and our backward passing entry plays put us in that situation far too often. But I don’t blame the coaches for turning the D loose either. Seemed like our only chance to score at the time and get back into the game.  It did result in some odd man rushes with Cam having to save the day.

Ok ok I’ll shut up and go do my taxes.

Agreed, We really need to stay out of the box yet play with an edge. Fine line.

I agree with you guys about this years team.  More than anything, college hockey officiating has kind of ruined the game for me.  The guys can't make open ice hits anymore.  Even if the hits are legal, they get penalties just for having big hits, basically.  I'll be at the game though... just love the St. Patrick's day and hockey combo down in St. Paul.

Watched our games against UNO as well as Miami v St. Cloud.  The refs seem to have allowed a little more hitting in the Miami game than I have seen this year.  Maybe they will put the whistles away a little, but probably not for us I suppose.  I'm really pulling for the boys this weekend to put it together.  They are really close if they can stay disciplined while still aggressive.

They want to put NDSU on the map nationally. When they compare the 2 cities you know what they think. As long as the current group of power brokers in ND are in power the more NDSU will grow. UND will become as they say  have more of an internet presence.

Just paid a visit to GF, one of my few visits since leaving in '73.  Campus is great, Grand Forks city not so much.  So many potholes on University Ave and downtown; almost not navigable.  South Washington one continuous eyesore.  Alerus and The Ralph are tremendous.  The weather and the city are recruiting disadvantages compared to some other NCHC towns, especially Denver.

CC got totally screwed on DU's 2nd goal - I can't imagine a more blatant kicking motion

Did it go off Terry’s skate, hit the defenders stick, and then go in?  Don’t know what the rule would be on that but certainly the primary momentum for that puck going in the net was a distinct kicking motion.  They looked at it forever.

I agree.   I'd like to see Alex chill just a little, but he's been good.  And Jake avoids the cliche' a lot better now.  Good team.

Does Sweeney still have a job in Nodak radio or TV somewhere?

  7. Not quite sure about one previous posters statement that Berry better game coach than Hak.  We can’t play with a lead.

I am beyond frustrated with this team.  I’m sure Bubbs feels the same way.  If nothing else this season hopefully will lead to some changes in recruiting and game management, including the breakout plan.

  8. I was at the game last night sitting right behind Thome for the second period slaughter. I guess you guys watching on tv thought he wasn’t given much of a chance but I thought he looked tentative.  Was definitely not what we need out of goaltender on the PK. And I don’t know how the team is supposed to stay out of the box the way they call things in this league anymore. We dominated the first period on the ice and on the scoreboard, got our dinners down during the second, and were out of gas in the third.  UNO did a very good job defending the lead by locking us down at the blue line and retrieving dump ins.  I hate playing like that early in the game with a lead but maybe if we could that would be the way to go with this team.

How long do you think It would take the new AD to starting looking for a new direction if this trend continues? Next season or in two seasons?

I'm not sure who hires and fires the hockey coaches.  It might be the Prez and the AD, but it might also be the Zamboni driver over at the Ralph.

  10. Like I said a few weeks ago to much derision: George Gwazdecky is available.  Do you want to win or continue to watch this debacle.?Berry is in way over his head.  He thinks he can get by with his aw shucks Schlick.  The talent and the

winning will come to Nodak naturally. Recruiting news to go beyond the Moorhead Spuds and East Grand Forks l

I would have to see who the Dman was in a reply...  he was beat butt the CC was forced to the outside...  it was very much a sharp angle shot that doesn't score 95% of the time.  Lucky for the the CC player he had good aim and picked Cam's glove side.

Wasn’t it Mismash? Or am I thinking of their third goal?

Whoever it was the guy was given figure skating time and space.

  12. I don’t like Cam any better than the next guy. But whoever was the DNan on that second goal well... let the guy stroll down the slot, don’t put a body on him, don’t try to block the shot, don’t try to force him to the outside ... whoever that was should have his scholarship pulled and his name go down in infamy.

  13. Absent 5 or 6 surefire NHLers that Berry inherited from Hak, the team has been able to accomplish very little and have looked apathetic and untalented in doing so.  The sooner Berry and his crew is fired the better. They haven’t recruited well and their coaching ability is nil.  The new AD could do worse than to make a run at the CC coach.

  14. We have a decided advantage in that we know which of their lines are the most dangerous.  CC doesn't know which of our lines to defend against because none of them can score.
