  1. Which member of the CBS Line in 2016 is Blake better than today? Better than Boeser was? Schmaltz? Caggiula? Their games were NHL ready. Can we say that about Jackson? And his last second hijinx against Michigan only helps serve the point.
  2. All he does is make ... (gonna say it) ... a whale of a save!
  3. My portal predictions: - UND won't be "most added from portal" this year (three, maybe four, but Merrimack is four already!) - the Rink Live spreadsheet will have 300+ names by May
  4. Gonna take a lot of MD 20/20 to wash that away. Edit: I've been told this generation is just learning of the "mad dog" (and its associated evils).
  5. I'd argue UND runs a roster where the 12 forwards on any given night are "average to plus two sigma" guys on the NCAA forward talent bell curve. You must be an average (or better) NCAA forward to get onto the UND ice. Some teams dream of having a line card of just "NCAA average" much less better than average. Call it a valley surrounded by hills roster. Others teams have a couple "plus four or five sigma" guys but a third and fourth line that is "average to minus one sigma" at best. Call it a "tall peaks and valley" roster. By comparison UND runs a rolling plateau or a "rolling high plains" roster: Tops aren't mountains but the bottoms ain't Death Valley.
  6. You have to wonder if Katie Richards (RIP) figured into those two meeting. Katie had ties to both UND WBB and Mayville State.
  7. The 2020-21 season "never happened". It counts as neither an eligible year nor a competition season under the NCAA "5 years to complete 4 seasons of competition" rule. That's why Gaber could come back. Albrecht never stepped onto the ice in 2019-20 so it only counts as "eligible", not "competition". That's 1 and 0. 2020-21 never happened, Seasons ending 22, 23, 24 put Carson at having done 4 eligible and 3 competition. Thus he could play 2024-25; but, he also turns 26 in May. He's closer in age to Dillon Simpson (31) than the incoming freshmen Boisvert (18) and Swanson (18). Thank goodness that this spring is the last group that the "2020-21 never happened" rule applies to. It's filling the portal with guys looking for one last kick at the can. Won't be like that next spring.
  8. True, but we'd have to make sure his NIL and Alston awards don't put him over the income limits to draw his Social Security monthly payment.
  9. Dang, he was my idea for a one-year rent-a-tender while Heil develops.
  10. Strathmann daren't become Kleven 2.0. If he's getting sat by the USHL the NCAA will reopen Alcatraz for him. Zellers, like I said last fall, is likely playing at the wrong level right now. Based on his DOB he should be with Emery, Laurilla, and the U18s.
  11. Wrong. WRONG. WRONG-WRONG-WRONG! BU will have to deal with UND next fall. Period. Play our game. Quit shuffling lines (see: Michigan). Show no fear. Impose your will. I'm tired of adjusting to the other guys. It's a sign of weakness, and everyone sees and reacts to it. Master Yoda would scowl and call it it "try". If you believe in what you do, do what you do and do it relentlessly.
  12. And didn't he end up CC -> UMn -> SCSU ...
  13. Not exactly. This one was overt and Hak's reaction was the focus. He had to go from big brother/friend to disciplinarian (head coach) that night, and it made him better.
  14. Berry has shortcomings he needs to work on (we all do) before the larger goals. First things first. I ain't winnin' the Indy 500 without a race car. Car, then race.
  15. Go back. Read. It says winning, mentors, but not the bolded. You self-inferred that.
  16. Kids gonna kids. Who knows.
  17. Hak isn't given enough credit for changing from friend/dad to head coach after the Judy's debacle. Berry could learn from it.
  18. I'd rather he talk with Gino, Blaiser, and Hak. Or is that you Gino?
  19. Schlossman has an article out giving first projections of a roster for 2024-25. Excerpts: The rest of the article reads like stuff talked about here: size, faceoffs, experienced defender,
  20. Some speculation in the 2024-25 thread but it plays here too.
  21. Most portal reporting is via TwiX (players self-reporting) so the form isn't directly observed by the pundits like Schlossman. That is a change I'd like to see: Transparency. A true, open to the public, NCAA portal site, including the player's application including why they are looking for a new team (lost scholarship money, grad school, family/closer to home, not enough playing time, etc).
  22. Cooper Moore was a goal away from St Paul.
  23. Officially as soon as the player enters the portal. But I'm quite sure many 'family advisors' have made enquiries and discussed hypotheticals before some enter the portal. That's how some spend very little time in transition before landing in a new location. This says 13 already have new teams: https://www.therinklive.com/mens-college/2024-mens-college-hockey-transfer-portal
  24. How the < bleep > can we be looking at probably (at least?) nine new faces again this fall. Replacements for: Gaber, Ness, Johannes, Albrecht, Emerson Pyke, Pehrson, Britt Persson <-- yeah, I said it
