  1. Tune in Ed at 9:00 this morning. Give him no more than 15 minutes, and then decide from there. That article mentioned Dan Benson. This is the same Dan Benson that promised a Zach Parise interview to Mick Farkas on Monday Night Sports Talk about two months ago. The catch? Benson didn't check Zack's schedule. Zach has a class Monday nights. Do I see some sort of pattern forming regarding interviews and a particular scheduler?
  2. sprig: Be bold. Be adventureous. Drive to the nearest "civilized" town and find a pub and ask for the game to be put on the tube.
  3. Can he play goalie?
  4. Call 'em back and tell 'em to put it on all of the Midcontinent Cable portion Fighting Sioux Sports Network. Please! Forget those Cable One weenies in Fargo!
  5. Channel 23 in GF? Is that "The Fighting Sioux Sports Network" channel up there? If so, is it possible that the rest of us with access to that will also be as blessed? You gotta have a dream!
  6. Which players made the trip down to "The John" and which stayed home?
  7. "The Fan Radio Network" must be desperate for guests. They had Fighting Sioux Basketball voice Mick Farkas (sp) on during the 6 pm hour last night. (Mick runs Clear Channel station KVOX-AM in Fargo so The Fan is sticking to CC/Fan Network voices.) They asked him (Mick) about Sioux/Gopher hockey. And you thought no one could know less about hockey than PA, Dubay, and Sid ....
  8. Do "sacks against" and "yards lost to sacks" count against the passing numbers? I know why the award is back and you know why I ask that question. PS - Why would a IAA powerhouse like NDSU bother to compare its QB to a QB at a DII?
  9. How Tim O'Keefe can succeed so well at his endeavours, considering the pain that Notre Dame moniker must give him, amazes me.
  10. Shot glasses. Sure, I understand the message there. Like I said, no school should be there. But they're worried about sweat pants? It would be interesting to find out if any of those 50, uh, excuse me, 51, petitioners ever had a pair of "protest blue jeans" back in the 1960s/1970s. You know the ones I'm talking about. They had a US flag stitched on the hind quarters (and goodness knows you daren't eliminate that form of free expression). It'd be really interesting to know. PS - I've never understand why anyone would want anything bulletin-boarded on their gluteus maximus region, but (pun intended) that's a whole other conversation.
  11. God help Notre Dame if they have their moniker or logo on a shot glass.
  12. What'd Coach Blais say earlier this season? Something like whoever plays with Parise will "get rich" when it comes to scoring. Hey, he's just sharing the wealth. This week's lottery winners: James Massen and Kevin Spiewak! And with any Blais line-up: Wait half a period; it'll change.
  13. Should any campus bookstore be selling shot glasses with the school logo?* The rest of it? Hey, go to the pro shop at REA. The licensing fee and the sales profits both go to UND that way. * I'll refrain from direct mention of a recent incident involving a student and shots at a rival school.
  14. If UND would have had a 20 point lead, or even just made two more free-throws, it would have been a non-issue. It's not the first bad call in history and won't be the last. Move on.
  15. Hoffa? Concrete? North end zone, Giants Stadium. Didn't you know? Why do you think the Pope held mass there a few years back? It was so that now it's considered sacred ground and Jimmy can rest in peace at a sacred place.
  16. Dump the name and logo and disrespect the wishes of 81% of the American Indian population in the process. (I won't quote the source. I've done it enough times.)
  17. A hat trick in the context used to today or a hat trick in the original context which is normally called a "natural hat trick" today? Originally, for a hat trick, you had to score three goals in succession. These days that's called a "natural" hat trick and just getting three goals in a game is called a hat trick. When it happens at a game with real fans, all the hats in the crowd end up on the ice as a salute to the player. The last one for UND at REA was Parise's against Niagara. Bochenski had one the night before.
  18. Matt Commodore, Mike's younger brother, was supposed to be a part of this year's freshman class. He blew a knee playing juniors about a year and half ago. Think about this: If his health would have been good, and with Smaby coming next year, and with Jones and Greene in, the UND defense wouldn't have taken anyone to the mat; the Matt would have come to them!
  19. Come on folks, I like to refer to that banner as "The Maytag Repair Guy Banner." It's lonely.
  20. Why would JBB hang around a DII board? I thought NDSU was now a DI powerhouse.
  21. SDSUFAN: Very interesting. Anything new on the "Grassy Knoll" or Jimmy Hoffa's location?
  22. JBB, I'm just sure UND will take your ideas "under advisement," but I'm pretty sure UND will follow PCM's recommended course of action before moving forward.
  23. JBB: Could it be that hockey is the priority at some of these schools in question and that their priorities differ from those at NDSU (whose priority is football)? Isn't that alone an acceptable answer to the situation? Most of the schools in question are in Minnesota and Minnesota tends to produce a significant number of DI hockey talent and has significant interest in hockey. It only makes sense for them to treat hockey as a priority. You don't have to like or agree with their priorities, you just need to acknowledge that there may be differing priorities.
  24. I shudder at the thought of Dickinson HS playing BHS.
