  1. Title IX is Federal law.
  2. Will the GWFC survive? With only five they aren't autobid eligible.
  3. Folks, the BSC picked UNC. Maybe more importantly, they also put out words like "looking west". If they went to expand again later, why wouldn't they go after the likes of Cal Poly SLO and UC-Davis? The Big Sky is already that far west.
  4. The most important development in the last week, I believe, remains the recent statements by the man considered the most influential man in college athletics, namely NCAA president Dr. Miles Brand. He says it might be time to restructure football within the NCAA framework. OK, let's devise that better structure.
  5. I agree. Let's control what we can control. UND can not control the decisions of a conference. UND can ensure that its facilities are top-notch, its fiscal house is in order, and that it provides an atmosphere that produces top quality and high performing student-athletes and citizens.
  6. From: http://www.grandforks.com/mld/grandforks/sports/10410943.htm Northern Colorado is the only institution it (the BSC) will consider. Did I just hear a door slam? Fargo Forum story: http://www.in-forum.com/articles/index.cfm...98&section=news
  7. Exactly. These folks can surely help Mr. Taylor understand the issue. From a practical point of view: - SUU has an academic reputation that the BSC presidents chose to not affiliate with - NDSU and SDSU (and UND) are each 800 miles from the closest BSC school - UNC is roughly within the present BSC geography - UNC gives a presence in the Denver media market - the BSC presidents said they wanted concensus on the decision There's one easy pick from all that: Northern Colorado. The others could start internal issues and problems (academics, travel) amongst the BSC presidents.
  8. You need to ask? Just look at him.
  9. Jon-Durno, Jon-Durno, let down your hair.
  10. Be careful of conspiracy theories. Signed, The Vast Fighting Sioux Conspiracy If you only knew ....
  11. You'll have to site a source. A quick search by me found nothing regarding the Big Sky and such monikers. And if it was a problem, would the BSC have sent a letter of interest?
  12. Semantics? No, legal process in North Dakota.
  13. And when is that time relative to when NDSU raises the $8 to 16 MM for BSA renovations (while continuing to request Cornerstone funds)?
  14. The ND SBoHE has statutory authority, meaning their power is derived by statute from the State of ND. http://www.state.nd.us/lr/cencode/t15c10.pdf However, their policies are just that, policies, not state law. State law is only made by the Legislative process and recorded in the ND Century Code. http://www.state.nd.us/lr/information/stat.../cent-code.html
  15. The details? Does this pro-VSU conspiracy ultimately involve getting VSU a title that they maybe should have gotten back in 2002?
  16. I assume someone has the NDSBoHE meeting minutes approving NDSU Downtown seeing how it is a new center and "Board approval is required to create, discontinue or name a school, college, center or institute."
  17. Apologies. I was sure I'd heard someone who should know (Alumni Association fundraiser) say those dollars being banked (not waivered as noted). star2city: Where's the money for facilities improvements?
  18. I've always found it curious that the Bison mascot's name is ThUNDar. (I love sticking that mental seed into NDSU heads.)
  19. First, eliminate competition. (But I thought competition is good.) Then, admit that you really wanted what they already had provided to the community (and already had the resources for). http://www.in-forum.com/articles/index.cfm...04&section=News
  20. I'll wait for the numbers without the "~".
  21. No Massen? No Fabian? Ouch. Welcome to a bare-bones line-up for skaters: 2 injured (out): Massen, Fabian. 12 forwards: McMahon, Canady, Fylling, Genoway, Prpich, Marvin, Stafford, Porter, Murray, Zajac, Spirko, Kaip. 8 defense: Schneider, Fuher, Jones, Greene, Smaby, Bina, Foyt, Radke. Massen's played too many games. He can't apply for a medical hardship year. However, Fabian still could (if he doesn't play any in the second 50% of the season.) Think it would help him adjust to the speed of the game if we slipped Radke into the line-up at forward one night (say in Marvin's place)? Lee Marvin's fast becoming like that NCAA commercial with the psychology major/basketball player: "Am I a defenseman who can play forward, or a forward who can play defense?"
  22. When womens hockey was brought on-line it was planned to add 3 scholarships per year to the maximum of 18. They are on course with that plan. And I believe they are taking that course because they are endowed scholarships. If NDSU has done this so well, why hasn't the media done an open records request of their books and shown the State what a good job they are doing? It'd be a great chance to shine and prove Dr. Kupchella's fiscal concerns misplaced. The last NDSU Athletics budget report in the media was that NDSU started the year fiscal year ~$1,000,000.00 in the red. Until a new report comes out that's all we know.
  23. Parise got stronger as the season went along last year. His stats from early January last season: GP Minutes Goals Saves Shots Pct.
