The point is this: - Even with Metrodome Minnesota isn't considered a perennial national power. - The powerful Big Ten Conference is an also-ran in DI college baseball (as evidenced by Minnesota winning the Big Ten and not getting a sniff of a National Championship). If UND were to go DI, playing baseball (unless mandated by conference affiliation) would be sure red ink and a sure (badly) losing record. Thus, why not look at sports that might better fit the UND demographic, may have better gate, and better chance for DI success: lacrosse.

What's the difference between "had been in talks" and "offered the job"? I know I'm word-smithing, but it never explicitly says Miles was offered the UNC-W job, just that he is staying at NDSU.

When I think "Bears quarterback" I think "number two."

National Championship? Maybe? New level as in division? Maybe? I ask it; other Sioux fans ask it; why can't Buning? Rich has us all hung out with this application at UNI. UND deserves better than this, don't you think? UND was out of budget under Roger Thomas. Buning has been in place less than a year. You can't turn around a battleship in a bathtub. This is the only thing that surprises me. Was Buning saying it or was he quoted? Are we sure someone got the quote right? Last I heard UND will be undertaking a total athletics facilities long-term plan this summer. It'll be a map for facilities for the next ten years (locations, types, etc.). I would think the old REA would play into that. In less than a year. Give LTC Buning a chance. Look at what he's been handed: - the moniker issue from the NCAA - DI committee - volleyball coach resigns - the current Glas situation Yet: - FB made the regional semis - WBB made the regional final - mens hockey made the Frozen Four All is not lost.

Interesting. All of it, very interesting. And confusing. So I'm going to follow my own rule: When situations are confusing, just stop, rise above, look around, and follow the money. What's going on will soon become clear. It'll be very interested to see how ND SBoHE school and overall budgets get reported in the coming days. Who looks good (balanced), who looks bad (red ink). What's going on will sort itself out then.

You're confused. It was Zach Parise we took to get the brother.
-
Now it's official. Zajac, Trupp, LaPoint sign with UND.
-
It's been brought up before and the southern schools shoot it down because their season would get too hot.
-
What attorney wouldn't want a shot at a part of the take of a possible anti-trust ruling against the NCAA? I mean the NCAA only has a six beeeee-llion dollar TV deal. Just off that notion alone I'm pretty sure UND has top-tier representation.

I'll grant you that unskilled manufacturing is moving to cheap countries, but an intellectual property based economy with associate higher-skill and technology manufacturing (e.g. bio-tech) is still possible here.
-
I show Walski as a "scratch" on a game day, meaning someone else dressed ahead of him, not that he left the team. And remember, that's my (admittedly wild) guess and speculation.
-
Parise - AHL, maybe Albany because I guess they're familiar with another family member Stafford - Buffalo's organization Spirko - somewhere in Europe is the common whisper
-
At risk of repeating myself, Do that and all of the other things mentioned will come because of the money in the local economy.

My predictions (* are freshmen) for some game in October or November: Duncan-Toews-Kozek Watkins-Oshie-Zajac* Genoway*-Kaip-Miller Porter-Fabian-VandeVelde* Chorney-Lee Jones-Finley Radke-Bina Lamoureux and TBD* First PK -- Watkins/Porter/Jones/Finley Second PK -- Kaip/Oshie/Chorney/Lee First PP -- Chorney/Lee/Duncan/Toews/Kozek Second PP -- Bina/Radke/Oshie/Porter/Watkins Scratches -- Alexander, Foyt, Martens, Walski, Marto*, magical-mystery walk-on forward or late signee* Yes, I have them only bringing in Zajac, Genoway, VandeVelde, Marto, a TBD goalie, and a walk-on/late signee. I see them letting LaPoint, Trupp, and Forney play the year in juniors. Maybe Trupp becomes the "magical-mystery" forward and plays, but I doubt it. And yes, I list no Parise, Stafford, or Spirko.

I'd put that under the same "yup." The NCAA plays field lacrosse, but just the same I've wondered what the big room with curved corners in the new UND Campus Wellness Center is for. (See room called "Multi Activity Court" in link.) The goals (ends) look almost more like indoor soccer.

I listen to ND radio stations for news (and sports, OK, 'sport', meaning hockey) and yet I'm bombarded with this "Wilf" bozo and his purple clowns. When I want to talk quality team in purple I'll talk Paul Pearl.
-
Yeahright. Nice try. The name "Wilf" appears 243 times in the (Red)StarTribune in the last three weeks. http://pd.startribune.com/sp?aff=3&keywords=Wilf "Favre" appears just 36 in the same timeframe in the Wisconsin State Journal. http://www.madison.com/archives/simple_sea...it=Begin+search

Dude, that's way too easy to mess with. It involves the words "Ziggy Wilf" and "stadium."
-
SIEVE! (I'm tellin' ya, someone has to make a little emoticon that does the "SIEVE!" arm motion. )
-
How soon they forget: UND came up an OT goal short of having this be a seven-year run of WCHA command.
-
Naw, he's probably more like the guy from "Chappelle's Show." http://images.google.com/images?q=tbn:OavB.../negrodamus.jpg
-
Yup. And nope. Yup to expose lacrosse. Nope because the Swarm play "box lacrosse" (indoor in a hockey rink) and the NCAA plays "field lacrosse" (on a football/soccer sized field). Overall the "yup" still wins in my mind however.

My signature line on USCHO: Kober skated with what I had the honor of watching. If Kober speaks of Oshie (and probably Toews too, if folks asked) in the same breath as the Hrkac could we have a true prophet, or unthinkably two, in our midst?
-
Uh-huh, uh-huh, but that ain't Fabian.

Chay Genoway Darcy Zajac Can-ya hook-a-bro-tha-up?
