C'mon Hammer, don't confuse a good rant from some quarters with facts.

I'm not sure what the theory of this offense is supposed to be is, but I do know a few key things: - you don't score by taking the puck to the corner; you score by taking it to the net - shooting for the edges only generates wide shots, and doesn't create rebounds - you miss 100% of the shots you don't take (paraphrasing Brandon Bochenski)

Yeah, like I said, I can't blame him, and a guy needs to be able to walk. Ask a particular O-line coach. What else this says is that there is opportunity for Brady, Armentrout, and Dungy behind Chappell.

Referees not just calling infractions but deciding the outcome by their calls? Sayitaintso. Signed, The Shepherds

There's wanting to do it. There's the capability to do it. Wishing doesn't create the capability.

What's with the "shadow" treatment?

People love numbers, size, speed, whatever. But if you went strictly 'by the numbers' UND's top hockey goal scorer this year doesn't belong on a DI rink (5'6", <160). You can make up for 'numbers' by knowing how to play. I'll keep Dunc and stay happy with Catlin at UND.

We all saw Brandon go down with a late season knee injury. (Not sure if it was the same or the other knee this time.) What's his plan for fall? Is he planning one more go or is he going to call it a career*? * I couldn't blame him if that's his choice. One rehab back to game shape is hard enough.

I've seen Solum play both live and on TV. What jumps out at me consistently is the demeanor in which he carries himself. Sure, he's not horse big, or blindingly fast, but he carries himself like a winner. Guys like that are always ones you want and they make people around them better.

New NDUS Chancellor Named-former NDSU Professor
The Sicatoka replied to IowaBison's topic in Community
At least they're consistent: While the ND AP sports writers considered UND's moniker fight with the NCAA the most important story in 2006 in ND sports, the Forum give that distinction to (su-prise, su-prise ) NDSU Athletics during the past year. -

I can name five other area folks, off the top of my head, more deserving based on events of the past year: - the Carlson twins - Drew Wrigley (federal prosecutor) - Dean Ross (chief of police in Valley City) - A. Rodriguez Jr. (you don't always have to be a nice guy to win Person of the Year) -
NDSU FB Coach in the running for UM Job?
The Sicatoka replied to BobIwabuchiFan's topic in NCAA News
Anyone who thinks Bohl is not on their list to look at is delusional. Anyone who thinks Bohl is a top three on their list is delusional as well. -
No, it's Nucleus of Capricious and Arbitrary Actions

"Would UND drop football to offset DI costs?" There's as much chance of that as Michael Richards hosting a night at the Apollo Theatre, or Mel Gibson winning Man of the Year from the LA area B'nai Brith.

Let me ask a previous question again: If you capitulate here, what comes next? Seriously: What. Comes. Next. How 'bout something like, "We won't play you in REA because of who it's named after"? Sound outlandish? Where are we at now? It's not a great leap. Don't kid yourselves; a big part of this remains because of the people who want to punish him even after he's been "on the other side of the grass" nearly half a decade. (Thanks, and RIP, Mr. E.)

To me, right now, the best way out of this is to force everyone's hands. How? Easy. If it were up to me, I'd have CEK walk to the podeum tomorrow and say: "Unless other resolution can be made prior, effective February 15, 2007 the UND Athletic teams will be known as 'The Cavalry'." This puts us in compliance with NCAA policy regarding mascots based on race, ethnicity, or national origin. We choose the name 'Cavalry' because they killed more ... bison ... than any group in history. "Please also note, effective same date, UND will, in the spirit of helping meet the wishes and desires of Ms. Vermillion, head of Sitting Bull College, cease all cooperative activities, of any sort, with Sitting Bull College. "Finally, also effective same date, UND will refocus its outreach efforts exclusively to America's veterans, the true cavalry, and rural health and economic development. In closing, we are not dropping our lawsuit 'UND v. NCAA' because we continue to believe that they did breech a contract and did do us harm under the Sherman Anti-trust Act, or at least the corresponding state statutes. That is all. Thank you." Imagine the reactions that would garner. Oh the hypocrisy that would expose. It would be great theatre. Never vote me in as "King for a Day."

The way they looked this year in football let's get Florida State on the schedule.

Folks, be fair to the Minnesota Lemmiwinks. This committee set this policy based on what's most important to them, namely, their principles. Which principle? They won't play teams with American Indian related monikers unless it brings them big conference game dollars. See which principle matters most.
-
OK, let's talk. Who's paying for the costs of a change. Also, what'll be the next "social cause de jour" the NCAA plans to take on so we can figure out if it affects UND and how much cash we'll have to 'capitulate out' on that one?

You don't like something you see so you start a fight over it? Educated young men indeed.

There may not be millions of deaths in this case; it's just free expression (dare I say Amendment One) being chipped away at ever more. Eh, no biggie, right?
