You have to pay the bills. An empty arena won't do it. Is that nice enough?

If the goal is to have UND womens hockey attendance exceed UND mens hockey attendance, this is surely the plan. If the goal is to play in the same conference as NDSU the day NDSU adds hockey, this is surely the plan. Otherwise, let's just say it leaves open opportunity for skepticism and harsh critique.

There is regional precedent regarding Montana Tech.

Guess who's looking at IA Football: Jacksonville St
The Sicatoka replied to star2city's topic in NCAA News
By which measure? Endowment? Harvard, a DI (an FCS school). Enrollment? NYU, sure, a DIII. But Stanford is smaller than UND or NDSU. Should they go DIII also? How about Duke? I thought according to some DI is all about the prestige and glory of the higher level of DI athletics. If privately funded DU wants to spend private dollars on athletics to chase that prestige and glory, in a word, so? -

So if being a contender for a national title is the criteria, be careful, some may apply it to your favorite school. Why should DU jump through these hoops? http://www.uscho.com/news/college-hockey/i...yUpSchools.html Being DI is the easy answer for DU. Let's cut to the chase here: Why the sudden fetish for DU Athletics? Is it that the Sun Belt is looking to cast them off? Is it that they get "face time" on FSN - Rocky Mountain? Is it that as a non-FB school they'd be a nice add to a conference (Denver market) to make an even number of BB but odd number of FB programs in a western conference (like the Big Sky)? I never thought I'd be here justifying DU as a DI (especially after this weekend) but why the sudden "expertise" in DU Athletics and where they should be going? -
Careful, I think I might know her and her parents ....

It's called the "Peltier rule". You can take a full-fledged punch at anyone in a Sioux jersey, and more than one if he's smaller than you, without penalty. McLeod and Shepherd can justify ... uh, I mean explain it.

Is all of that stretching during stoppages his normal routine? He almost seemed slow or "off". I got the feeling watching him that he was battling a cold or flu. He didn't seem "right".

I just want to see how deep this "experise" runs. Consider it the eggs for the omelet. -
It takes two to make a deal. What was really going on in the heads of Okposo, Trotter, and now Reaney. Team issues? School issues? Money issues?

If he sees the same number of shots that JPL saw in the first v. DU on Saturday, just fine.

Depends: He could still take this year as a medical redshirt (he's played in fewer than 20% of scheduled games and none in the second half of the released schedule). What are the team plans for Michael Forney? I'd guess we'll see Davidson and Miller.

(I know I'm going to regret this ....) So what is Dayton doing that you could "improve"? -
We're small. We need to get bigger players. (That's my guess at least.)

I think he's afraid the star2city notion of DU and UND to the Big Sky could happen. -

DU is about hockey, skiing, and lacrosse (they dropped 100 years of baseball for it and have made a significant investment in it). You can only play up in one DI sport if there is a DII or DIII championship in the sport. Skiing and its combined championship would be fine, but playing up in DI hockey would preclude DI lacrosse as there is a DIII lax tournament. Denver's going nowhere toward DIII, no matter your beliefs or "expertise" in such matters. -

But DU could not, as the exemption only applies to teams that were DIIIs when it was created. My better question: Why so worried about DU? -

Why would Bison fans want DU to not stay DI? Because the Denver market is very valuable for ratings, recruits, and scholarships, and the Big Sky knows it. PS - Denver at UND hockey was on FSN-Rocky Mountain last night. TV market. -

Dig around USCHO.com and you'll find an old article about the DIIIs of today being grandfathered into an allowance to give DI hockey scholarships. (Your memory is pretty close Hammersmith.) -

Look up "NCAA Skiing Championships" and then feel silly for asking. -
My thoughts also. To me the "SWA" is more a "label" identifying the senior ranking female in the organization more than a "position" within the department.

UND has a new advertising/recruitment campaign running: http://www.go.und.edu/better/ Where have you seen billboards for it? I've seen a billboard: - westbound on 12th Avenue North, just before the train tracks overpass, in Fargo, ND - southbound on University Drive at about 6th Avenue North, in Fargo, ND Interesting locations I must say ....

Yes and no. Yes, because he's in a better titled job at NMSU. No, if he's looking to get back to "hands on day to day" operations. I guess I'd need some background on why he was moved upstairs. But he'd have nice connections to western FCS (DI-A) conferences, as would Burke. Question: If Burke was AD, would a "senior womens administrator" titled position be required by the NCAA?

You're lookin' to get a rise out of someone with that, ain't ya.
