Since this sections purpose is to "Talk about the 7-time NCAA Champion UND men's ice hockey team" wouldn't the community section be a more appropriate location for this one? He may not be a former Sioux great, even though he's a former Gopher great, still is a Grand Forks native. We haven't seen to many GF boys make it to the big show, so congrats to Ryan and good luck bro. Side note, he assisted on Philadelphia's third goal tonight. An even-strength goal scored by Joni Pitkanen at 13:39 of the second period with the other assist going to Sami Kapanen. I'm happy the kid is getting the opportunity with the Flyers and not being mired down in the lowly AHL, he deserves a shot in the big leagues baby!! First point in the NHL with many more points to come in the future. This is a bright star in the making, who cares if he used to play for the Gophers, he's in the National Hockey League; the best pro sport out there. That's impressive if I dare say so. He's from North Dakota, you just have to cheer for him now. They mentioned earlier on OLN that Potulny is the 14th rookie the Flyers have played this season. Nice to see they give the young guns a shot. The Flyers are not giving the "young guns" a shot out of pure generosity. They are playing rookies because of injuries which have been nagging them since training camp. When healthy they are the deepest team in the league at center position. When you lose players such as Primeau, Forsberg and Nedved you have little choice but to insert a rookie into the lineup. On the blueline, Desjardins, Johnsson and Therien have also missed a ton of games forcing them to play AHL d-men from time to time. I would much rather see Potulny on the wing with a center who can get him the puck. Placing him between Brashear and Savage is a waste but it'll only be for a few games.
