AZSIOUX
Finley is only going to get better and better. He looks like fricken Paul Bunyan out on the ice! http://www.hockeysfuture.com/article.php?sid=8517 9. DAR
He is another player that has really improved as the year has gone on. With that reach with his stick it is hard for forwards to get around him. I would still like him to play more physical but that will come in time and I have seen more physical play from him as the year has progressed. Like so many players on this roster he is only going to get better and better. I think it is becoming more and more clear that this is probably one of the best if not the best recruiting call the Sioux have ever had in their history and a National Championship would put a big rubber stamp on what has been a very enjoyable season. NFL...NBA...MLB...NHL.....no thanks, give me Sioux hockey. Can't wait to get to Milwaukee, got my tickets yesterday. Bought them from a Gopher fan here in Mpls. Gotta love it!!!! redwing77
Best part about Big Joe is that, he's only getting better. He started out slow and had a ton of problems with the smaller, faster forwards he came across. He played tentative physically. As the season progressed, he slowly but surely improved and improved and improved. Oh, by no means do I think he's a Smaby-esque player right now. But I'll tell you what, I'd be very surprised if he wasn't by the midway point of next season. This guy has MAMMOTH potential defensively. I mean, he's pretty solid positionally and he's willing to block shots. Can you imagine how much ice he can cover in an effort to block a shot? Hopefully we will see a lot of improvement from him next year. He had a lousy game against BC, other than that I thought he had improved fairly well through the course of the year. He needs to learn to pick up the physical part of his game next year.

HockeyMom
hope i made all u guys who are annoyed by my pics happy. It's like that episode of Kids in the Hall where that guy is in a fight and he's getting his but kicked and all of the bystanders are saying, "We strongly suggest that you stay down." and the guy keeps getting up and trying to fight some more. Dude, stay down. The pics don't annoy people like us with high speed connections, but with dial-up in can take days for those pictures to load. Finley is a big guy. it is kinda funny to see him walking around on campus and to remember that, he is only a freshman. im kinda curious about other peoples view on how well his skill can increase in the future years he is in the Sioux program. with the way his skill has progressed this season alone, does anyone think he iwll be at the caliber of smaby, or even matt greene by the time he leaves here? HockeyMom
Finley is a big guy. My son was the Sioux Kids' Club Captian of the Game early in the year and when he stood on the ice during the Star Spangled Banner, I looked out of the Sioux box onto the ice and saw this tiny kid and then huge Joe Finley. siouxnami
All things considered, I think Joe had one of the best rookie seasons for a defensman that I have seen for a while.
redwing77
All things considered, I think Joe had one of the best rookie seasons for a defensman that I have seen for a while. I think that could be said of a few of our defensemen and that's the problem that Finley has had. I mean, when you look at how well Jones, Chorney, and Lee did this year, Finley kindof gets drowned out (which isn't easy considering his size). The real test for Jones will be next season, playing without Smaby.
