Obviously the focus needs to stay on this season, but I always like looking ahead even though the portal makes it tough. I really think UND could have a legit core going forward. We know Eli, Reggie and Anderson are gone. Everyone else technically can return.

I would be pretty surprised if the twins come back at this point. If they head out, Smith feels like a 50/50 call but hopefully his connection with Moore keeps him here.

You then add Jayden Moore, Carter Evanson and Sage Hanson which is two guards and a forward. With the assumption the twins are the only portal exits, that leaves two scholarships open.

The dream would be convincing BJ to return and landing a true big. That group starts looking pretty strong.

Guards have Greyson, AS3, Moore, Evanson and Kraft. Wings would be Wylee and a transfer. Bigs would be Guga, Jones, Hanson and a transfer. Depending on who comes in, that is a really intriguing roster with a lot of pieces.

Just some late night roster thoughts but I like where things could land. Also, this is assuming Sather is back.

I see this as a possibility. Let's say this happens and the 3 graduate. The twins leave, but A3 stays, and you have a couple scholarships for the coach to play with (hoping he can get what is needed). Would you take this scenario with a 4 year extension of Sather? Or would you prefer Sather was relieved of his position and let the chips fall where they may for a rebuild?

I'm not sure which way I land based on history, but im curious as to what others think and why.

I would be fine with bringing Sather back if it means Uelmen, Smith and Guga come back. I am assuming the ND kids stay/come in regardless. But I don't see why UND would offer a multi-year extension to a coach with (probably) a sub-.400 record after seven years. It's not necessary, and it's probably unprecedented at the division I level. Offer him a one-year extension. If working on essentially a one-year deal were a dealbreaker for Sather, he'd have left on his own after last season. He has a lot left to prove before a multi-year deal is even a consideration IMO.

I guess I don’t think a coach should necessarily be extended because of the potential future roster especially with the turnover we see every year now with the portal.

If you extend him, and A3, Uelman, and Guga aren’t back then there is no point. It’s going to be really interesting to see how this plays out.

I feel like quietly Greyson has a chance to break the freshman season scoring record. He needs 161 points with 11 guaranteed games left. That’s 14.6 ppg. If he gets to play a 2nd SLT game that’s 13.4 ppg which is under his current average of 13.6 ppg

Wow that is crazy. He gets to the line a lot where sometimes he score a quiet 16+. Needs to clean up the TOs but his game yesterday was a real nice game.
