Goon
UND makes the paper only when something big happens, like the nickname or something negative or we win a national championship. Case in point: UND's win in hockey last night was about a short paragraph in length. Pheasant hunting in South Dakota takes up a column on the front page. I could give a **** about SD pheasant hunting. North Dakota comes first, then everywhere else when it comes to sports. But, then again, local news is more important than what is happening in the world so, I shouldn't be surprised. The Fargo Forum: Doing their best to hold Fargo Metro area residents behind the times since as long as I can remember. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why would they focus on Pheasant hunting in SD when pheasant hunting is as good or if not better in ND. IowaBison
Not to be overly snide, but the Fargo Forum broke the story on UND beginning its formal study of a move to division I. I know this is a local story , but I thought you guys might find it interesting.

Since you're repeating the story across threads to take a swipe, I'll repeat myself from another thread and swipe back. I don't see anything being "broke" here. The committee was specifically called for in strategic plan 2 and has been discussed by Buning numerous times in the past. If the Forum's just getting around to covering those events, that's a good demonstration of how little they follow UND.

The Forum was too busy covering what Kupchella didn't say in his state of the university address to pay attention to what he did say. The reason I posted it here, in the Fargo Forum thread was due to previous posts that stated that the Forum spent too much of their front page covering local issues. The UND decision to initiate a(nother) formal committee to study a possible conference switch seems like important news to me. The fact that the Forum printed the story on the front page (heaven forbid!) and the Herald had to pull it from the AP seemed to merit a comment. (The snideness was in response to many posters' criticisms of the Forum, not UND's recent actions)

And also, I stated that the only time UND does make the front page is when something big happens like the nickname thing or if we won a national championship in hockey or football and maybe basketball. DI is another issue that merits that attention because, if UND goes DIAA, it would rekindle the NDSU-UND rivalry.
