Something to do on Friday between games:

The Hobey Baker Award Ceremony takes place on Friday, the day before the national championship game. It will take place at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, home of the Columbus Blue Jackets. The ceremony begins at 2:30 p.m. ET, and is preceeded by the USCHO Town Hall Meeting (1 p.m.). A reception, held immediately following the Award Ceremony, gives fans a chance to celebrate along with the winner.

Cost: Free and open to the public

YaneA -- I'm assuming the "signs" message will pop up soon!

You may want to watch out, they were confiscating/kicking out fans of ALL schools (yes, including MN fans) at Mecca for signs/banners/noisemakers this last weekend, due to some NCAA rule... :)

Here are the vagaries of this NCAA Rule, straight out of the "Championship Fan Guide" for the 2005 Frozen Four . . . . .

----------------------------

". . . . Guests are reminded that the following items are always prohibited: food, alcoholic beverages, bottles, cans or containers, irritants (e.g. artificial noisemakers, Gopher jerseys), videocameras, monopods/tripods, and strobe lights. Promotional items (e.g. shakers, cups, flags, etc. with commercial slogans or identification are also prohibited. The Schottenstein Center does not offer item checks so prohibited items will have to be returned to the guest's vehicle.

Noncommercial signs, flags, or banners that, in the opinion of the NCAA, reflect good sportsmanship, are able to be held by one individual and do not block the view of other ticket guests, are permitted. No signs, flags, or banners of any size may be affixed to the facility.

---------------------------

Amazing stuff. Will the security guys at the turnstiles be deemed NCAA officials?

Nice work.

And yes, the rulebook also says artificial noisemakers are not permitted.

We should tell all those annoying fans who bring cowbells.

HUH, that's odd, my bud was threatened 4 times about being kicked out for having a flag (he had it in his sweatshirt pocket and wasn't even waving it!), and they were booting peeps w/ posters.....I will have to get a nice print out of that for the security detail at the arena. That and we'll have to send a copy to the Mecca security so the old folks have something to do besides ruin the fun and dream about when they had real teeth!
