Even the trip home could not help to solve UND woes as Idaho got the rare road victory against UND.  Now they will hit the road trying to end a 3 game losing streak, as they take on UT-Rio Grande Valley (formerly known at UT-Pan American from the old Great West Days)

Long time assistant coach Lew Hill is in his 3rd year has head coach at UTRGV, who has gone 31-44 in his time there.  He is looking to trend the Vaqueros in the right direction and climb the standings here in the WAC.  With a collection of forwards in Winn III and Varner II, who have been solid, the Varqueros want to do better than their 5th place projected finish in the WAC and finish better than 15-18.

Key Players: Lesley Varner II (6'7 Forward) and Terry Winn III (6'7 Forward)

These 2 forwards are the two leading scorers and rebounders for the Varqueros.  Varner II is coming off his best performance, a 22 point game against UT-Arlington, and has had a major blossoming in his Junior season.  He can shoot it a little from outside, so this is to be watched.  Winn III roared out to a hot start this season but has since cooled off from his 5 straight double-digit scoring games.  Won't really step out to shoot it.  Both shoot around 65-70% from the line and can grab about 5-6 rebounds.

Key questions:

1)  Can UND get the necessary shooting?

2) How will this young team respond to this losing streak?

3) Who will be the better rebounders:  Avants/Rebraca or Winn/Varner?

The call:

This team is stuck in a rut and needs to find any way possible to break it.  I have a hunch tonight that this team will put a performance together.  They will have an improved shooting and defensive performance tonight and I think they will do just enough to get a road win

Limit turnovers, rebound, and of course make some shots (FTs included)!

Looking for a breakout game from behind the arc for Moody and a bounce-back game from Seales.  Hopefully Avants and Rebraca can keep the forwards highlighted by SWSioux in check and off the boards.

UND 11

UND still has more turnovers (14) than points (11).  A lot of those came from a not too pretty press breaker that included very lazy cross court passes..... ugh!
