redwing77 Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 As mentioned in the other thread, the Oilers also got Spacek from the Blackhawks. It is going to cost Greene playing time. You can hear Kevin Lowe (Oilers Coach) talk about the trades at the Oilers homepage. Lowe mentions Matt Greene (calls him 'Matt') and says that he'll lose ice time but he's young. The longer term news is that both Spacek and Tarnstrom are free agents at the end of the season. Quote
Ruffian Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Saw Parise live for the second time this season last night at the Lightning game. I was more impressed with him than earlier in the season. Watching him on tv doesn't show his good positioning away from the puck. He seems to have more confidence to go along with his noticable speed. Quote

He's making plays on a nightly basis now, which is different from the beginning of the season. He may not be showing up on the points sheet consistently yet, but he's making waves attempting to do so. His comfort level has shot up quite a bit since when Robinson was there. I think a lot of it had to do with the Devils getting rid of Mogilny, and Lameroux placing Zach on the 2nd line permanently. He was being shifted around every game or so. Now he's had the opportunity to play with the same guys for the past 15 games, and chemistry is beginning to develop. I personally don't want the Devils to hire a head coach right now, because he may screw it up again, after Zach has shown what he can do when given the chance. Quote

When did Phil moonlight as an NHL head coach? Me thinks you mean Lamoriello. Quote

I follow two teams...the Sioux and the Devils. It sucks that they both have Lam's! And to be honest, I didn't even notice it (obviously) until you pointed it out! Quote

Siouxdonyms Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Curtis Murphy will participate in the AHL All-Star Skills Competition tonight, in the hardest shot competition. Murph is the only former Sioux playing, but there are a lot of other former college players in the competition as well (e.g. John Pohl, Junior Lessard, Al Montoya, Yann Davis, etc.). Should be entertaining and better than the State of the Union Address. Quote

Siouxdonyms Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Zach Parise scores 1:52 into the Devils/Senators game tonight on a nice pass from Sergei Brylin. Zach's 7th goal of the season. It was also stated that Zach will be going to North Dakota during the olympic break to practice with the Sioux and watch Jordan play. Maybe he'll fire up the team! "Most players going to the Bahamas or somewhere warm, I'm going to North Dakota!" Quote
Siouxdonyms Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Parise gets an assist to go along with his goal in tonight's Devils/Senators game. I believe this is Zach's first multi-point game in a Devil's uniform. Quote

Lessard has scored a couple of goals and looks good. Quote

Yes, where was the "D" in the game last night. When I saw the Canadian team go on a 2-0 rush, i could only think that the D had given up. Quote

Siouxdonyms Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Zach Parise and Mike Commodore are facing off against one another tonight (Devils/Hurricanes). So far, they haven't been on the ice at the same time, but we'll see if Mike clocks Zach at all. Maybe Hale and Commodore will get into it! Quote
Siouxdonyms Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Zach Parise scores his 8th goal tonight against the Hurricanes. Grant Marshall made the entire play, but Zach ended up scoring a rebound goal. Parise's warming up! Quote
