Had Spicer come in next year, he'd be the youngest forward since Toews to play for UND. Spicer isn't Toews. He's not ready.
Okay, but a forward coming in at 18 years old has happened quite a few times over the years. It's really not that rare.

The problem with this premise is that we didn't miss. We just wanted the kid, who would be the first 18 year old forward to come into UND since Jonny Toews, to play one more year in junior. Spicer made his decision.
I think he's gonna be a solid college player, but he got passed up by other recruits that basically every other poster on here adore. UND felt he wasn't ready. We'll see if he is, unfortunately.
What do you mean by this?

How about we take a page from Denver / Michigan and have a Top 9 and a Bottom 3.
Oddly this last year we had a top 1 and a bottom 11.

Oh, well that's a different thing than you said. Sorry. I don't disagree with that. I don't think he's better than 75% of our current forwards. Not even close, IMO.
He's going to be drafted this summer but he's not even close to being good enough to play here next year? We have four forwards returning who had 20 points or more. Four of them.

Right now?? Or like, in two years? I'm sorry, but if it's right now, not a chance.
If the only way to have him in two years is taking him now, then yes, you take him now.

C'mon, can we do this without belittling Hain and Sendo's roles? Both of those two are very important to the program and this year's team, IMO.
This year feels like an "all-in" year. I never thought Spicer was coming this year. Did any of you?
It really, really sucks he's leaving, but other than maybe Strinden, who likely isn't on scholly and changes the equation a bit, would any of you pick Spicer over Blake, McLaughlin or James?
I would take Spicer over 75% of our current forwards.

Just to keep dead wood in the program. Yikes.

If the Twins can tap into the potential that Paddack has then this is a fantastic trade for them. Losing Rogers hurts but he's in the final year of his contract, he's almost guaranteed heading to free agency to get paid, and he's coming off a pretty significant injury. Paddack has three more years of team control. Bring him in, get him back to his rookie year ability, and you have a legitimate starter for quite a while.

Someone said there should be 2 5's
Nah. Umass player gave him a crosscheck on the faceoff but not even close to a 5. Stapley will probably not be playing in the next game if they hold on and win.

Bad play by Stapley. Easy call on the replay.
He's a senior. Maybe the dumbest decision I've ever seen a player make

Was it Rizzo?
Stapley

DU player just gave a bad butt end. Should be 5 and gone.

Any reason you asked me who I cheer for? Or are we at the part of the night where unless you think a certain way, then you're not a "real fan"?

What team do you cheer for?
Just wondering.
UND. Why?

Watching the absolute meltdown this forum would become if Duluth wins another one would be pretty funny.

There were some really obnoxious Notre Dame fans at the game and especially afterwards.
Thank the lord there are no obnoxious UND fans. Hopefully any elderly Notre Dame fans made it out of the building without getting thrown down any stairs.

Oddly enough, I was told this team didn't have many red flags and as long as Albrecht was in the lineup, everything would be fine.

A check from behind is a check delivered on a player who is not aware of the impending hit, therefore unable to protect or defend himself, and contact is made on the back part of the body. When a player intentionally turns his body to create contact with his back, no penalty shall be assessed.
no grey area at all you turn no penalty.
That is the NHL rule. NCAA puts 100% of the onus on the player delivering the hit, and that's not going away anytime soon.

I guess we have to agree to disagree.
Slew foot has to come from behind, so no it's not a slew foot. Nothing to agree or disagree with.

Two plays where they stuck their legs out could have taken a knee but other than that attempted slew foot on Driscoll was the only other dirty play tonight.
Wasn't a slew foot on Driscoll.
2 minutes ago, siouxnatty#8 said:I guess I disagree. Everyone including me was saying the sky was falling when we went on our skid. We lost 3-2 and should have capitalized on a couple golden chances and we go to ot playing with a severely depleted team. I see positives not negatives. You are wrong about Albrecht not being a big loss as that 4th line with him seperating people from the puck had them being difference makers when the 3 are intact.
If Hain is healthy, then one of those three is a healthy scratch, so they're not as impressive as you're making them sound.

I don't see many red flags. By rights Ford scores if he handled the puck and elevates it and we go to ot. I think for as short handed as we were it makes more optimistic than anything. We did not get blown out and were getting most of our injured players back for the NCAA's. Not having Albrecht was huge. That 4th line was scoring almost a goal a game lately. The sky is not falling so call off chicken little.
Not having Albrecht isn't as big of a deal as you're making it. There are massive red flags surrounding this team regarding special teams.

I've been saying Denver peaked too for a while also. This outcome is not all bad. Our 4th line was out of synch without Albrecht and his absence was very noticaable when they were out there.
There were a lot more red flags tonight than just the 4th line being out of sync

I'd say we weren't creating anything period.
Whether that be 5x5, PK, or PP.
I don't think it was going to change anything if we did or didn't pull the goalie at the end.
Have to take the chance and pull him when you're down one, so no issue with that. You could just feel that it wasn't gonna work though.
I'm glad we agree.

Both of our goals were 5x5 tonight.
Right, in the first eight minutes of the game when we were actually moving our feet, and then a simple wrist shot that Bussi saves 99 out of 100 times. We weren't creating anything even strength.
Twins ?

Putting him in in that save opportunity right there tells me this is the plan. Dude's stuff is electric.
