We like to have 15 D line ready to rotate in per game!! I am exaggerating but I've been on this kick before.........we have a 3 man front while on the other side of the ball, 5 O lineman. Current roster has 15 O line and 12 D line. If you have 100 players that is 15% and 12% of total roster, respectively. Now on the field, 22 starters leaving out the kicker, punter, and long snapper. Let's assume 22 starting positions for argument sake. 5 O line / 22 starting positions = 22.7% (O line is 22.7% of starters but only 15% of roster) 3 D line / 22 starting positions = 13.6% (D line is 13.6% of starters, and 12% of roster which is pretty close. We are light on O-line numbers and current D-line numbers look to be about right. We have been too high on D-line in the past. High at Linebackers 23 on the roster for 4 starting positions (although these are your main special teams guys) 23 % of roster for 18% of starting spots Maybe a little high at Tight End, 8 on the roster for 1-2 starting positions 8% of roster while 1 starting spot is 4.5%/2 starting spots is 9% The numbers support what we've been feeling......need more HOGS.

Blair is an anomaly. (just doesn't put on the pounds) An OL prospect at 250 lbs today can easily project to 265 - 270 entering college and 280 - 285 after 1 year in college. I think 285 is kind of the minimum for a player to be an effective pass blocker. Blair is fine/good at run blocking, but in a pass block set 260 is too light and players at this weight get lifted and off balance too easy against a pass rush.

Correct. And if an FBS school offers, especially Purdue.......you are pre-season freshman All-American (mop in hand at NDSU, poised for the NFL apparently) Give our coaches credit for offering players based on what they think, regardless of the group think. From the current commits, a few of these guys will have huge Sr. years and that's when a staff earns their rather small paychecks. (seeing commits thru to signing day)
-
Only good if you like 50 yard passes across the body. I'll wait to hear of any other offers before I judge if he is any good!!

Impressive, such high morality and political correctness, can never question anyone or anything, especially Bison Dan. Bison Dan hyped a local player that has averaged around .2 receptions per game. (lives 25 miles from Fargo, how did they land him!!) Big local news story 3 years ago!! Could be a break-out year for the kid in 2018. Stay tuned!!
-
Another OL commit from Luke on Twitter - and boy do we need to hit on some OL. Probably can't block near as good as Jimmy K 2.0 (Ben Elefson) But if we get ahead 40 points (big If) we could throw him an OL eligible meaningless touch down pass, never know.

3 TDS as follows: TD vrs Sam H. St. made it 48-6 TD vrs Miss V St. made it 58-7 TD vrs Indiana St. made it 45-0 Get the mop out!! He is a local kid, from my dad's home town. I hope he has a break out season!! But thus far......pretty sparse production. Just jabbing a little. And sorry for getting off topic. My 2019 sources say the Riviere kid is the cream at TE. And the next target for UND is better than the Riviere kid. Probably not a secret as several MVFC are high on him.
-
I think we have all called out our TEs and lack of production many times over.
-
Where is the 'laugh' opton!!
-
"Thee" Ben Elefson that is, with 6 career receptions in mop up time. (freshman and Sophomore) Does he break out his Jr. and Sr. year?? If not what a flop considering the hype.

Being top dog only works when you are the top dog. A mediocre dog is a lonely dog at the next level.

That was a piss pour defensive game. 1st play of the game I think, we call a 3 deep coverage and our players can't cover a deep post....total horsecrap. And all season, we never seem to double the stud on the other team that we all know is getting the ball when it counts. But more often, with the ebb and flow of games, I recall our offense being pretty poor until it didn't really matter in the game, then stats were padded later in the game.
-
You have to stay eligible to be a star......shocking I know!!
-
So full blogs and reporting = 1st round bye in play-offs No blogs and reporting = destructive 3 W season Why is this even debatable!!
-
Not sure if just a visit or signed. I thought signed. Not sure why it is a secret at this point, unless RP cashed it in a few days early over the week of the 4th.

Might want to suite up the band for this game -
-
1. Everett Williams/Tyron Verde - Whomever steps up at inside gives us some run stopping pride back. 2. Lenny Nelson - Big and strong, not sure if corner or safety yet, but will add to what was an injured, then young and porous secondary last year. 3. Garrett Maag - Huge and athletic, runs better that our other 'bigs' at WR. Seems to 'live' for football type of guy. 4. Donny Ventrelli - 6'4" 250 lb DE/TE in High School, projected as a guard. If he can redshirt and put the size on, this guy could be all-conference and more. He's off the edge like a wild man, then split out at WR, most athletic guard I've seen. 5. CB CJ Siegel - Quick as lightning. We'll see how fast he is, and how well he can tackle are my concerns. I thinks he's a year out, but could be really good.
-
This game is a joke, should be 21-0 after our 1st three offensive drives. If it isn't, our season is in trouble.
-
I like hearing, better than how thrilled a kid is about academics, is being fully committed and junk yard dog crazy about competing and winning football games!! Hopefully these are the type of players we are getting.
-
Well, we can offer earlier playing time compared to SDSU and NDSU right now. The SU's are coming off a semi and another natty. Heads up against these 2 programs is going to be tough this year!! We need a lot of wins and some innovation on offense. The Jacks send a TE and WR to the NFL, know how to adjust to their talent, that is attractive. NDSU does every thing well, even though they are a little boring offensively, they get it done. If I were a receiver type, I would pick the Jacks over UND and NDSU. I don't know what to tell you.....I am a big UND guy!!
-
All those 'Eastern Michigan' type teams are a total joke. Have fun playing in the Toilet Bowl some day. Smart move to go to SU.
-
Bubba has his methods. If you look close that is not an arm on the shoulder. That is "The Claw" Baron Von Raschtke style, paralyzing commits so they can't go to other camps!!
-
Exactly. The only direction I have heard is UND tells these kids pick a reasonable amount of camps, but don't burn yourself out at every single one. When teams get near full, all teams, they have to at some point tell recruits to sh_t or get off the pot, I don't doubt that all teams occasionally have that talk near the end of the class or closer to signing date(s).
-
UND Hockey only....ba bye!! I had a UND Hockey only fan join us at tailgating last year. He had so much fun his wife called me a week back to get him season FB tickets!! We were undefeated in tailgating last season!!
-
Who cares?? The mom needed the kid to flip her.....what?? No one should be surprised at how shallow and superficial some are. On the flip side, a long time banker/insurance guy I know, from up north by Hoople, graduated from NDSU but now has season tickets at UND because of the "pompous a--holes" that fill the Fargo dome. (his words, not mine) But I suppose that story doesn't write as well. When Fargo N. elementary sends classes to NDSU to run around on the field with some football players my girls insist on full head-to-toe UND. They say the players are really nice to them and joke about it, not a big deal. That impresses me more than some 'fan flipper' that probably never went to a UND football game anyway.
