  1. Sorry if mine sounded snippy, didn't mean to. I did look and it looks like BYU and NAU are the two big schools on there, and NAU is a private channel. If UND decided to do this, i'm pretty sure it would have to be through Neulion, but it would be nice. Currently, yes, since their video player uses flash, but Jayson said that Neulion was in the testing stages of making their video player into HTML 5, so if/when they switch to that, i'm pretty sure you would be able to use that on your PS3 browser. I'm not 100% sure that PS3 supports HTML5, though.
  2. Go do some research on the subject. Come back and tell us how many other schools have Roku apps...
  3. Have you guys looked at Max Media's broadcasts? Go to the Video on Demand section on watchbigsky.com, and go look up one of their games...they looked WDAZ quality. As far as North Dakota's version of Max Media, you are looking at it. Midco is the big one in this state, and they have pretty much made UND their new main school. They are broadcasting more UND games than any other school they cover, and they are actively trying to get on DISH an DirecTV.
  4. You are aware that Jayson has said multiple times that they upgraded their system and will be webcasting in HD all of midco's HD games this year. Nope All of their broadcasts on Big Sky TV are free though...
  5. I'll touch on the ones that stuck out to me the most... Starting with #1, I know there are certain aspects to this TV deal that suck, but the NCHC just can't compete with the sheer size of the Big Ten Conference. That conference is huge and comes with a huge reputation behind that built on football and basketball. It could be Big Ten Foosball for all we care, and ESPN i'm sure would still line up for a couple of broadcasts. The other part is your phrasing, "...fox sports etc etc." That is a little misleading, it sounds like you are saying it is FOX Sports 1 carrying those games when you are really just talking about FOX Sports North carrying games, which is a huge difference between a national network and a regional network. FOX Sports North has carried the gophers for a long time. As far as the NCHC TV contract goes, it isn't UND's TV contract, it is the NCHC's TV Contract, and we had one vote just like everyone else in the matter, but that doesn't mean it can't be changed, I just know it probably won't be this year. UND Sports' TV situation has grown (sparkly Midco HD, the quality of UND's Big Sky TV broadcasts have gone up [that football game vs. Montana, the disaster it was, looked really good], and they are apparently broadcasting soccer now). At the same time the extremities (lack of Hockey on FOX College Sports) have been hurt, but they are still on there for other sports....so that is something. #4, It's a little soon to start casting shadows about volleyball, isn't it? I mean they aren't even a quarter way done with the season...I mean, they started the season off with 3 straight tournaments and just came out of their latest one winning the whole thing. So let's hold off on that, at least until they are half way through their schedule. #6, i know, may be a little upsetting for this year, but you have to realize that it's not like it is going to be this way forever. Minnesota and Wisconsin will appear on the schedules again, don't worry. #10 You are saying this like they didn't have a good season last year, they were third in the conference behind two teams that nearly went undefeated in conference play. So, settle down. #16 Jayson has said on here before that all the hockey games that midco broadcasts in HD will also be online in HD, along with the ability to watch games on your mobile devices. Also, it literally takes two seconds to hook your computer up to your TV if you have a laptop that was designed in the past 4-5 years. So, it will be nice to watch UND on my nice big 55" screen all the way in Bismarck. While I do think many of your concerns are valid, there are some, like these, that I view as just a knee-jerk reaction to some things that happen and happen to many schools.
  6. And here I thought they put a production control room in the Ralph for that big thing hanging over the ice...
  7. Haha, I was wondering where it was going...i hoped on the page when it just said, "Me, I'm getting close..." and I was a bit confused.
  8. The only people I have ever known to have an FTA system are you people on here.
  9. Truth. Amazon is a wealth of $8.00 HDMI cables.
  10. This would not be a good option. Slingbox is not meant to work this way, and would cause a mess of things on Slingbox's end. A lot of people are confused by how this all goes down. UND, like a lot of colleges, uses Neulion and a quick look on Neulion's website shows that besides colleges, Neulion also does video services for the NHL, NFL, and many more. I emailed Neulion about how their system works for colleges like us. Apparently, UND sends it to Neulion and then the game is distributed over their servers down to the customers, So UND only has to worry about one person while all the customers are not accessing UND for the stream, but Neulion, so UND is the wrong person to be mad at when it comes to a customer's stream not working. Also, People are also getting mad at only 6 games being on national television instead of 22...well, here's the deal... First off, Fox College Sports is not a national channel, its a semi-national channel that is closer to being a regional channel like Fox Sports North is, so technically they aren't national games when being broadcast. Secondly, FCS doesn't have an HD channel, only SD. So, if people want games back on FCS, they will have to take a downgrade in quality along with it. Finally, both CBSSN and MidcoSN will be broadcasting all of their games in FULL HD this year, and while the home games that CBSSN does will not be webcast, it sounds like what Jayson is saying that UND got the right equipment this year to webcast all of the MidcoSN games in HD as well. So, through all of this, I would rather have this setup than last year. I know people generally don't like change, and for most, people will have to change how they get their games. I like it though, because I like my games in HD.
