It was a big deal. It was a perfect moment to calm everyone down and get a clear plan to win the game.

If we call a timeout and then throw the interception, we would all be talking about how we had the momentum, SD just pulled their sack monster off the field, and Bubba made the worst decision ever.  Nothing like hindsight to make us all feel a little smarter.

What’s the outsider opinion if UND wins next week and UNI loses? None of them in or does UND get a shot?

What if UNI and UND wins? Here is their potential FCS records:

    6-4 SDSU

    6-4 UND

    6-4 UNI

    which one gets in?

I think UNI getS sent in that situation. SDSU would have losses to both UND and UNI and it would seem pretty tough to put them in the playoffs over both UND and Uni in that situation. I think if people are convinced the Missouri valley is getting five teams in the playoffs, UND has a legit shot at the playoffs if UNI losses and we beat SDSU. Still looking like a possibility to me that the Missouri valley only gets foUr teams in in the above scenario.  I'M NOT SURE IF THERE ARE ANY SCENARIOS WHERE THE BIG SKY ONLY GETS THREE TEAMS IN THE PLAYOFFS, BUT THAT WOULD SURE HELP

  3. Tommy's game yesterday was great. He made some pretty good throws on plays where he had to find a second or third read. He also made a great touchdown pass where he took a big shot. And isn't it nice to have a quarterback that can complete the swing pass?  Also nice to have Boltman back!

So the 5-5 Hawks go to Brookings.  SDSU is going to need a win to try and get seeded for the post.  Very very small chance the Hawks make it, but if they were 6-5 what would they need to get in?

I think we need both SDSU and UNI to lose next week, and even that may not be enough.  It looks like there is a good chance the Big Sky gets four teams in, which hurts the chance of getting 5 teams from the Valley in.  But you just never know.  At this point we still have a meaningful game to play next week and I'm happy about that!

So if we win out the rest of the way, and would have played a middle of the road FCS school instead of Utah State and won that game, would we be in the playoffs because we were 7-4?

Doubt it.  We'd still be behind 5 or 6 other MVFC teams

Over a couple years, I've sent emails and a letter showing concerns friends and I had of having students sit at mid-field.
    A few reasons came to mind, but the biggest was;
No other Div I football team in the adjacent state area had a student section at mid-field (Montana, Montana St, SD, SDstate, NDSU, & Min). All had them at the 30 yard line and towards the end zone and/or behind the end zone.

That argument make sense if the average fan has a hard time getting a good seat.  We aren't there yet.  Students harassing the opposing team is a good thing and I'd like to see that come back

It “works” for UND because it is their identity, it’s what they do via Freund. Now, is it the best way to develop the QB position and bolster the offense? I don’t think so - it’s absent around the country for a reason. I think it hurts leadership and development at QB position, but Freund is the QB coach, so I guess he knows best …

I still stand by the old adage: if you have two quarterbacks, you have no quarterback. Obviously, if you have a good QB, you play him the entire time. Indirect proof neither Schuster or Vaughn is good enough to get the job done.

We don't have two quarterbacks.  Vaughn just runs our version of the wildcat, with the added ability to throw a little more.  The comment about our system being indirect proof Schuster isn't good enough to get the job done is probably the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen on this forum, and that's saying something.

  8. No excuse for not getting plays in or the number of false starts this year.  And I think we need to be a pass first team looking for guys like jack wright, zavalney, and someone else to step up and become consistent targets. They don't need to be burners, they just need to understand leverage and Tommy will throw them open.  Schuster's decision making and arm can  win games for us if we game plan for it from the starrt.  Run game just isn't going to be a strength this year.  And can defense get a pick?  Should have had two of them on each of the last two games.

So I am not able to watch the game live because of kids sports all day.

If anyone else is in that spot, ESPN says they repost the games 90 minutes after they end.

    Thanks.  Appreciate the info.

Love Feeney.  Seems like a well coached intelligent kid who could handle something like being thrown in the fire.

Tommy has all the time in the world left at UND, but IMHO there could be the crossroads next year of, "Ohh crap, Feeney is better than Tommy and Q."

    Unlikely.

  11. I was surprised SDSU didn't try to run a play that would have given them a chance at a last second field goal.  I think they still had a timeout left.  Or if you want to run the hook and ladder, get the ball to your stud running back.

Sort of hate to see this guy go.  He had some really good catches at key moments for us this year.  Made Me excited about our potential to use tight ends again for the first time since the Chad mustard era.

  13. We beat sdsu, the number one seed and did that after getting off to a poor start. We easily beat another playoff team that is still in the mix.  Jmu has had a couple games this year where they did not look very good.

    28 - 17 UND.

Tommy will throw for over 200 yards and after the game people will complain that he isn't a big enough running threat and that somehow makes us one-dimensional. Ndsu's quarterback will throw for 50 yards and their fan base will think he is the next coming of Trey Lance.

Best wishes to Bo and a speedy recovery.  The kid will be a difference maker by the time he’s a senior.  You could argue he was as a true freshman.  He fits this offense perfectly.

If bo doesn't recover quickly enough to be full strength in the fall, can he redshirt and stiy get 4more years to play?  Just wondering how things work with this year that doesn't count.
