Still have Sulak and Jerry. Coach made it sound like they have improved. Listen to 360 podcast.
I didn't see anything last year that made me think Jerry wouldn't turn out to be a good QB. Still tickled that he didn't get more garbage time. That alone made me glad to see bubba go.

I'm not going to get too excited about early commits. For some it's just a way to say "considering offers with serious NIL money only"

Loss by loss! In one 6 month stretch, we can see turnover of Bubba, Sather and Berry! Believe!
Please add Chaves to this list

Are we moving on from kaminsky? Or did he transfer out? I liked what I saw from him in very limited time he got and was hoping he would buy into what Smitty is selling.

I'm really disappointed. This whole tracking tail numbers thing turned out to be a farce. I spent hours and hours on that and I could have just as well learned how to use an abacus for all the good it did me.
I do like the Schmidt higher though. He has to have learned a lot from DeBoer and were going to find out if the DeBoer coaching tree is going to produce.

It is just insane Jerry hasn't seen the field getting meaningful reps in certain situations that have been presented to date. That is strictly ignorance and arrogance on the part of the HC and OC.
Either they want Jerry to leave, or they are absolutely incompetent.

We don’t have the talent though. So what are we talking about here. They haven’t changed their recruiting strategy ever. Same approach, same results. Again and again. Small front 7, can’t stop the run. Can’t recruit DBs even though the HC used to coach DBs. Non explosive WRs. It’s a recipe for….. 7-5 every year and can’t win on the road or in the playoffs.
We could certainly use a talent upgrade. That's true for most teams regardless. Bigger issue by far is bubba. Bubba isn't going to bring in better talent through the portal. Not sure what we've seen in the past 10 years that would make anyone believe that's a possibility

Looks like Mo State is doing pretty good right now with portal guys?

Do you like our current path of the last 10 years?
Not at all. Our current path over the last 10 years falls on bubba, not so much on the talent that we have. Good coaches can get their players to run through a brick wall. Bubba is never going to accomplish that and he's also not going to replace any of the good players who entered the portal with better players from other teams. Turning things around at UND isn't going to be accomplished by bringing in a mass number of portal players - think Missouri State. It's going to be accomplished by getting rid of bubba

You like mediocrity or what?
Dumbass question. Losing talent to the portal isn't going to help us until bubba is gone. You like having a !@#!$ coach and less talent than we have now or what?

Would you rather minimize portal departures and be same old same old or get absolutely gutted but a new guy comes in and builds it his way? Maybe it doesn’t work, but I’m taking the latter all day. Worth the risk, imo.
Agree 100% if we got a new guy, but that isn't happening anytime soon.

People get worried about guys hitting the portal. Just think of it like a forest fire. The ground is more fertile afterward and allows for better growth to follow.
We struggle to recruit enough talent the way it is. You think we'll do better when we have twice as many spots to fill?

New commenter, but longtime follower. I have to say it. Look at the first few games. There was a different vibe for all of the players. They were having fun and looking good. Around that time, there were some “changes” made and the position coach’s demeanors changed. I don’t know exactly what this was, but know of a few things. This came from the top. I saw an immediate shift in the team. Taking all of the confidence and fun out of it for people that have worked their entire lives for this is very upsetting and mentally draining. Bubba just ain’t it. Freuchte is good, but his hands are tied in some cases. (Usually the bad calls.) Nothing to say, positively, about the DC.
And, yes, the napping happens frequently.
Please expand on these comments. Not doubting you, just wanting to know a little more.

Being a realist with the Bubba situation (we all know he's the issue, but he's not going anywhere), what's the best we can hope for? (1) Simon and the offense continue to excel. Simon is coming off a performance where he was excellent. (2) Individual growth defensively. There needs to be a handful of players that you feel good about in future seasons.
Must win for the program. They need to win this one, win one against the SD schools and then put it all on the line the last game of the season. They aren't going anywhere this season, clearly with the defense. When I say what's the best we can hope for? It's feeling good about this team offensively going into the offseason, have a handful of guys defensively you can build around. Unfortunately for Joel, he will be the scape goat (better than nothing, starting with a new DC). Defensive rebuild. To do that, this team needs to win the portal. Sell enough hope that next year could be different. They cannot afford another bad portal year like last.
Not sure I would say our offense excelled at YSU. We got 14 points with a lot of help from the refs. Romfo definitely looked better but our run game wasn't there.

I would respectfully disagree on going for two. If you’re the better team (supposedly) you don’t risk the game on a single play.
We weren't the better team. The only reason the game was closed is because the refs spotted us 14 points. I didn't particularly have a problem with going for two there, but I can't in my mind imagine a play where we would be better off having Quincy Vaughn in than running our normal offense. Did the bubba regime not have enough iconic poor play call blunders already? I suspect that asinine play call will cost us the playoffs.

I like the idea of going for it there, but hate the play call.

UND 7-23 on the road.
Take out the wins over teams like Idaho State, ISU Blue, Northern Colorado, and Murray State and you get down to probably 1 or 2 wins. Off the top of my head, Portland State is the only road win I can remember over a team that finished above 500.
On the bright side, if bubba won today there is no telling how long Chavez would have extended him for.

Biggest positive of the year so far:
Fruechte>>>>>Danny>>>>>> Landry.
We might have dodged a bullet there.

Wasted a good opportunity to get some reps for our backup QB. Wondering if he'll be here next year if they can't get him some meaning reps with a 30 point lead in the 4th quarter.

Would it be too much to ask Jack Michaels to sound excited when UND makes a good play and not excited when the opponent has a good play.

If Danny leaving gives us the opportunity to move pawlek up the chain, I'll take that hands down.

Because they are not who they want us to believe they are.
How many times must this be said before it sinks in. Some folks that post here think they've found a clever way to sabotage the program. And a lot of folks on here just add fuel to the fire.
