I bet they worked all week on discipline and scoring.

You're damn right...and it...didn't pay off...If they didn't work on it the BAD on UND coaching staff and if they did work on it all week then BAD on UND coaching staff and players...Yoy, yoy, yoy.

Where Stoney Sioux to tell us how good we will  be next year with all the awesome recruits we have coming in. This coaching staff couldn’t coach the 82 oilers.

I hear you.  We seem to have highly-recruited recruits coming in essentially every season (just count the # of NHL picks we get) so I ain't got no faith after the last 2 - 3 seasons for those coming in based solely on where they rack & stack as that doesn't really seem to matter anymore (i.e. predict "future success").  Do we chase the Minn-St Mankato coach?  Not sure what he makes but gotta think we can double his salary?

If Berry wants to retain one shred of respect he needs to sit Rhett's a** tomorrow. This crap if frickin pathetic.

Or if Rhett had any self respect he'd turn over his letter after the game.

You said it, agree 100%.  So dumb.  "Emotion" is good only if it's good, productive emotion.  His emotion isn't good and costs the team despite his all-star face-off %.

It was over after the Canisius series.  Been saying that for a while now...

Cue the usual “we can play with anyone in the country” rebuttal from several folks on the board.

Yah, but we can play down to anyone in the country, meaning we are a very average team.  The worst of the best and the best of the worst.  That's why we are where we are and we are who we are.  Man, we had great intensity/urgency.....in the last 5 minutes.  To be understood I guess though as we're a lock for the big dance.  Oh wait, we're barely on the bubble looking in from the outside.  Yoy.

The person in charge of the power play needs to just resign.

Hmm, my bad, I thought they had no pp and was thinking it was about time they hired one after tonight's 0 for 7 "power" play effort/result.

Hard to believe a head coach can’t control his team. I understand things happen in hockey game but this is a pattern.

Yup, for all of Hak's critics, he would of handled this.  God forbid we sit him a game, can't afford to do that as we would be w/o a guy who .....hasn't scored in half a season.

I'm still sitting here trying to figure out how, out of a 60 minute hockey game, UND only managed 3 shots on goal in 30 of those minutes!

Gotta be some sort of record.

It boggles the mind but it's really just a microcosm of the last few seasons and how we are so offensively challenged.

Absolutely, it’s so frustrating knowing they had NO chance of winning tonight. Zero. Just like last Saturday. Only UND can get swept against teams that have less talent, not the other way around.

Berry two years in a row after not missing for 15 straight! Love it!

    Fire Haks!

A few weeks ago, CC beat Duluth on a Friday night and then the next night, UMD came out like a completely different team. I have a feeling Sandelin wasn’t very happy with his team’s performance last night and tonight will be a tougher challenge. He has a way of motivating his boys but hat said, I hope UND responds in kind and sweeps Duluth tonight!

You nailed it, they were a different (better) team tonight.  Still, as well as they played, it took them two-2 man advantage power plays(and a solid pipe by UND) to pull this one out on UND.

Why do you hate girls hockey so much?  hate on hata

Puzzled, where does he say or necessarily indicate that he "hates" girls hockey?  My hunch is he's just not tuned in to it.  I tried watching UND women's hockey (I coach girls soccer, watch women's national team soccer, and have 3 daughters/no sons so I've got no inherent bias against women's sports) but the fact they don't check makes it a different game.  That's not good, bad or anything but in my mind (certainly others can disagree, that's fine) it's what inherently makes hockey a great sport in that is has skill, speed and physicality.  One aspect of those, the latter, is missing from female hockey.  For some, that's fine and I get it, but for me it just doesn't cut it in terms of viewing pleasure.

Ignorant much?  The Grand Forks girls team has never won a state championship yet you are somehow trying to argue they've enjoyed the benefit of home ice?  If home ice matters that much shouldn't they at least have won one title based on it being such an advantage?

The best teams tend to win regardless of the location.

Good point.  The last decade or several years of the WCHA Final 5 I St Paul was basically Minn home ice but UND sure did a number down there.

Watch men play hockey then watch women play hockey. It you can’t tell that one group is vastly better on their skates then you’re blind.

You know what, I might of argued with you but I saw highlights tonight of both girls and boys HS ND state hockey tourney and I'm not a great hockey mind and did not play hockey but watching the girls was like night and day compared to the boys in terms of skating skills, speed, power, balance.  No contest, boys were superior based upon the highlights I saw, it just jumped right out at me .  Can there be exceptions, sure there can, but overall no debate.

Anyone concerned with our goal tending? I didn't watch the game, but the highlights showed Thome out of position a lot of the time. It's rare to see a goalie play like he does....is it concerning or just his style???

He made my heart skip a few beats too, he certainly likes to bounce around and flop and it makes it scary at times.  Probably his style but it's scary.  I think he needs to tame it a bit to improve.

Bold take but this has to be one of the most inconsistent hockey teams in program history. It is almost clockwork that if we steamroll a team on Friday night we will lay an egg Saturday night or vice versa. Whether it is a leadership issue, bad luck with injuries, or just not the top tier hockey players we are accustomed to bringing in, this is the time of year where we need momentum and I don't see that happening.

What you're saying is spot on but what it means is it's essentially an average team or just slightly above average cus we have beaten some good teams on several occasions (although lost/tied some games to less than average teams), hence the #21 (?) PW ranking.

Folks do realize that UND’s NCAA consecutive appearances run was the second longest in history. What UND did is far from normal or expected.

You make a great point, I hear you, yet a good number of folks on this board wanted Haks fired despite that achievement cus he kept coaching badly in the FF and natty final.
