  1. JL Beers in West Fargo is on social media touting that they will soon be tapping their first ever keg of Half Brothers Brewing's beer, but not telling us which beer they got.  Anyone frequented Half Brothers enough to know what they're touting as their signature beer?  I've only been in there twice, since I don't get downtown GF very often.

I think this will be different, he is a lot better than Cassel.  But they think he is the guy so they have to pay accordingly.

if he delivers, it will be an absolute steal.  Niners will compete for a playoff spot and might be a threat in the division. Lots of questions in. Seattle and Arizona and who knows if the Rams can repeat what they did.

The issue is now Cousins will see this and say (I’ve put up big numbers and this guy get a big contract for 6 games of work?  Well then, I going for $150 million)

To think KC had actually seen more games from Cassel when they paid him, than the 9'ers have from Jimmy G, makes it a little scary.  I know they're buying hope and getting rid of the questions of bringing back Kaepernick, but that contract is nuts for someone with so few games under his belt.  Just my opinion, of course. YMMV.

Jimmy G just got 5 year/137.5 million contract in SF.

Drives up the price for Kirk.

Yet another "He was a backup in NE.  Seriously, he backed up Tom Brady.  Pay this man like he is Tom Brady!"  I think I saw this show in KC a few years ago...

To me with him not committing anywhere else, I’d say he’s trying to come to UND still.

Keegan could be playing at any of the 5 Minnesota schools, yet he’s not committed to any of them.

Saw him play against the Fargo Force this weekend.  Had a big shutout on Friday night, then got chased on Saturday.  Of course he looked good in the shutout.  When he got shelled the next night... not so much.  A couple of goals were in tight when his D couldn't clear it, but by the 4th or 5th he let in, it was clearly just not his night.

UND commit Mark Senden got the first goal against him on Saturday.  Senden isn't lighting up the score sheet for the season, but he does a lot of things right. Good head on his shoulders.

Hard to believe there were people on here defending that hit

It let up once more video came out, didn't it?

I'll tell you from my point of view, live at the game, it didn't look like much of anything.  Well, it kind of looked like a dive, but not a bad hit.  Seeing different angles after the fact makes it look a lot different.  I didn't defend the hit on here, but didn't like the call live.  Clarity of the morning after, hindsight is always 20-20, and all that.

  6. I wish I owned a bar in GF right now - seems a lot of people on the board could use a beer and time to chill out!

Yes, I watched the Friday game in Duluth, but I also watched the Friday game in Denver.  I will be attending both games this weekend.  The season has not ended, and I'm not giving up until it does.

You may now return to your regularly scheduled pessimism.

  7. I've had to sell two pairs of tickets this season when family couldn't attend.  I was able to get face value for the first, non-conference, pair early in the season, but had to do a two-for-one to get anything back for the Omaha game.  The number available, and the depressed prices, have surprised me.  I wish it had been so cheap/easy back when I didn't have season tickets!

  8. The difference in his scheme appears to be that he's capturing the wasted energy and reusing it.  It's not efficiency on the front side so much as it is that inherent byproducts are being used after the fact, vs. lost.

I'm not an engineer, but this is just what I gather.  If I'm wrong, I look forward to learning something new.

Thome made all of about one challenging save last night. Bob would've gotten that shutout as well. Cam starts Friday, and I'm sure he'll be dialed in.

I agree.  Sometimes I think the defense gets too confident with Cam behind them, and we some some chances taken that they don't with Pete in net.  Pete is going to be a very good goalie, but he is not our best goalie today.

Does anyone else feel like Bitzer is in his 6th year as Bemidji's starter?  Or, is it just me?

I don’t think he had an offer.  I mean he visited UND last year. He was at a pt per game pace in the ushl...once that happened I’m sure some of the coaches ears perked a bit.

He'll back back with the Force in the spring, so will get back to that competition. Looking forward to it!

Cakebread had a female get into his head, and it cost him his hockey career.  Spent all his waking time with her and not working on his game.

This is most of the story. And sad. Hak told me "best hands I've seen for a 16 yo" when he committed, then Marks took over and told him to toughen up, and the rest is history...

High marks. A great addition to the local scene.

And honestly, will anyone miss the Mill?

Grabbed a burger and beer at Crooked Pint before Friday's hockey game.  Honestly, not overly impressed.  I'll probably give it another try or two, as I believe some of the issues we saw were due to it being so new, but I definitely wasn't wowed.  Oh, and $20 for a burger with fries and a pint?  Not going to be labeled as one of the better deals around...

Side note;  Had someone trying to tell me that Blue Moose is now charging $10 for a beer.  I'm thinking maybe if it was some specialty brew, but it just doesn't sound right.  Anyone experience this?  I haven't eaten at the Moose for a few weeks, but I know I didn't pay that much when I was there on the 11th.

  12. IMHO, until there's a test for impairment, it should not be recreationally legal.  I'm not going to debate the level of alcohol that's labeled impaired, but there is a test for what's in a person's system at a given point, like if there's an accident.  Pot looks essentially the same, under the tests currently available, whether the person smoked it an hour ago or a day ago.  Cocaine disappears from current tests more quickly. Do coke on Friday, pass your drug screen Monday.  Drink whiskey on Friday, pass your drug screen on Monday.  Do pot Friday, and you'll still fail the screen a week later...

Want more support for legalization?  Find a way to measure impairment.

Maybe I was at the wrong game but I thought the crowd was pretty solid for a thanksgiving series. The only section open was that corner one on the NW side of the rink in the upper bowl.  Makes me think we should take another student section away in the upper bowl because most of those sections were more full than they were against Miami. The crowd also tried to will the team back into the game with some chants despite them only scoring 3 goals on the weekend. Obviously having the band quiets it down some between plays but I thought it was a pretty good turnout <shrugs>

I thought the crowd was good too. Remember though that tickets could be had at affordable prices. With the subway discount adult tickets were $15 each and youth tickets were $10.

Agree that the crowd was good size.  I was speaking to them being so quiet.  I brought some friends with on Saturday night, who remarked how quiet the arena was.  For reference, it was their first and second game ever attended at the Ralph, so they were comparing it to other hockey arenas.
