  1. Which is why USD and SDSU isn't even a rivalry. They don't give a !@#$.

By that argument there is no rivalries in the nation. Because it seems like every town you are in the majority of people will go to the local game.

Also when they(USD/SDSU) play each other, their true colors normally come out. The family that went to USD wearing SDSU stuff to every other game will take out the Red for that game.

  2. Here's a crazy thought. Unlike some Bison/UND fans. Some UND fans are indeed fans of both UND and NDSU. Both fans of UND/NDSU football and UND hockey.

But from what I see most of those fans are from Fargo, went to UND, and returned to Fargo. Living in Fargo it "comes with the territory:" aka people looking to "party" without driving to GF.

It usually always turns out this way. No matter where. USD and SDSU alumni are always going to the other depending on where they are. Seems like alot of the USD game day crowd is from Yankton, Sioux City, Mitchell, Some Sioux Falls(more to SDSU as it is closer). While SDSU is more Brookings, Huron, Watertown, Sioux Falls.

Most are FOOTBALL fans, many just like to see a game at the cheapest possible

  3. So just because someone goes to a game make them that team's fan?

Hmm, so that section in Montana apparel at the Mont vs UND game were UND fans?

That guy wearing the Marlins jersey at the Giants vs Royals game was a Royals fan?

The girl I personally saw wearing a Avalanche jersey to the Wild vs Kings game was a Wild fan?

It is ussually about getting the experience and what game is feasible to go to. Right now nothing is to draw the UND allums to Grand Forks on Saturdays to watch football. If the team is doing well they will pay to travel up, if not they will just go watch whoever is local. I have been to games just because they were in the same town, while on vacation and while living there, even though I don't like either team.

  4. Really? A rivalry game has value even if it's not fun. Wow, that is so warped it's truly sad.

well its fun for you to come here and make alot of arguments mostly in excuses.

if there is no point + Noone at NDSU cares+ Not Fun + No Rivalry, then why are you here?

  5. Interest is high for all NDSU games, regardless of opponent. All games will sellout within a few hours.

It's not a sellout unless the students buy all their tickets, they have 400 un-bought tickets for this weekend. The student section will be sold out for this game.

  6. I think you're going to be disappointed by the atmosphere at the game next year. This not a big game...for NDSU.

No you are right it is a HUGE GAME for NDSU. If they have nothing to gain against a school 70 miles away then it means even more to them. If they are really on top of the mountain then no home games mean nothingn to them. If it isn't a big game to NDSU then we sure will see alot more UND fans at the game, even though most of the comments I saw on the media reports from NDSU fans and from hearing from NDSU students are that they are going to try their hardest to get tickets.

  7. It was kind of heated for a while, SDSU beat NDSU three straight times from 2007-2009 but now SDSU losing 5 straight to NDSU has kind of taken the steam out of things.

Not sure NDSU really has a rival in football at the moment.

Eh must've died out when SDSU thought they would beat Nebraska.

  8. So, you're saying that thousands of UND fans have left to become Bison fans? Fickle bunch.

He never said that they were Bison fans. There are alums, and fans of UND in all other sports that just don't see the point as of now to drive from Fargo to Grand Forks on Saturdays like they used to. If they still want to watch the sport they will just occasionally buy a ticket to the in town game, in that case NDSU. It similar to going to a Vikings game and seeing quite a few people wearing jerseys and shirts from other teams not playing. They want to see a game but not worth the travel at that moment. Heck even a Marlins fan was at the Giants-Royals game last night.

  9. This topic is the reason I would rather read SS than Bville.  Usually Bville has 6 posters that post on every topic and know everything there is to know about everything.  It looks like we have a couple here.  The problem with the game is the fans.  Right now, not 1 team is focusing on this game.  UND is playing the #6 team in the country and NDSU is playing their current rival.  Again, come the start of next season, the teams still won't focus on the game.  They will worry about it in the week leading up to it.  UND will be up for the game as Bubba has experienced this rivalry and that will show to the players.  NDSU coaches haven't, but look at the games they have been a part of in the last 4 years.  NDSU fans might be worried about a loss, but I'm sure the players will treat it like business as usual, and right now, business is booming.

I still don't know how SDSU is a rival with them. Atleast half my graduating class attends SDSU, and I have seen one post or heard of any chatter from theem about playing NDSU. Just a bunch of trying to trash USD students.

  10. What I don't understand is that NDSU says they will whip UND no matter what, but yet they are afraid of the consequence if they lose? If they were so sure they would win they wouldn't have to 1. comment as they would be too good to care. and 2. Wouldn't be afraid of what may happen to recruiting because it will be a whooping. So obviously these two NDSU "fans" care since they are going on non-stop about the game.

2nd: no team is ever going to win the rest of the national championships. NDSU will have their down time and I feel like it will be sooner then later.

  11. You know outside of this board I have not heard any NDSU fan not say they want to play UND. Many of the current students that I know say they do. If NDSU wasn't as dominate over the last few years, UND would still want to play NDSU, it only makes sense once both are out of transition they should play.

Just know that NDSU trolls have to come on here and try to defend their program and say its not important to them, but never leave the thread is proof that Rivalry against no matter who it is can be a scary situation. It the same situation with Minnesota in Hockey, Minnesota said that UND wasn't important to be on their schedule every year, and went out of their way to make sure to not get them as a OOC every year. Then the Frozen Four matchup happened last year and it was again a huge deal to them.

  12. I just did.  My guess is they sent to all season ticket holders of any sport.  Not sure I want to make myself available for a 4 hour meeting to discuss how to do a process!!

I did as well, but I am also a student season ticket holder I guess.

  13. I was on at 11 and there weren't any tickets available for me either. I also called and was on hold for 30 min before finally hanging up. This is why I've said multiple times that the regional should be in Sioux Falls...

Exactly, Sioux Falls rink is nice for USHL hockey, and it is like 10,500 seats for hockey.

Plus i don't know how many ticket students get, but I do know that NoDak Nation sounds to be in control of them, as they say perfect student attendance and Nodak Nation points puts you higher on the llist

  14. That's incorrect. The fake punt was the perfect call, the players failed to execute that and then failed to execute on defense afterward.

Punting into the wind could've had the same result, didn't we have a punt on the road this year that went like 5 yards in the wind?

  15. Although it's not as important to have ac as it is to have heat since memorial is used all summer and the IPF is really going to mostly be used in the winter or if it's storming.

Most buildings on campus do not have A/C. If they do you can see the 1980's A/C hanging out the windows(Ie. Okelly)

  16. The University is essentially renting TCF Bank Stadium to the Vikings on NFL gameday. There is no way they can prohibit the Redskins from wearing their regular uniforms.

The U has tried to get the vikings to agree not to pronounce the Name, and not to put the logo or name on the scoreboards/programs but I think the Vikings said no, that they are part of the NFL who makes the decision if a name is allowed to be used or not.

  17. Can you name the department or describe your source? While UND's handling of the nickname is certainly fair game for criticism, I believe that people on here are entitled to know whether something asserted as true is a fact or merely a rumor. No offense, but I am calling BS on this one

Finanical Aid and I believe most departments in Twamley can not wear FS apparel

  18. I went down to Sioux Falls from GF for the Stampede Home opener on the 11th. The crowd was announced at 10,678. It looked pretty packed, and definately good enough to host a NCAA Regional. A lot of concourse room, seats are very comfortable, quite a bit of bathrooms. I believe last year in the old SF Arena they were #1 in the USHL in average attendance, and definitely will be this year. I can see them trying to use it to grow hockey in Sioux Falls as well, as youth hockey is moving into a new facility as well, from the old barns they played into up till this year. If there were some teams closer to Rapid City, I hear that the Rushmore Civic center is very nice as well, hosting the ECHL Rapid City Rush

  19. Bubba needs to walk around campus and speak directly with students, maybe hand out tickets to students(As some are too lazy to pick up their free ticket). Coach Kill did this for Minnesota and seemed to make a huge difference. Let the students know how much they are appreciated at the games.

  20.

I just wish that Mollberg would have more than one read. To me and my non-elite football mind, he is always just looking at one receiver and if that receiver is not open he will either force it to him, hold on to it too long and get sacked, or scramble for a couple yards. I could be wrong about this but that is just what i see

I have been thinking the same thing. Few times there were open recievers who weren't even looked at as he was staring down the receiver. I think he did a better job yesterday as there wasn't as many defenders trying to jump the routes, and the 2pt conversiion he found the guy who was calling for the ball while he was trying to scramble.

  21. How bout that d? Holy !@#$ they are fun to watch. Basically all of their penalties were of the punch you in the mouth variety. That's the most fun I've had at a UND game in at least 10 years. Our d is the best in the big sky, no contest.

Also Rudolph had some outstanding play calls all game. He never put us in danger with questionable calls. He's got my vote and deserves everyone's confidence. His naked boot call on that 3rd down before the fg we had blocked was perfect, Joe just couldn't get it done....

Speaking of Joe may have found his game late in the fourth. He had some perfect throws, some under a lot of pressure. He needs to build on that. If he does, look out.

I had a odd vantage of that boot, But it looked like if he kept his angle towards the sidelines he may have been able to get very close to the first down, I believe he tried to turn up field.
