So, Smith Entertainment Group wanted an expansion team, but with the NHLPA and NHL not getting an answer from Alex Meruelo on when an arena would be built. That is when the NHL decided to have Meruelo sell the hockey operations and players to Ryan Smith (SEG), with Meruelo keeping the Coyotes intellectual property (name and history), the AHL team and a 5 year exclusive window to bring back the Coyotes. The NHL treated the Utah move as an expansion team just without the draft. Meruelo who could have had this all started if he worked with ASU on the old golf course across from Tempe Market place or with the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (they own Talking Stick Resort and everything along the 101 north of the Salt River to North Scottsdale). He won't work with ASU because he can't have a sportsbook there and with the tribe, he can't have the housing and sports book on their land. With the land they were trying to get in the auction it had to be rezoned which was brought up by the PHNX Coyotes guys in May saying, "there needs to be a special use permit for an arena." The original plan for that land was to build a hockey (and basketball or volleyball) complex that would have an arena around 3,000 to 7,000 seats. He wants to get the area to be a "Theme Park" district, so he doesn't have to pay taxes and the Pheonix Mayor said no. Alex Meruelo is basically an incompetent owner who just blames everyone for not being prepared from the Tempe vote to not having a lawyer who specializes in rezoning. Oh, he still hasn't started the arena he was going to build for the University of Nevada. Edit: I also forgot to mention that Meruelo has until December 2027 to let the NHL know he is bringing the team back and not really 5 years. So, he has to have a half-built arena, pay the $1 billion to activate the team, and give 18 months' notice to the NHL.

The blueline rule need to be the neutral zone side for the puck to be out/offsides.

Waved off, way to close to over turn 2-0

Has connections there as a former player and assistant coach.

https://thehockeywriters.com/college-hockey-in-florida/ This was insightful on Florida college hockey.

This was interesting.

Whaaaaberries, the more Walsh talks the more I dislike him and see why he put the tweet of Fleury with the sword in the back.

I get a student ticket and they only like to give one ticket out per game since it is the hottest ticket on campus (they only give students 2 at the most). They also release them the week of the game, so Friday is released Monday and Saturday/Sunday is released Wednesday. I have seen UND fans at the games, but I expect more when UND is there this season. I'm always standing above the student section by the band since you can't drink in the student section. Steve Peters has said he'll be at ASU games this year while working for PHNX Hockey, I have yet to see him at a game.

My ASU tickets will be free, but the parking and beer/food basically make it come out like I bought tickets

Bartoszkiewicz was told by Motzko to go back to the USHL because he didn't want him to sit on the bench all season and he would come back the following season. But he was so bad in the USHL he was sent to the NAHL and he got replaced by a transfer.

They are going to have 4 goalies Grant and Hampton Slukynsky say, 'Broncos country, let's ride,' and pick Western Michigan - The Rink Live | Comprehensive coverage of youth, junior, high school and college hockey

They were the only one, with Rowe still having a 5th year. Forgot they got the former Minnesota goalie that went back to juniors but did so bad he ended up in the NAHL from the USHL. The NCHC is going to be very interesting with goalies this season. Western Michigan, St Cloud, and Duluth with young goalies, UND and CC with a two-goalie rotation, Denver could play all three, Omaha and Arizona State with a solid starter (ASU has 5 goalies listed), and Miami with the never ending rebuild. Edit: I guess Rowe will still be at Western Michigan

A $8.5 million subtraction

Official now, but feel this is a really dumb move by Washington.

Markstrom to the Devils Rumblings Pierre-Luc DuBois is being traded to Washington for Kuemper. DuBois has just been a cancer to every team he's been on.

The most annoying thing is watching played just wait for the puck coming to them instead of skating to it.

Saw that one coming

The whole coaching staff left (Spratt is only one left), Potulny to the AHL, Pool to Dartmouth, Peruzzi to UConn. Maybe NIL a small part, but why would the whole staff leave? Potulny leaving for the AHL makes sense but the other two taking basically the same job somewhere else doesn't.
