  1. Kinda funny that an article in the Las Vegas Review Journal cited above by PCM states that very thing. That being said, I agree with Ralph's own opinion on his actions, "not only stupid but insensitive." As far as being a Nazi or a Nazi sympathizer (there is a big difference between the two) I think we should give the deceased the benefit of the doubt.
  2. 21. UND's overall image is better than NDSU's. 22. UND's athletics' image is better than NDSU's. 23. NDSU is winning the public relations game in these parts. 24. NDSU's move to Division I athletics is a major factor why some feel that NDSU has surpassed UND.
  3. Then why were four of the questions on the Task Force survey focused on NDSU?
  4. The report stated in a number of places that numbers for staying DII were needed in order for a comparison to be made. I agree with that opinion.
  5. I did last week during a lunch break. I thought it was relatively disappointing. There were mistakes, ommissions, and shotty work in many parts. I agree that the issues are cost and conference. However, I felt that the report did nothing to estimate anywhere near the true cost of a move (or stay). For UND to make a move without those numbers in hand would be quite surprising. Of course, the coaches and staff could probably churn those out in a couple of weeks.
  6. 1) it was the NDAC. 2) NDSU has more accredited engineering programs (8) than UND (6). Our architecture, construction management, and landscape architecture programs are also accredited. 3) I have no idea what difference point 2) makes, but it's true. 4) NDSU has master's and Ph.D. programs as well 5) see 3) and substitute 4) for 2)
  7. well, academic departments and affiliated research programs aren't the first pair to over extend and do things half-assed
  8. I agree almost completely with this. Colleges and universities are complex systems whose primary assets are it people and how they are managed. As such it takes a pretty significant difference to say that one institution's education program is better than anothers, it is easier to compare apples and oranges if I may use fightingbooya's analogy, with fruit being sub-units of each institution. That being said, according to the Iowa Bison rating system NDSU and UND are in the same class (Gamma Class to be exact) for both undergraduate and graduate education.
  9. research is not education.
  10. Actually, tnt, I won't, as I was serious about not having knowledge of an objective ranking of undergraduate education. I do appreciate the snideness in your remarks though. {Edit: I don't know of one for graduate or professional education either.}
  11. Find me an objective measure anywhere and I'll buy you a coke. (US News and World Report ranking system is a certified piece of garbage-there are thousands of university administrators and educators who have the same opinion. Putting any stock into a publication like the Princeton Review that identifies 'party schools' and 'dodge ball targets' seems silly as well.)
  12. We don't. Anyone who thinks that UND is in a different class than NDSU academically is off their nut.
  13. It should be noted that the facility upgrades are needed regardless of reclassification (per the task force report).
  14. The Sicatoka (or anyone else), do you have a non-siouxsports.com reference to the date being changed. I've looked myself but didn't find anything.
  15. So you believe that God chose for Mrs. Danley to pass away recently so that her inheritance could fund a move to DI? (now that's a joke, cdog).
  16. God bless them both. There is nothing quite like a university garden, it will be a treasure.
  17. It's not a revised anything. The NCAA has the perogative to make changes to its bylaws which are effective immediately, which it did in this case.
  18. It's not like they were keeping it a secret.
  19. The Story From the article: ' "That's much quicker than we thought going into it," Buning said of UND's classification study. "I think most of us had our eyes on the end of the summer." ' 'Harmeson said his NCAA bylaws show that the deadline to announce a move from Division II to Division I is Sept.1, which would have given UND officials the summer to debate the issue. But Kearns said the date was revised from Sept. 1 to June 1 in October 2005.'
  20. I don't know if I can. I thought Sept. 1 was the date also. Of course, I'm just a casual college sports fan. If I was a UND booster, I'd be asking Kupchella, Buning, and Harmeson just what the hell they think they are doing. (I beat you dollars to donuts a couple of folks have gotten their asses chewed out for this one.)
  21. There it is.
  22. What has really changed is that they added Northern Colorado and that put a wrench into things.
  23. It's funny you say that given what President Kupchella said himself in a letter printed in the Forum 16 months ago and in an interview by Steve Hallstrom that aired last night on WDAY.
  24. As the information collected by the Task Force will soon be sent to the administration....
