  1. Ha ha, yes it does (from experience).
  2. When did I contradict myself? I probably did, but just can't find it. Long story short, many of you guys want to keep the nickname because you would rather play SDSU than Jamestown, which now makes sense to me (although it is still below D-1 A which is all the same to me, however I agree when we have the chance to play the D-1 A teams and get rick-rolled it is still fun to watch for the first couple quarters (no sarcasm meant)). I simply think if this law does pass, the NCAA (after some time and arguements) will eventually let us off the hook. As for getting those games against liberal schools with money (UM, WIS, etc) probably won't happen. If the Seminoles can have their name so can we, I know we did it ass backwards, but at the end of the day there is no difference. They have approval, so do we...end of story. At a higher moral level, we have people of native decent fighting to keep the name....just doesn't make sense to me. They obviosuly do not find it offensive.
  3. Yeah, sounds crazy. I bet were going to be changing our state names next. Anyway, what is the benefit to SDSU of playing us? You actually think it has something to do with our nickname? If so how? I can see UM and Wis because their schools are so liberal.
  4. k thanks
  5. I hear you on that front...those regionals in GF were awesome.
  6. So when do they announce Berry???
  7. He's commited...I'm friends with his cousin who told me so right after he told me Steve was going to UNO. Steve doesn't want to coach his kid.
  8. OK....sorry guys my rant obviously offended some of you...and yes I am not expert on this subject. I simply want to keep the nickname and I don't believe the NCAA will be able to (nor would they want to) absolutely take everything away from us. Again, at the end of the day it is not like we are the only one's with this kind of nickname. By a small (very small) chance all the horror stories you guys keep making up are true...I say punt the nickname. Jeez, my last post sure rattled this thread a tad.
  9. Don't listen to any of these guys on this site....they are all trying to fill everyone's heads with garbage. They are simply pusing (to no end) to get rid of the nickname and are bashing everyone and their mothers for saying otherwise. They are scared because the would rather play Southeastern south dakota school of mines rather than jamestown even though that has not officially been proven yet. Whatever division the football team plays in will be just fine...either way it isn't D-I A football, everything below, well, is just below. You can still go out and hope your team wins. As for it affecting the hockey team...it won't...we simply will not be playing againt the Gophs or Badgers. They'll come calling when they need their stadiums filled.
  10. Yeah I get the hatred towards the CHL for the poaching...I get that. I agree something needs to be done about that. Regarding your second comment....I guess I'm barking up the wrong tree here. Sioux board...not hockey board.
  11. Yes I know....I am afraid we're going to lose the name though.
  12. Yes I am aware of that...I wanted to note something about how the only reason it is being taken away is regarding its political correctness. Maybe I'll have to keep looking.
  13. It is still in ND and many western kids go to UND. Oilers is actually the only one I have liked...although Nodaks is cool (although sounds kind of odd when saying the entire school name). I really do not like Norse/Norseman/Fighting Norseman. There are too many other nationalities in ND (German, etc).
  14. Yeah, I guess. It's too bad though.
  15. Hahaha, I was thinking the same thing. They should outlaw those things.
  16. ? Are you now comparing a CHL team to a USHL team?
  17. ...no I watch much more NCAA hockey....I find find it hard that people on this site are bashing one of the best develmental leagues in the world. More top NHL players come from the CHL than any other league. That league has the best kids from all over the world. I see some people comparing the USHL and the CHL...they are not even close. Now could BC beat a top CHL team..sure. Could a top CHL team BC....sure. I'm guessing BC would have a slightly older group of kids. But it would be a good game to watch. Again, I like watching NCAA hockey (or Sioux hockey that is) much more than CHL hockey....but I'm not ignorant to the fact that the CHL is the top developmental league in the world. Any hockey player knows that, although some simply want an education too...which I respect.
  18. Yeah I'm not blaming UND....I'm blaming the tribes. Again, on a right and wrong level...the natives now want to appeal the NCAA to keep the name....how can that be offensive? End of story....stamp the closed report. Let everything go on as it always has.
  19. This just makes no sense to me at at all... http://ndgoon.blogspot.com/2012/06/spirit-lake-nickname-supporters-to.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+blogspot%2FZTZqA+%28Goon%27s+World%29
  20. ...nice guy
  21. I like that one.
  22. Those were two pretty solid teams...guess I am confused??? The hockey was great...especially the host team that played so well. I just don't follow most of the teams for most of the year so I became slightly disinterested. But if you are a fan of hockey you got to watch some pretty great prospects.
  23. Check out the below link; I think it is a great article. While both leagues are great...I think young US players these days simply want to go where the best kids (in their age group are going). Many of the NTDP see kids they are playing against going to Canada to complete, so they go too. I am all for that, however, something has to be done with these players decommitting. The article is super old....but good and educating. http://aol.sportingn...y-ohl-whl-qmjhl
