Jeremy Wilmer in the portal…that’s interesting. Good production, I guess he was scratched for the FF game.

Has UND ever had a player who put up middling numbers in the USHL, but then surprised everyone & became a scoring dynamo like Brodzinski at the collegiate level?
Maybe oshie but that was a limited sample size.

Would we have played BC? I don’t think we would have fared too well.

I don't know if Mac Swanson's game is like Jackson Blake's, but look at the similarity between Swanson's current season and Blake's 2021-22 season with the Chicago Steel, both of which were the players' age-18 seasons:
- Swanson 53 GP: 25 G, 50 A, 75 points, 1.42 PPG
- Blake 61 GP: 27 G, 50 A, 77 points, 1.26 PPG
I know it was their age 18 seasons, but I believe blake had already been drafted prior to that second USHL season. Really excited for this Swanson kid. All he does is fill it.

And I am more curious as to who is nicer. Clearly you are not nicer than Brad Berry.
Maybe not

486 career points. Does Jackson Blake end his NHL career with over/under that amount?
I’ll take the over

They don't seem to have a choice. They do appear to have only 3 Freshman that are truly ready to go next year. Love Klee's upside and I think he'll have a huge year in the USHL, but I would send him back. Same with Littler. His development this year probably wasn't what anyone expected.
My ideal F roster, given where we are today.
SR. (5) Berg, Kunz, Jamernik, Schmaltz, Wilkie
JR. (4) James, McLaughlin, Montgomery, Strinden
SO. (1) Perron
FR. (3) Boisvert, Croal, Swanson
Additions. (1) Depth Freshman Forward (2) Highest Portal SO / JR you can find
Doesn’t Littler have to come in?

What do you think? Do we get another portal forward with Blake signing today?
I would sure hope so. None of our younger commits are ready I don’t believe.

An anonymous source has told me that Berg isn't signing, he is 100% coming back. On the subject of Whitelaw, he has some ability, but is not well-liked by teammates.
….his teammates were Badgers. I’m sure I wouldn’t have been well liked either

Meh, doesn't matter. The real question is who is a nicer guy?
Pointless response. It does matter because I am curious what the answer is.

08 Zach Nyman committed to Penticton for 24-25 keeping college as an option. We should be in on him.

I actually think he may be a better fit for pro hockey than Blake is at this current point due to his physical capabilities
He doesn’t play with pace at the college level…pro hockey will be tough for him currently. Had a nice shot though. To me, I can see why Blake would sign. I can rationalize it. If Berg signs, that would make absolutely zero sense. Basically means he doesn’t want to do school anymore.

Maybe Carolina didn’t like the way Blake was developing. Wanted to get him within the program to get him on track
Haha

Berg signing? I would have some thoughts there

Projection based on current info:
Forward (15):
GR - Jamernik
SR - Berg, Kunz, Schmaltz, Montgomery
JR - McLaughlin, James, Strinden
SO - Perron
FR - Swanson, Boisvert, Croal, Littler
2X - PortalDefense (8):
JR - Zmolek
SO - Livanavage, Wiebe, Komzak, MacDonald
FR - Jubenvill, Strathmann, EmeryGoalie (3):
SR - Semptimphelter
JR - Johnson
SO - HedquistSounds like the Blake news is imminent and potentially already done.
With that news, we're looking like we might need 1-3 forwards to add (depends on if Littler, Klee, or both/neither are ready). I'd guess that one of those two will come this fall and we'd grab two out of the portal. Hopefully Wilkie or another faceoff specialist can be added, which would allow Berry to put OMac on the wing.Losing Blake will be tough, as it seemed like so much of the offense went thru him at times this year. He'll need to clean up his giveaways/turnovers and add some strength to succeed at the next level.
I expect big jumps from a few forwards...guys like James, OMac, and Perron have the skill...another year will be huge. Steady progression from guys like Jammer, Berg, Kunz, and Strinden as well.
With Wilkie added, and another coming I would think, I actually like this roster. We’ll be good next year. D core is young but I like it. Many of those skill guys will make a jump…especially Perron. Swanson/Boisvert will be nice. BTW, Blake will be just fine.

Well Blake’s leaving earlier than i would have initially thought, we didn’t get any of the big name portal entrants (taking second on all)….watch we’ll hang 9 next year

Cooper Simpson with 3 and 2 in two games this weekend. Great to see! Games starting to slow a bit for him.

USA Hockey 18U National Tourney in Vegas. Zellers & SSM in the semifinals today.
Zellers' number still climbing. 4 tucks 1 apple (announced 2A, but score sheet only has 1) in the quarter finals. 5 points still a pretty good game. 4th goal was a ridiculous unassisted bank shot off the goalie's knee.
He leads the Tourney in goals & points.
Season total: 52 games 53 goals 52 assists = 105 points.
Looks like they’re in a bit of trouble at the moment

Well, if Carle got Pohlkamp because he is an American, then Berry should be able to pull Wood away from the Canadian-hating Minnesota crowd. (...and yes, despite Close, there are still a few of them.)
Carle got Pohlkamp because he’s a great recruiter that has a great thing going right now. He also plays a more free still of play, especially with his dmen.
