Yes.
AWESOME!!!!!
-
Yes, I do not want this to be rushed.
Yes that!!!

This is probly a dumb question but just wondering if everyone is still going to be yelling "home of the SIOUX" after the national anthem this next season. We have to show the freshman students the tradition we have here at UND if they dont already know it. It's going to be a sad day in Grand Forks if that tradition ever dies!!!!

What's wrong? Tired of watching the endless LeDrama on ESPN already?
LeBron is going back to Cleveland...LeBron wants to see what Carmelo is doing...LeBron is meeting with Pat Riley in Las Vegas...LeBron has moving trucks in his driveway...LeBron had Trix for breakfast this morning even though everyone knows that Trix are for kids...
Meanwhile, Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, quietly and without fanfare, sign new contracts.
LeBron has to find the team with the best players before he thinks about signing a contract, geez didnt you know that?
-
Had they not won in 2002 and 2003, I'd agree with you on this. Man I wish that the Gopher title drought still extended back to 1979.
I was just trying to be funny, you ruined it lol. At least we've won more Final 5s since then!!
-
Oh my! What will Gopher fans have to complain about now?
The fact that there's still Canadians on the team lol, and that the Gophers still can't win a national championship.
-
First off i think Schmaltz is going to be on the top line and will probly be the corner stone of our defence. And the only guy i wouldnt mind sitting is Mattson but he's a drafted seniour so its not gonna happen. And he cant keep sitting Ausmus cuz he's drafted, Stecher shouldnt sit and Keaton played to good last season and Poolman is spose to be good so small problem, who do you sit?
Schmaltz-Ladue
Mattson-Poolman, Ausmus
Stecher-Thompson
Or he sits Mattson and we get
Schmaltz-Ladue
Stecher-Poolman
Thompson-Ausmus
Sounds good!

Nick was already coming in the Fall, I assume someone else will now step in to this open role. Any names that we weren't planning on seeing here in the Fall?
Yea i knew he was all ready coming in, i just hope he can be that impact player, like the guys they talk about on tv and actually come through
-
Actually this was divulged at meeting on Monday. But whenever I break a storey I get too much crap. So in keeping my mouth shut
So when are these meetings in your head held?
-
I know im just being a selfish Sioux fan but i would've expected a little more loyalty from a guy like Rocco. Slightly irritated but good luck to him even though i think he's going to be stuck in the AHL, hopefully he proves me wrong.
-
So Rocco is gone, time to move on ... mistake in my opinion, cuz I think there was still plenty of room for development, but money talks. Good luck to him.
Moving on ...
Who do we see coming in to take his place?
Nick Schmalz,so hopefully he's the Johny whatever his last name is
-
And how do you propose branding women's athletics?
Icemen, the word men is in women so it works lol
-
Big Green, Icemen, Roughriders, North Stars...Everythings been taken it seems for our area, too bad we couldnt use something else that made sense to our territory, something like a strong prideful native american logo, oh
Hmm the Iceman is kinda cool, there's something about that i like, however the name doesnt match the colors, if we were blue instead of green it would.
-
Yah Tribe has come up I believe there are at least two other schools that have it - not a deal breaker in my opinion - once again I would just say that the liberal lefties that are going to make dang sure their opinions are heard when this decision is made will say it is too "Native American" in context no matter what spin you put on it. (they would also say it would just perpetuate the Fighting Sioux logo).
If UND decides to add a nickname it's going to be an ugly process and there will be no winners - We are North Dakota - let's keep it at that.
EXACTLY!!!!! FIGHTING SIOUX FOR EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Schmaltz-LaDue
Thompson-Stecher
Gives you one elite d pairing and one very very good d pairing. Both pairing are have the potential to put up huge numbers. Then you throw in Mattson to help cover any mental lapses of the freshy.
Or vice versa with Mattson, i think his freshman season has been his best so far.
-
Here is what I would like to see:
MacMillian-Parks-Caggiula
Schmaltz-Grimaldi-Johnson
Pattyn-Gaarder-Olson
St. Clair-Chyzik-ODonnell
Schmaltz-LaDue
Thompson-Stecher
Mattson-Poolman
Gothberg
Keep the top line how it is. It will be a veteran group that doesn't have any one stand out but has 3 guys that can hurt you in different ways. They should have plenty of chemistry but we need each one to make some improvements going into next season. We need more points out of that line to be frank. I was hoping to see more of an improvement out of all three than we did this season. Hopefully how this past season ended will give them plenty of motivation heading into next year.
As for the second line, I would like to see Schmaltz paired with Rocco and Johnson. He is a playmaking winger that, in my opinion, we need with Rocco and Johnson. I think this line could make or break us next year. Johnson absolutely has to improve his game and become a bigger threat to score. He has the talent, he just needs to bring it consistently. If Johnson does improve and Schmaltz can make an immediate impact this line could be a matchup nightmare for any team in the country as it would have a fantastic combination of speed and scoring ability with all three guys able to bring something a bit different to the table.
The third line might be the most fun to watch. I haven't personally seen Olson but all reports I have read say that he is a gritty player with size and an edge. Pattyn has improved every year and will wear the C next year. He is tough with more skill than given credit for. Gaarder played himself into this position and is the type of player that won't allow himself to do anything but improve. I think this line would have the ability to put some points on the board but even better will bring some of the old school Sioux mentality to the lineup. These guys will have no bones about getting into the face of anyone in the country. True grit that will punish teams both physically and mentally. The lunch pale line that will undoubtedly spend some time in the box and instigate some scrums.
The fourth line is a pure grind you out type of line. Experienced and relentless. I really like the idea of matching up OD with St. Clair and Chyzik. They all are workers that might not be the most skilled but if you make a mistake they can pounce on you. I think dropping OD to this line will give us a little bit more of a 4th line threat than we had this past year.
As for the defense, I absolutely love it. Every single one of those dmen can put up points. Fantastic skaters all around. Schmaltz and LaDue might be the best pairing in the country and would see a TON of ice time. Thompson and Stecher are great together and will only get better. I matched Mattson with the freshy Poolman to help him progress and I think they compliment eachother pretty well. Plus we still have Ausmus if we want a change of pace. I think this group of dmen have the ability to be one of the best in the country if not the best.
Gothberg is Gothberg. Enough said.
I love all that, it was fun reading except I dont know how they're going to keep Ausmus in and out of the line up for another year. Actually some times i wouldnt mind some one going in for Mattson at times.

I would guess we see a roster of 26 players next season- 15 forwards, 7 defensemen, 1 F/D, and 3 goalies.
Seniors- 7 Gaarder, MacMillan, O'Donnell, Parks, Pattyn, Mattson and Panzarella.
Juniors- 7 Caggiula, Chyzk, Grimaldi, Sanderson, St.Clair, J.Schmaltz, and Gothberg.
Sophomores- 7 L.Johnson, Murphy, Ausmus, LaDue, Stecher, Thompson, and Hrynkiw.
Freshmen- 5 Olson, N.Schmaltz, Simonson, Poolman, and C.Johnson.
I dont know the last time it was updated but siouxsports shows 3 dman and 3 forwards comeing in
D-man
Charlie Pelnick
Ryan Mantha
Tucker Poolman
Forwards
Jack Rowe
Luke Voltin
Nick Schmaltz
No Olson or Simonson
-
Could someone put the incoming recuits up cuz the guys that are bing talked about arent on this website besides Schmatlz and Poolman, cant remember who Simonson is.
-
There shouldv been someone in front of the net, how many time was there a loose puck into front of the net. The gophers did it. So frustrated!!!
-
REALLY, i got nothing
-
Some one needs to get in front of the net, where is everyone?
??
-
Can the Sioux catch a puck while skating???
-
Blocked shot cuz he waited to long to shoot
-
The Sioux need a guy in the center of the o zone, to many pucks going by
