Sunday in Tokyo with some white knuckle drama. USA takes gold (Schauffele grinds to win by a stroke), 7-man playoff for bronze, including Morikawa and McIlroy. (still underway as of 2:45 am CT)
Who needs sleep?
This event probably needs to incorporate some match play and more of a true team element. But it's been fun to watch.

Former Taco John's on Washington being gutted. Permit on the window indicates a coffee shop is coming.
Will be SO disappointed if they don't call it "Six Pack and A Ground."

Olympics just the latest fiasco. It is well past time that we ditch COVID testing as a pathetic ruse for safety among athletes and participants.
I think that we need a 100% consent model rather than a vax/testing model. Everyone has more than enough information to make their own decisions. Life - and sports - must go on for those who choose to do so.
The rest may continue to cower in their basements…until the shot wears off, that is. Which is about a month, in Rahm’s case.

Calculated risks are one thing, but given that the impetus for this construction was a near-catastrophic structural failure, one might wonder if it's worth the chance.
The article in the Herald was awfully light on tech...surely they would have asked the tough question and/or sought comment from an independent expert. 'Cause journalism, right? I mean, I can't be the only one thinking about it.

A good rule of thumb these days before you head out to eat is to have a Plan B and a Plan C. Lots of crazy hours and odd closings.

Nice combo. I would have operated both, called it "Suds and Muds." Complete with hot capuccino foam baths, and spot-and-dairy-free creamer rinses. Not sure how popular the optional espresso undercarriage wash would have been, though.

Couple of observations from The Match:
1. Aaron Rodgers can putt.
2. I would definitely play that course, but would bring 2 dozen balls AND spring for a cart.
3. Made-for-TV celebrity golf matches are a blast and should happen more often.

At least NC State can take solace from the Jon Rahm debacle...Wolfpack guaranteed to take it all in '22.
These are the facts that form the backdrop of today's decision:
- teams have been competing for months, NCAA regionals/super-regionals for weeks, together in Omaha for > 1 week
- fans in stands at full capacity without masks or vaccines
- baseball is played outdoors, with players generally at great distance
- players (adults, at that) have had ample access to vaccines for months
Sports 2021 is shaping up to be not much better than "sports 2020".
Still no proven correlation between a positive test and illness or contagiousness. Yet, here we are again.

I would take issue with this statement. If anything, it is merely filling in (mostly residential, at that) where it had already grown.
Virtually no commercial, retail, or dining, except for a couple of new banks along Columbia. And I don't know anyone that had been clamoring for two new banks. Hugo's has owned a large parcel at 47th & Washington forever, and chose to build downtown instead.
The part of me that enjoys zooming up and down I-29 thinks that this is a thinly veiled attempt for the nanny state to justify lowering interstate speed limits permanently in town. Which would be unnecessary. EXHIBIT A: see Fargo, where 55 is a total joke.
I think it would be better to develop the Merrifield interchange and dare the local economy to catch up. Because at present, the 32nd exit would be infinitely closer to most commercial destinations.

No words to express how stupid it is to DQ Rahm for a "positive" COVID test at Muirfield. Dude has a 6-shot lead heading into Sunday. Is he even sick? Has anyone proven any correlation between a "positive" test and illness or contagiousness? Can he not play a solo round, or wear a mask? Golf is played OUTDOORS, FFS.
A tainted tournament, and an asterisk due for the eventual runner-up. I mean, "winner."
We're no closer to normal, sadly.
