You assume a great deal, such as UND being interested (the president removed him) and the player wanting to go back to where he was booted.

Right. Especially the latter point.  Would Miller want to come anywhere close to UND after they cut bait and hung him out to dry?  I wouldn’t.

You dont remember when we played the gophers in the final five and then the regionals at least twice.

Yup. 2007 and 2012, at least.  Frankly, happens too much to UND.

And in 2011, UND won the final five in double OT against Denver only to have to beat Denver again a week later in the regionals to get to the frozen four.

***2017 too, FWIW. UND lost to Duluth in frozen face off final. NCAA sends UND and Duluth to the same regional the very next week.

*****2015 too, as I come to think of it. UND lost to St Cloud in the frozen faceoff.  UND beat St Cloud the next week in regionals.

Blais never seemed to get "thee best" recruit off any team, but he always seemed to get the second best from every team. Those second best guys always seemed to have something to prove on the ice.

He seemed to get "'thee best' recruit" in the league.

One of the reasons the 1997-98 and 1998-99 teams were so dominate is because Blaiser had three USHL players of the year on the team--Jeff Panzer, Karl Goehring, and Jason Blake*.

Guys like Drew Stafford, Zach Parise, and Matt Greene were okay recruits too.

    *Yes, Blake transferred.

TBH, a tier 1 program is needed in the worst way. Playing juniors at 17-18 is getting really tough as the local (USHL and NAHL) leagues are getting very very competitive. A tier 1 program would help the higher end kids stay closer to home and play much better hockey. The parity in the state is getting really bad.

Karl tried to start an AAA/midget team at the hockey academy a few years ago.  Idea was to provide a team for best ND kids to play against better competition.

Outside of that, I think ND high school hockey should considering going to two classes perhaps with relegation and promotion.  Top 10 teams in AA; bottom 10 teams in A.

Still the best story in ND hockey is the people keeping a program going in Hazen Beulah....

Its an absolute testament to the sport and dedication that they can keep the kids engaged and willing to keep coming out year after year.

They are proof time and again that with a 2 class system that would offer a glimmer of hope for some competitive contests.... more schools could play in a high school league and offer the Varsity experience, and a chance to legit compete for a title to more kids.

For sure, big props to Coach Dan Frei.

I went to the Tool concert last night so I missed the game and wouldn’t you know, UND hands SCSU a big loss. I guess I should try to find another concert to go to tonight for good luck. Glad everyone here got to see the good guys in green win!

How were Maynard’s vocals on The Pot?

Yep, new pickup, base is more than that.
The young guys you see driving brand new pickups paid 65k+.
How? Well, it's simple, they live in a 1 bed apartment, and own nothing else other than their $850/month truck payment.

They're owned/leased by the young guys' employer, and the business writes off the payments.

In a one and done scenario the best team is not always the champion.

I don’t know if I’d always agree with you, Brendan Morrison circa 1997. I’ll put my money on the smurfs over your Wolverines any day of the week.

Ok, so, we have qualifiers now... Cool. How about Perron?

Sorry, you were responding to a comment about winning "major recruiting battles" against other "blue bloods", and I presumed that was the context of your response.

So it was pretty concerning if Jason Blake's son was the second person that came to mind when discussing winning major recruiting battles.

Perron's a great recruit no doubt, but he always wanted to be at UND, so not sure how much of a battle it was to get him to UND either.
