  1. Two things we can guarantee. The secondary will be much better. So much so that I can hardly wait to watch the SJSU game just to see it. Also there won't be a fr starting qb. Those two things should add up to a win in a similar game to the SDSU game if we find ourselves in one and lack of a blowout against Montana or MSU. Those two facts add up to not starting from scratch.
  2. More importantly Bubba is familiar with them
  3. Sonic food is average at best. The drinks on the other hand. Mmmmmmm limeade.
  4. Wait I like this logic. This means we kick ass and didnt suck the last two years.
  5. Also look at the scores from last year. They won 4 of their last 5 and only lost to Northern Iowa by 7. They also went to Southern Illinois and whooped them.
  6. They've been getting better the last couple years and were a solid team last year. I'm not concerned with their record from the 90s and 2000s we play them this year and they won't be that bad at all.
  7. I'm giving them 3 games. 1 FBS 1 lower level FCS and one very solid FCS. Also game three is where the excuses of new system and players should be out the window.
  8. I knew you were kidding. I was serious that the nickname vikings had been tainted though.
  9. I stand corrected. I assumed that since the defense was run by guys coached by Bubba before and is now that it would be borderline the same. Either way defense always adjusts faster to change.
  10. Vikings would be a great nickname if the Vikings didn't exist. Maybe the Raiders? Spartans?
  11. It will be a great measure of how good the new staff is at teaching. One positive is I'd bet the defense has the same verbiage as before which should ease the transition for them since returning players can help the transfers get a grasp of the language. On offense is where we will truly see how good the new staff is. This is a new system entirely. Basically if we come out and look solid expectations should be bumped up a notch. If we come out and look like !@#$ the expectations should brought down to a realistic level. Finally the ultimate measure of this staff will be how much the team improves from game one to the season finale. Most Mussman teams didn't seem to inproce a great deal as the season wore on. Here's to change.
  12. I'm looking for either Miller or Bell to contribute big time this season. Stockwell should be the LT of the future. I don't know how far away he is from that though since he's had shoulder issues. Out FB is an absolute stud and should be utilized for more than blocking. We need to use Adler as a reciver this year. He is capable and is a classic H back. Norberg and Rattelle should be the backbone of the defense the next two years. Reyes may start out the gate and be a 4 year stud. Carter may be the first legit CB recruit we've had since Alexander. There are players that could contribute this year that weren't able to last year. That plus transfers and new coaches should equal a turnaround this year and a very big turnaround the next season.
  13. Intent is more than what we have been working with for the last few years. I'll take that as an improvement albeit hypothetical.
  14. A tree got torn out of the ground in my parents neighborhood. Another tree got the upper half torn off.
  15. Without #17 escorting players to the end zone we have a chance.
  16. I think they are very beatable given the new offensive philosophy we will have. Minnesota pounded the ball down their throats. They're used to playing soft spread offenses not power running offenses. Also with the influx of legit secondary players we may not be as susceptible to the long ball as we were against Fresno St and other FBS teams we've played. I'm really excited about this game and have a good feeling.
  17. Looks like a fairly solid player. Pretty average speed but looks fluid. Definitely solid for a walk on. He's probably of the same caliber as recent jucos we've spent scholarships on which is an encouraging sign.
  18. Zero blowout for starters
  19. Murderers row huh
  20. Hopefully. One problem is the acoustics echo; great for crowd noise, not so much for music.
  21. One thing with Adidas that you can guarantee is that the unis will fit like a glove. As for plain unis, a nice clean look is never a bad thing.
  22. I can't wait to see what Bubba and co put together with a full year to recruit. They did pretty outstanding given the circumstances with their first class.
  23. This is how I feel. To play devils advocate though; perhaps a watered down schedule aided inaugural playoff appearance would provide the necessary momentum to get the players we need to beat the big boys.
  24. I think the NDSU mold is the way to go. People often forget that they had significant contributions from JUCOs when they got good and used some to fill holes as they recruited HS kids to those holes. They understood that even if they wanted to build their team out of all non juco non transfers that they couldn't do that from the start by forcing kids who aren't ready into the starting lineup like we did with players like Mackey and many others. They had a lot of good CB transfers that sured up their d. From there they built depth for the future behind the transfers. It's obviously worked. Bottom line, fill a hole with the best option regardless of where they come from, just don't rely on transfers every year.
  25. I'm thinking, based on not a whole lot, this could maybe happen. Offense: LT: Devin Barton - AJ Stockwell LG: Brandon Anderson - Sean Meehan C: Colton Boas - Jace Hellman RG: Brandon Miller - Dan Bell RT: Brendan Slaight - AJ Stockwell TE: Zach Adler - Tucker Norby RB: Cedric Simmons - Patrick Sharp FB: Dustin Iverson - Dwayne Pecosky WR: RJ McGill - Aeron Carr - Ramon Bridges WR: Tyrhe Ivery -Miguel Cerriteno - Casey Young QB: Joe Mollberg/Ryan Bartles (toss up) K: Reid Taubenheim Defense: DE: Spencer Cummings - Alec Carrothers NG: Shea Walker - Marcus Cheatom DE: Jordan Hinojosa - Kyle Woodsmall OLB: Dayo Idowu - Adam Shaugabay ILB: Dylan Bakker - Kyle Norberg ILB: Will Ratelle - Ben Peters OLB: Javen Butler - Brian Labatt CB: Alex Tillman - Charles Flowers S: Baylee Carr - Chris Hannible S: Cole Reyes - Devin Coyle CB: Dominique Blackmon - Chris Brown P: Connor Bolduc - Mitch Meindel (I wasn't impressed with Meindels kicks, very loose and inconsistent.)
